Eric, a word of encouragement for you:
Looking in from the perspective of a former IBF pastor’s/missionary’s wife of 39 years, I can see that you have a heart for justice and a strong sense of right and wrong. These are good qualities. Have you considered that you are actually doing the work of God? That He has appointed you to this purpose? These evil people that you speak out about do not represent Him. Who did Jesus condemn? The Pharisees. The religious leaders who taught as doctrine the traditions of men, who made up the rules as they went along. God is sick of it and He is exposing the truth. Look at how many pastors from all denominations are being outed! In spite of all of the false teachings, God is still good and Jesus is still the way. You can turn your back on the institutionalized “church” (it’s not what God ever intended for it to be) without turning away from God himself. I believe that you are serving God whether you realize it or not. Blessings to you, you’re in my prayers ❤

Thank you. It is people like you who are truly doing the Lords work. Not that I believe anymore since 2016. trumpers caused me to go online and ask the questions I always was afraid to. That led me and my husband down a road to leaving the church, now no longer a believer. It's been very hard on me. I've suffered much church trauma. A million times, thank you❤

So politics changed your mind? About the historical evidence about Jesus 2000 yrs ago?

Thanks for exposing this movement as the cult that it is. It took years for me to realize that I had been dragged through a cult as a child and young adult. I'm still pretty angry about it and it's been decades. I'm glad I found your podcast. It's good to know I'm not alone

Right, you aren't alone. I've been livid & full of grief for some time. It's been difficult to forgive when it just goes on & on. It's so obvious now, but there are still people who endlessly plod on in support of a hypocritical paradigm. It dies at my generation. We have greater courage than our parents did in certain ways.

That was our church 😢. I had several issues with him through the years: lying, belittling kids in class, bullying kids… I hated him (a sin)…this was the second person in that ministry who did something like that… crazy.

I believe the IBF needs to address their obesity crisis as much as all of their other problems.

i watched more than one boy get beat until blood ran down his pants. one of them over a twinkie. I know of more than one account of girls being raped or molested at these organizations, not covered on Eric's show. I think obesity is far down the list.

this was a good question we had, no drinking or no wearing certain clothes etc. but let's eat to a point of pure gluttony. Fundamentalists must do the research of history and not compare our savior to those who are lost in man made rules that hurt so many.

They are problems in it, just as in every denomination. But keep in mind, the one to blame isn't God or the Bible. It are sinful people. Just follow God and none else, brother instead of becomign bitter.

I started listening to you as my sister and kids are in a strict Baptist church. Being more liberal myself, and seeing the drastic change of who she was and who she now is, is extreme.
I use your explanations to help educate myself.
Thank you explaining the difference between IFB and other Baptist churches. It gives me a little more peace of mind, but I still worry for her and the kids.

The church really does preach the superiority of Christians over non Christians. "Non Christians" can include other Christians.
It gets this superiority from the bible which it sees as the clear, infallible and inerrant word from God. So who is going to criticise that?
Add to that notions of a deep personal relationship with God, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and it becomes even worse, because what mere mortal congregant is going to challenge such power?
Christian theology has some really fine points to it. But it also has a lot of harmful aspects and believers don't want to face up to the latter. For example, the notion of forgiveness. It can be magnificent. But that very same notion can be used to shut down criticism and guilt trip victims.

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
    Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, BUT A BODY YOU PREPARED FOR ME;
This is God's gift to humanity.
The death, burial and resurrection of his son.
    ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES.........
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Sacrifice and offerings were not good enough .
    THAT'S WHY JESUS CAME.
Jesus is truly God and truly man. first of all, the Pharisees and sadducees said in john 10:33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere MAN, CLAIM TO BE GOD.” When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, (Matthew 16:13) Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah OR ONE OF THE PROPHETS.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. According to Peter, Jesus is the son of God the MESSIAH not just a prophet. Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: john 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God" (John 1:35)! John may not have completely understood the ministry of Jesus because John expressed some doubts (Luke 7:20) but he understood enough to know that Jesus was that promised Messiah and that there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood…and ultimately, the blood of the Lamb of God would be required for the complete forgiveness of sins. HE TOOK THE PUNISHMENT THAT WE DESERVED
FOR BREAKING GOD'S LAW 2nd corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. The bible says that when Jesus rose from the dead While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.
He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that IS WRITTEN ABOUT ME in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” JESUS ATE JUST TO PROVE TO HIS DISCIPLES THAT IT WAS REALLY HIM( HE WAS DEAD BUT NOW HE IS ALIVE) JESUS DIED IN THE FLESH NOT IN THE SPIRIT. ALL OF US ARE GOING TO DIE ONE DAY IN THE FLESH BUT OUR SPIRIT WILL LIVE FOREVER IN HEAVEN WITH JESUS OR IN THE LAKE OF FIRE. JESUS SAID I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE no one comes unto the father except through me.
The question is who do you say HE is. In Hebrews 1:8 God the father calls Jesus God. JESUS SAID I AND MY FATHER ARE ONE, collasians 2:9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, collasians 1:19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, john 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. Jesus is eternal HE made everything He even shares the glory with the Father that He has aways shared with him. AS A MATTER OF A FACT JESUS SAYS
In john 16:15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. WHO CAN MAKE SUCH A STATEMENT BUT GOD HIMSELF. JESUS ALSO SAYS Many will say (TO ME)on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then( I WILL) TELL THEM PLAINLY, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ JESUS IS GOD, and He WILL JUDGE. BELIEVE.
If you believe in Jesus, his death burial and resurrection according to the scriptures, YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.
AND THE SPIRIT OF GOD LIVES IN YOU.

This is ridiculous apostasy and completely sad. Anyone who touches a child inappropriately requires the death penalty, including any pastor. Only those qualified can be pastors. A pastor has to meet all the qualifications for pastors located in the books of Timothy and the book of Titus, Ephesians 4. They need to compare themselves to Stephen who knew his Bible from cover to cover and preached it and they should too. He provided a walk through the Bible before he was stoned to death. He was a man of character, being above reproach. The arriving 144,000 male, virgin Jews of the tribulation period will never compromise the Word of God. They represent the heart of true pastors who will die for the faith. They will not take the mark of satan and his talking idol.
Pastors must know their Bibles from cover to cover. And they are not to allow the sexually immoral in the church nor those who are alcoholics, nor the dishonest, etc. Please read 1 Corinthians chapters 5 and 6. The church is to be equipping the saints for the work of service, to be equipped for every good work; Ephesians 4. Believers are not to be equipped to be rock and rolling with the sexy beat of the rock industry. They are not to be entertaining the masses. They are to be equipping the masses for all holy and pure and separated living. “Come out and be separate says the LORD,” not being one with culture and society.
Please study 1 and 2 Corinthians. All evil must be exposed in the churches through church discipline performed before the congregants so others will be fearful of sinning. The church is to be equipping the saints for the work of ministry, teaching the Bible from cover to cover. Every person should be able to do a walk through the Bible in truth accuracy through pastor equipping.
And Women are commanded to dress in shamefaced modesty as they should never dress to incite a man to lust. Knowing men are to look upon them as sisters in all purity as Scripture admonishes. They are to display long hair, and the married women must wear the headcovering because of the holy angels who observe the church service and be silent during the church service. A true pastor would be preaching this. (1 Corinthians chapter 11)
An elder's wife told me women can't know their Bibles as if they cannot go to school and learn spelling, math, history, etc. This is manipulation, gaslighting, and insanity. It is as if the fewer people, including women, who don't know the Bible the better for church leadership to gaslight into all kinds of false doctrines and wickedness creating less accountability from congregants and pastors.
God judges the churches as we read in the first three chapters of Revelation and this addresses idolatry as well. Please study these chapters and the book of Jude, 2 Peter chapters 2-3. Learn your Bibles from cover to cover so you are never led astray by the ways of sinful men who claim to be pastors or evangelists. This is the day of the worldly/styling false church as God predicted would arrive.
Jesus Christ, the thrill of hope, for a sick, hurting, and weary world-Romans 10:9-10 from the Bible: “That if you confess with your mouth the LORD Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.”
