As already said, IMSA GT, WSPC and JSPC collapsed in 1993 with the Group C. Nissan and endurance races had ended their close relationship. In fact, the original NP35 have raced. It was the last race from the 92' JSPC season, in Mine. Nismo was testing only, but that race was enough to sentence the NP35 as an extremely beautiful fail. And, actually, the Mazda MXR-01 was a modified Jaguar with a Judd V10 from Formula 1.
It's too bad that Nissan started focusing so much on Indy. NPTI was building this chassis for Nissan, and they were going to put their V-6 twin turbo in it, and then Nissan disbanded them and dropped all sports car programs. I beleive though this car did actually race, albeit with a Mazda V-12 and for Mazda factory.
JSPCで実際に走っているのを生で見た。ある意味シェイクダウンだったので全然遅かった。SWC消滅しないでそのまま参戦出来て熟成されていたら・・・と思うと悔しい。
FIAが色気を出してF1とグループCのエンジンをNA3.5Lで共通化しようなんていい出さなければ、グループCは消滅しなかった。
低回転でのトルクが細そうって、NA多気筒エンジンはトルクよりも回してナンボなんだから、低回転トルクなんて気にしても仕方ない
それよりも1気筒当たりのピストンの質量が軽いから、ちょっと踏み込んだだけで軽く吹き上がる鋭い回転がこういうエンジンの魅力

レースに出たらあまりにも遅いので空力エンジニアの鈴鹿氏が変だなあといろいろやったけど560馬力しか出てないと判明した。
トヨタのV10は耐久仕様で680馬力、スプリント仕様で700馬力を超えていたので勝負にならなかった。
ダウンフォースは320km/hで5000kg近かった。

こうゆうエンジンはホンダの方がパワーあるけどね。

ホンダはとにかくトルクよりも高回転重視だからねぇ
VTECなんてその最たるものでしょ
実際問題、同じ排気量で多くの力を絞り出そうとすると、トルクを上げるよりも回転を上げる方が手っ取り早いわけだし
