oh so much tension between these people :( but I aways related to the little boy who just wants to snuggle with his dog, whereas my mom was aways telling me she is like Hayley Mills so alone and jealous of the girls who are with guys...and then I was like "What do you want me to do about that, I am 6 years old and I don't know how to get you a man, I have already searched the grocery stores for someone to marry you when you take me shopping." Then we both got mad and frustrated with each other. I wish she didn't expect me to solve all of her problems. haha now I don't have to -- free at last woohoo!
It doesn't sound like she was trying to get you to solve her problems as a 6 yr old. Sometimes grown ups just talk and are wistful while consuming content....personally as a kid I used to love gleaning life lessons from random things adults admitted in moments of honesty and vulnerability. I didn't trust "grown ups" much, but those moments seemed the most honest and I appreciated that. We are all different tho... but it really sounds like you're really hard on your mom for an offhand remark made to her kid about life decades ago.
I really feel sad that as an adult now, you can't have some empathy for your mother, and try to understand how she felt back then. And to say that you are now free of her? I don't get it. How can you be so heartless?

I was a human trafficking slave and she was my trafficker. She made child porn of me and my siblings. I had to create a lot of parent figures in media to replace the real ones I had that tortured me on a day to day basis. After that I grew up to study wildlife biology and to take some jobs in Entomology (the study of bugs). I am finished with my masters in Sustainability and aiming for a PhD in Geography. I have taught around 8,000 campers in nature camps to enjoy bugs and singing songs to them and understanding their role in the ecosystem. Once I am a professor, I can do even more to help the Earth and all the creatures that live here including those that people would call ugly. I am not ugly and neither is any bug. They are so beautiful. :) Some might even be called majestic, like the Rhinoceros Beetle. :)

This is a pretty song but they ought to spend less time looking at each other and pining after each other and just enjoy nature and the nocturnal animals out there and the dog. I like to go out in nature in the night and hang out with the crickets and owls and little frogs and night herons catching fish and maybe sing to them. No other people to get in my way.
