I read way more of the fantasy books than I usually do. It was hard to choose but I had to vote for The Tainted Cup because I loved it so much I also really dislike the audible exclusive audiobooks included 😬
Readers for Accountability has a more thorough summary of events as I never saw the initial posts. An employee from St. Martin’s made statements on their personal social media that was violent against Palestinians last fall. Readers and influencers asked St.Martins how they would ensure reader/influencer safety and equity in wake of these remarks as this employee was in an influencer-facing position. A call for employee termination was never an ask. A marketing boycott was called in response to St. Martin’s silence. St. Martin’s remained silent, going as far as turning off comments on many Instagram posts, and just released a comment in good faith as of August. While I did participate in the marketing boycott, I am by no means an expert or insider on the situation. r4acollective.org
I didn't even know that existed. Huh, you learn something new every day
That's a great reminder of how, at the end of the day, it is a very specific segment still

You’ve had such a good reading year and a vote from you is enough for me to take a second look!
Very underwhelmed this year. Most of the titles were very recently released and I haven't gotten to them yet.
Yes, lots of very recent releases!
Which press is/was being boycotted? Did I miss a TikTok thing?
