Your personal-vibe, casual conversation in videos is what keeps me watching. Not coming from a place of fear, and also not giving an over-produced video; you're also brave enough to admit areas you're looking to improve. So inspiring 😊
I'm at the Ozarks Homesteading Expo. I'm sorry you aren't here, but glad you are taking care of yourself. Sean is doing a great job! Prayers for full recovery!
I just started to garden this year, my Dad 94 was the gardener and I the preserver of the food, I have been here with Dad at the farm for 6 years. He went into carehome in spring. so I harvested his garlic all 3 30 ft rows. I will be moving into an apartment for winter for sure. hope to get back to the garden in early spring. anyway was going to say that I used smoke flake salt with my jalepeno chips dehydrated so good on sour dough cracker discard. get well
Hello there Jill , So lovely to see you feeling better and out in the garden. My peppers are doing really well this year , my crop allowed me to make candied Jalapeno and hot pepper jelly ,plus lots of fresh eating , on pizza and roasted ect..I am happy for what ever my garden blesses me with. Next stop is tomatoes in various ways , my family is crazy for salsa ,if I do not make it , there is much sadness.I still have much more life in my garden to preserve and eat.. Amen and I wish you the same..
I just made fermented jalapeño hot sauce and oh my was it so amazing. I fermented for 10 days I drained the liquid and put them in my blender added garlic, onions, cilantro, and a little bit of lemon and I have never tasted anything this awesome. I can’t wait to see more fermented food’s and recipes. You and your family are in our prayers God bless
Your lucky that you got your food put up, I really didn't do so well this yr, I had sciatica so it was difficult to even tend to the garden regularly, plus we had a draught for about the whole month of july, the heat didn't help, plus it was my 1st yr growing everything from seed, learning curve. Plus we got a greenhouse put up this yr & expanded our ground garden to a 30 x 40 size, plus 9 raised beds, a new puppy who likes to help in the garden ❤️❤️❤️ he's my new service dog so he's good to have on the garden
@@WhisperingWillowFarm no, I won't have time, just time to get everything preserved & put up. I'm tired by then, then there's thanksgiving & Christmas, once the NY starts I'm ready for a month or 2 to relax before planting season starts again, plus I ain't getting any younger (62 on 26) hahahaha
just fyi. the fish pepper is a varigated hot pepper. where as the candy cane is a varigated bell type. both are beautiful. but they are two completely different peppers.
Hi, it’s really wonderful seeing you out in one of your greenhouses today! You look great, but I fear you might over-do! Please be careful. After I had that surgery, I was on the couch each day for almost exactly a month! I couldn’t bend over or sit up and stand up straight, either. Even then, it wasn’t easy to get up and go! So you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you just do a little-at-a-time until you are feeling great. You do look great, that is true! So take care. 🎶🌹🎶
I've grown so MUCH food this year with my containers and three raised beds at my house PLUS three big beds at my mom's property. I've gotten so many tomatoes this year ....and I keep looking at my hubby and screaming....( While pointing at all this food) I DID THAT 😂😂 Everything I grew this year is from seeds I planted and babied in a tiny greenhouse ( like Jess showed us) and guess what???? I wanna go BIGGER next year 😂😂😂😂 I've turned into a crazy plant lady ❤️❤️❤️❤️and I have YOU AND JESS TO THANK FOR THAT!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I am in a rent house and this is my first season growing, I have my plants in containers, hoping to get my small garden area ready over the winter so it can be ready for next spring
That's awesome. I'm in same boat but on my 2 nd year Container Gardening and I love it. I started my page on Container Gardening and renting if you'd like to follow. I'd love to see your progress and help each other 💕 Happy Growing, Fall planting is the best!😊🥕🥑🌱🍓🥦🥒🌶️🍄🥔🍆🍅
Hi Jill so I am new to all this . I am 61 and just found out that my last day of work is in September 22, 2022. I get so overwhelmed with all the changes I have to do. I want to learn from you on how to grow and when to sow seeds I live in Victoria Texas which is zone 9a.. I appreciate you feed back ….
I feel so glad to see you looking better. And thank you for that update yesterday we've all been so concerned about you. We are continuing to pray. Jill where did you get that hat you wore today please put a link it is everything!
I have tried growing stuff 2 different times and was not successful so I feel super discouraged so I've just been focusing on our animals but your inspiring me to try again. I think I'm just going to try to grow 1 thing in the spring. I think I was just trying to do too much.
you can put the yellow peppers in the oven (without seeds) with olive oil, salt and garlic (not power) and maybe oregano. until very soft..They stay good for long time in the refrigerator
It's so great to see you smiling Again and outside in the Garden😊. Hope your healing fast and feeling better. We missed your radiant light and smiling face. You're such an inspiration and joy to watch & learn from. Thanks Jill & Family 💕🌱🌶️🥒
Hi Jill I know you said to plant a cover crop can you give me more ideas on what to plant, or is it ok to just cover my beds with tarps and stuff to protect it from the winter?
Hi Jill, so happy to see you out and about on your farm. Thanks for the encouragement and motivation. Looking forward to watching the pepper preservation video. Take care and God Bless.
Be honest with you Jill I can't grow peppers here I've tried every year me and my husband I don't know why they are not producing or growing it seems to be a challenge every year I live in Michigan I don't know what zone that is so but the only thing that seems to work around here is green beans and tomatoes are succeedable around here except for the groundhog likes to munch on my green beans well we're going to conquer that next year but beautiful peppers and I love your blog glad you're doing well and out back in the garden where you love to be God bless you 🥰💚💚
I am so excited for fall harvest. I ended up planting red sweet matador peppers, Mamma Giallo yellow sweet peppers, hybrid sweet snacking orange peppers, and for the squashes I have trumbulls he knows, speckled pup squash, I ran winter squash, and 8 ball squash. I've also been able to plant a certain amount of radishes throughout the gardens as well as sweet sugar daddy peas and yellow wax bush beans. Got my tomatoes ready for their beds and this year I've got Cherokee purple tomatoes, Sun sugar cherry tomatoes, along with San Marzano Roma tomatoes and celebrity tomatoes. This fall I'm hoping for a little bit less heat as far as weather-wise and a more enjoyable climate in order to have a better successful garden season this fall. My yard is way too small for an outdoor High tunnel unfortunately.
So glad to see you feeling better! And I enjoyed what you said about the motivation for growing food. For me, it was triggered by 2020 and local food shortages. But also rising costs. As someone with food allergies, I can't buy whatever is on the shelf and be okay. Then I realized how much better the food tastes, and now I'm learning all the hidden benefits of good, nutritious food versus the modern industrial food system. Plus my husband is now in agreement and is planning next year's garden expansion.
What do you do with the Shishito Peppers? This is my first time growing them. I have seen Jess blister them and cook them like I do sugar snaps but can you preserve them in any way?
I just picked my second Jimmy Nardello pepper and my plant is going wild with peppers, 3rd Ancho poblano and it's growing so many I'm so tickled😊 Got rainbow bells, every sweet pepper I could find I planted lol like 13 plants. Brings me such Joy since ground hog and deer decimated most of my garden.🦌😡 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️😁👍
Can someone advise me. First year growing in pots/planters on a balcony. I know I need to get the plants out of them and all that but what do I do about the soil? Leave it in the planters? All plastic. Add any fertilizer or wait till spring? Dump out of pots into a big tub? Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Hi Jill I’m harvesting cherry tomatoes green bell peppers and sweet peppers 🌶 so far that’s what ready thanks again sharing .
Good to see you looking and feeling better. You have done really well in the food growing stakes! 💕💕🌻🌻
young chili leaves you can put on soups...
Awesome harvest and great tips! I sure do need to get out and clean up the garden, it really is so easy to lose site of them when things are so busy.
Good reminders and tips!
My summer garden was such a ridiculous fail this year so I'm hoping my fall garden is much better!
Glad you are out and about, doing your farm thing, harvesting those beautiful peppers! Gotta love a big harvest! 🌶🌶

I harvested some today & I found 5 huge tomatoe horn worms. It's been a couple years since they've been in my garden so I was pretty ticked off.
Oh no

Wow beautiful peppers! Love you the colors too! What is an easy pepper to plant for a beginner who's very much green & inexperienced?!?
💚
Fish pepper is hot, the candy cane is a sweet pepper. We are growing the candy cane sweet pepper and it's gorgeous.
So happy you are out and about! From a place of love, just don't overdo! And, what happened to the snake? 💜🤗😎

Those shishitos are so delicious grilled
Love your overalls. I am looking for a pair for gardening. Do you mind sharing the brand?

SERIOUSLY PLZ! THE HAT. WHERE DO WE GET THIS HAT.
I have one very similar which is a Stetson wool felt in their crushable series. Jill's band is different so I don't think it is the same but close.
Yeah, spill Jill :) that hat is so dope

I’m saving lots of seeds from my heirloom plants 🪴 I have so many different varieties 😊
Good afternoon Whispering Willow Farm. What a harvest.
Wish you were my daughter.. do as much organic as you can 🤗
Really glad to see you out in your high tunnel again your smile just seems brighter.🙏🥰

You really didn't hear the doctor tell you to rest did you!
Can harry Vetch help with lack of nutrients in soil? Do I plant and leave in the ground over the winter or do I pull and leave on top of the soil?
Love all the varieties. I only grow bell and jalapeno peppers. I may have to look for different seeds for next year.
this may be a stupid question, what is a cover crop?
Great information

Take you Jimmy Nardelo peppers, stuff with a stick of cream cheese and put it on the barbeque. YUM! I love the Jimmy Nardello peppers.

I keep my soil in the pots to reuse next year. Just add a little more soil and an inch or two of compost in spring :)
@@charlesbrooks5003 thanks for responding!
Kj
Would turnips be a good cover crop? Would they be any good for consumption in the spring when I start planting again.
Hi Jill you look great!!!! Mike and I are starting seed this weekend and really looking forward to starting the fall garden after the crazy drought this years in Texas. We are working on several fall series videos. Your garden is amazing and still producing. Blessings, Rochelle
