  • The Bulova Lunar Pilot Moonwatch is a commemoration towards one of only two watches to ever be strapped to the men who stepped foot on the moon - and the Omega Speedmaster always gets the most recognition.
The Lunar Pilot is a striking watch, with a beautifully timeless vintage look. Bulova have have also fitted it with their high performance quartz technology for unparalleled accuracy to seconds per year.

It has lost precisely one second in a year and a half!
As much as i love the speedy, try matching that!!!

Fantastic review. Thanks for talking about the lugs and the differences between the models this isn’t covered by most reviewers. One note: it’s a 1/20th of a second accuracy.

I’ve rocketed that crystal off my desk, my filing cabinet, miscellaneous other furniture. Did put a nick in the metal, had to wipe the smear of paint off the crystal a couple times. No worries in that concern. Curved pins will get you around the strap concern, I just bought both though. Love the watch, accuracy is eerie. So much more attractive than the omega variant imho.

This is an amazing watch and a greater review. I don’t understand the people at Bulova: if they were to release additional size for this model, say a 40mm they would have the golden goose and reach a much larger audience. Maybe one day. Who knows ?

Yeah it's bizarre. When it comes to Bulova, I don't know how many times I've seen people say "If only it was smaller..." They have so many potential customers that want to buy their watches but they're just too big for many.

I just got this watch. It arrived about an hours ago. So many people mentioned that it was a very large watch, and that if it had been smaller it would be more popular. IDK perhaps I have been wearing a Garmin Fenix 3 since I began running Altra's in '15. It seem small compared to the Garmin. That being said I felt that it was kinda small to me. Seems like a nice watch. My watch has a leather NATO style band. I thinks I am going to get another type of band. I spent a little more by getting it from Macy's. You can find it cheaper. I still plan to get an Omega Moon Watch.

Also with the case and the bracelet mismatch, I see it as intentional. Rather than brushed and polished, they went for a “tactical two-tone.” If you view it as intentional, it’s easier to like it.

Ordered mine July 2021 (same day I watched this review).... and it will forever be known as my "Covid Lock down" watch - as we are currently in lock down here in Sydney Australia. Do you think it would be possible to substitute with a different clasp ? I have a StrapCode clasp with a divers sliding extension thats 20mm and I might look at swapping out the butterfly. Thanks again.

I bought this from Joma for $300 new 2 yrs ago, unbelievable how much prices shot up recently.
I love this watch but it's weird with all the little quirks, the case brushing doesn't match the bracelet, raised crystal etc but the looks alone make it a keeper. The accuracy of my watch isn't that great but the 262khz's are sometimes confused with the Percisionist, since DST it's about +6 sec.The 45mm isn't the number I dislike, it's the lug to lug of 52 which is my limit with a 7" wrist, I wear up to 46 but the lug ends are just shy of being the width of my wrist, ppl should try it on before saying it's too big. I'm never flipping this watch, ex unitate vires.

The idea of these hinged pushers originally was not so much stylistic but the fact that that they were easy to use wearing gloves. Actually it measures time to 0,05 seconds, not only 0,10. I did not quite get it how 262 kHz would mean ”16 tics per second” though. Anyway nice review.

The polished Lunar Pilot is model #96A225. It is currently (11-2-2020) listed new on Amazon @ $280.99 USD. Buy it quickly as you can, this is the best price that I've seen for quite awhile and I'd expect it to shoot back up to the $400.00 USD range anytime now. It comes with the same leather and NASA style NATO strap as the #96B251 (which I have) but you can put any straight, end link bracelet on it and it will look very nice. I recommend Strapcode Miltat line of high quality bracelets. I have my Lunar Pilot on the Super Engineer Type II and it's a very good match, weight and looks wise. To my knowledge there is not a curved end link model available. All three watches are the same 45mm with 20mm lug width. Wear it with pride. I'm confident that it will become one of your favorites, as it is mine.

Tried a speed master, was a mistake. Looked like a child’s watch on my wrist. This watch, which I’m wearing now, fits me perfectly. I was worried about the crystal, knocked it off the filing cabinet in my office and all I did was wipe off the paint from the cabinet and carry on. Timing is remarkable. Lost about a second in an 18 month period. And like you said, ended up buying the strap version as well, slightly annoyed as I think it’s a cash grab imhp. Other than that the dial is beautiful, mechanism is incredible and construction is brilliant. Great watch.
