Nice job with this! The characters in Princess Mononoke are so fascinating, they're created to be somewhat minimalistic -- we only know what we need to -- yet still incredibly rich.
Nice video! I think San is such a wonderful character and you described that very well, Princess Mononoke has become my favorite Ghibli movie and one of my favorite movies period, it's just so damn good!
Testament to the masterpiece that Lady Eboshi might be the greatest villain in fiction, precisely because she’s so grey. The themes in this epic continually make me think about character motivations and roles.
Thank you for this content! I will agree on the analysis. This is my second favorite Studio Ghibli film. Plus this was likely the film i relate with the most. Neither side is wrong with their decisions but neither is actually the villain. Their decisions made the outcome that became. I needed to go back to your original content to appreciate your current content. Thank you for the great works!
Aw this is awesome! Love that you checked out some of my earlier content :) it's definitely not as polished haha but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. Yeah I relate with this a lot too!
I find San to be Miyazaki’s most complex and strong female protagonist (My favorite is still Shizuku from Whisper of the Heart though) You have a very fun and smooth style of expressing your opinions, looking forwards to more ✌️
I honestly couldn't agree more!(Shizuku is a great choice, underrated I'd say) Thanks a ton man, really appreciate the support :) What would you want to see next?
San is like Mowgli from The Jungle Book and Tarzan from Walt Disney's Tarzan. All three characters were raised by animals, believed they were animals and chose to remain with their animal foster families, even after they encountered other humans for the first time and learned the truth about themselves.
Very true. It makes you think as well, whether humans are worth living with..as the message here is clearly that she's witnessed how humans can behave and decides to stay with her more dependable animal family
Wonderful video! You have a very fun and nice way of expressing your opinions and I couldn’t agree more with everything you said 🥰Miyazaki is the king of character complexity and development, amazing ❤
5:25 I'm sorry but I think you got mixed up in this, Moro did not get infected and San did not dive into her body to stop it, that was Okkoto, who was not part of her family or even her forest, Okkoto was an outsider that came to fight in the name of the Deer God. Her mother then did dive into Okkoto's body to retrieve her daughter and save her from infection. San did display her protectiveness earlier in the movie when her and Moro confront the boars next to the Deer God's pond, she pleads to Moro to try and talk the Deer God into healing her from the bullet Eboshi shot her with that Moro says she could feel was destroying her body and turning her into a demon. Moro however says that she has served her god with pride and has no shame going out naturally when her fate dictated she would and she would not beg the Deer God for a cure.

Thanks, appreciate it :) That's so true, although I'd say that's the case for many of Miyazaki's films as well! Makes them so interesting to watch

Thanks! Really appreciate the comment :) It really is...couldn't agree more. Personally Howl's Moving Castle is just a tad above it haha
@@miguelmunuera2601 I can see that, Howl’s is pretty good, just like every Ghibli movie!

Well said honestly, they're so beautifully crafted!
Great analysis, you should make more!
Thanks! Appreciate the support :) don't you worry, there'll be more. Already planning my next one
I like San's relationship with her brothers. They are so protective of her and don't care at all that their sister is human
It's a beautiful relationship she has with her wolf family
