Longtime CrossFit Games Head Judge and Seminar Staff Flowmaster Adrian Bozman's approach to programming the CrossFit Games brought the sport's top athletes back to the basics while challenging them to develop new skills. Tia-Clair Toomey vied for an unprecedented sixth title while rumors of retirement swirled and Mal O'Brien continued to rise. Meanwhile, 2021 Fittest Man on Earth Justin Medeiros worked to defend his title against determined competitors such as Roman Khrennikov - a multiyear qualifier who had yet to step onto the Games competition floor - and Ricky Garard, newly returned from a four-year ban for violating CrossFit's drug policy. In "Fittest on Earth: Retro/Active," watch as athletes face familiar movements with new twists, some thriving and others learning the hard way to begin anew with the basics, this time paying more attention.

The events themselves and how they played out should have been the focus of the documentary.
This was a more of a documentary on certain athletes.
The choice to go with this format left out a lot of athletes and goosebumps moments that would have catered to a bigger audience.
The world is going to miss Mal not being there this year. Hopefully we can see her next year

Just watched it, it was amazing :') I'm really impressed by Tia-Clair Toomey's journey! She really is the most dominant CrossFit athlete of all times! Really hoping she'll come back for the 2024 Games 💪
Loved it but wish you showed footage of other athletes, not just the 3 men and 3 women who podiumed at the end.

@@Sara-tp5ov she definitely was. 11 days before she gave birth she said on Instagram that she was full term(which according to Google is 39 weeks) and if you do the math that means she got pregnant the last week of July. It's pretty simple math. She was pregnant at the games

@@liz9147 why? Tia is the one who said publicly when she was full term, so naturally people are going to do the math to see if she was actually pregnant at the games. Let's not pretend not every crossfit fan on the planet has been wondering if she was pregnant at the games last summer. It's not weird to think it's mad impressive that she dominated the games both injured and pregnant. And understanding how pregnancy works is only weird and creepy if you're a Karen who wants any excuse to rag on someone who points out how impressive Tia is. But whatever

Hopefully the Buttery Bros did this one. They tell stories better than anyone. The Next Gen one missed a lot of storylines and was quite lacking.

This was lacking again. They didn't show the moment the whole crowd got behind Rebecca Fuselier at the end of The Capitol. And there was no mention at all of Dani Speegle and Jacqueline Dahlstrom on the Sandbag Ladder. IMO those were two of the most memorable moments of the games last year and they didn't even mention them in the doc. Such a shame.

I agree! They only showed the people who podiumed in this documentary. The Buttery Bros show footage of other athletes as well as those who podium.

Hi Stehpanie. What platform are you watching on? The Russian translation is included in subtitles, but if you have closed captioning turned on, it may not work for you.
It took a couple days for the Russian subtitles, but they are on there now

My reaction to Mat's comment is that Mal's identity has clearly been locked into this robot/machine/workhorse metaphor, so much so that even her coach says it about her. It must be hard for her to have to try to distance herself from that identity, especially with the way her coach talks about her. Let the young woman be a human being.

Once again CrossFit Games fails to deliver on the TEAMS storyline.
No one except the Teams and their mums care about the Teams.
@@liz9147 I’m neither on a team nor the moms and I care. They all should have equal parts to shine. CrossFit is a community and the team group shows that off in a cool way. Also the age group as well and adaptive. Everyone is so impressive!
I consider myself pretty informed on competitive CrossFit, but I find it really hard to follow any of the teams events because there’s so many of them. I think way more people would follow them if they cut down to like 4 teams at the CrossFit Games. Similar to the old invitationals.
@@stevennelson2366 I don’t disagree with you there. It does get hard to follow all the teams. It would be cool to see an affiliate cup series separate from the games and the games can be just all indy or do a small set of super team like the international team comp they did back in the day

Worst documentary ever, only focused on the top three athletes. Didn't even give credit to the winners of the events, only where the top three athletes placed.
Whoops! You guys are not the fittest on earth, big wave surfers are. All those weights and conditioning will never prepare you for the ultimate cardio on the planet.
The worst CrossFit Games documentary to-date. No mention of any other competitors beside the top three. No mention of key emotional moments such as when Rebecca Fuselier walked up the steps of the capitol followed by spectators or Dani Speegle lifting the 250LB Rogue Strongman Sandbag. Disappointing :-(
I don't care what anyone says...Ricky Garard is the strongest crossfitter out there.

You must’ve missed earlier movies, because her character arc justifies her bravado. At the beginning, she had no confidence, didn’t want the cameras looking at her, said she didn’t think she was good enough. Now she’s the main character and it’s based.
for the final docu of this that came out recently - that Roman was the only one on the podium WITHOUT his flag, AND that he'd been denied VISA for past FOUR years, when russia-ukraine wasn't even on..
the russophobia in america is so glaring its like america's blind spot.
so you want an athlete on the podium to NOT HOLD HIS COUNTRY'S FLAG to show your dissent/grievance/frustration/HELPLESSNESS. goes to show just how mighty america REALLY feels.
with a gdp 1/20th that of america's, RUSSIA still has held 31 nato nations at bay for 16 months now, AND their defence and space research is BETTER than america's.
