Honestly, thank you for at least bringing up the "save me someday" scene. Too many people either completely misunderstand or completely dismiss it even though that scene specifically had always stuck out to me with how much it holds for Hachiman and Yukino
I can't ever forget this show. It was so complex that I had to rewatch it 3 times to fully understand everything and not get confused. After that, it immediately became my favorite anime. It's without a doubt one of the best written shows ever.
This show is honestly one of the best anime ever. Even though its almost a decade old. A lesson on learning to be your genuine self and letting that persona break through the facade you've built up for so long is honestly a lesson a lot of people (myself included) should learn.

Imo OreGairu has the best character development in all of anime. Hachiman in season 1 is pessimistic, he wants to be alone and believes he really is on his own. But in season 2, he learns that his actions also affect Yukino and Yui. For the first time, he not only realizes he has bonds, he has to fight to maintain them. Hachiman lets out his true desires which he kept hidden for so long to protect him from getting hurt, saying he wants the real thing. And in season 3, he goes out of his way to follow his heart and pursues a romantic relationship with Yukino. As for Yukino, she is very distant in season 1, to the point where at the end of the season, she can only hint at her, Yui and Hachiman being friends. But when Haruno starts playing a bigger role in her life in season 2, Yukino opens up, showing weakness and becoming straight up vulnerable. This goes on in season 3 where she's challenged by not only Haruno but also herself. She wants to spare Yui's feelings and become independant of Hachiman, but she eventually has to face her own emotions, telling her she can't live without him. And Yui started out as a generic happy go lucky nice girl in season 1. She hung out with the popular kids simply to go with the flow, never really doing anything for herself. But that changes when she joins the service club and finds real friends. In season 2, she becomes open and honest with herself, trying to do everything she can to keep her friend group alive. This results in her creating schemes, trying to get what she wants while at the same time, her own emotions are fighting over what is more important: romance with Hachiman or Yukino's feelings? She grows from a very simple character to arguably the most complicated person on the show.
when I first went into this show, I wasn't expecting where it actually went. The dynamic between hachiman, yukino, and yui is a lot more complex than a standard love triangle. Even though there is some romantic feelings involved, the friendship of these characters takes the forefront. They slowly open up to each other, they want to remain friends together. Yui for example could've ran for student concil president because of jealousy, but instead she actually did it because she didn't want to lose Yukino and hachiman. They show frustration with each other not because they dislike each other, but because they want each other to be happy. They faced their insecurities together, which allowed them all to grow as people. Even though Yukino and Hachiman end up together, this doesn't destroy their relationship with yui. You can honestly say they all saved each other, they all were able to grow through their doubts and break through the image they forced upon themselves. I can see why this show is highly acclaimed compared to most shows in a similar genre. They break the tropes which most would stick to. Characters I didn't expect to particularly care for ended up being some of my favorite parts of the show (ie. Yui). You got a healthy balance with the humor where it isn't too over the top but still manages to make you smile. You have some truly heartfelt moments where you truly feel yourself in the characters shoes. Glad I watched this series.
Basically, season 1 is them not being themselves, season 2 is them understanding that they need to be themselves, and season 3 is them finally being themselves despite all the struggles.
This series has and will always be my favorite of all time. Never thought it would be when I originally watched it air back in Spring 2013, but learning more about the characters from the wiki and reading the light novel itself made me fall in love with the characters and story the more I followed it. I still get sentimental whenever I take time to watch it again. Really wish I could go back in time to experience the story fresh and remember my anticipation, dread, and excitement when new episodes and story development will happen. God I love this series! (Also, Yukino is best girl!)
This Anime probably has the best conversations than any other Anime in this genre. I finished watching it yesterday. The character development and seeing this will to find "something genuine" really touches a few chords and will stay with me for a long time. Personally I got more attached to ReLife but I think its just because I emphathize with Hishiron since I was so much like her in Highschool.
There's definitely a lot less beating around the bush and a lot more "aight let's be real for a second" moments, which alone is enough to appreciate the series. Feels like you're listening to an actual conversation
Same. rn it's in my top 5 and of few I think could actually be a 10/10 because every episode was an intellectual and emotion gauntlet as well as being charming and funny. I want to preserve that feeling.
I just finished rewatching the entire series and honestly, I feel the same way as most of you here. The title says it all, I just can't move on from this show. I dunno why but this series resonated with me so much. I wish this came out while I was in high school. I would've learned a lot. It just has a lot of nuances and subtleties that make it so much different from others in the same genre. I would go so far as to say it's the best one I have watched. And damn, I shouldn't say this because the ending was perfect but.. I really want more of them. I just can't get enough. It's fulfilling but sad at the same time.
This show thaught me how true friendship is, by taking off the mask and accept and help them for they really are. True friends is supporting their dreams and give them good examples. True friends is complex yet beautiful
Tbh I wouldn’t call it a love triangle. In order for it to be a love triangle, the other has to have some chance of winning at least imo. Hachiman has liked Yukino from the very beginning. He was never confused between who he liked but rather what his feelings were towards Yukino. In this case Yui was put in to bring the two together. Bc of her they had a reason to be spend time, question their motives, and in the end find their genuine. I feel Yui is the most simple and yet complex character in the show. It sucks that she gets reduced to just a battle of waifu.
I just finished watching this anime yesterday and i gotta say its one of the best romcoms ive ever watched, even tho i was satisfied with the ending,i still felt empty and sad because there's no season 4 and i don't think that will ever happen anytime soon😭😭😭😭
I watched OreGairu for the first time a couple months ago, and it impacted me a lot. My younger self reminds me of Hachiman, so it was really rewarding to see his growth over the course of seasons two and three, which confirmed the importance of friendship and vulnerability for me. I ended up writing a reflection on the anime for a magazine, and I think the analysis lines up a lot with yours. If you have the time, look up "Persimmons Magazine"-it's the first result, with my post being on the front page-I'd appreciate any comments :)
I was not expecting a whole ass well-written philosophy paper about oregairu that also linked to russian and french literature. The analysis is fundamentally the same, but the links to key moral and introspective viewpoints, as well as specific examples to visualize what exactly the text is referring to, is done flawlessly better. Good job my guy!
@@C_Atkins976 Wow, I saw your article. It's so detailed and compared to some philosophy and literature pieces that it makes a GENUINE work from within your heart. I watched Oregairu long time ago (I had to wait like 3.5 years for season 3) and I remembered about it because of the newest OVA for season 3 that came out just a few months ago. For example, I love how you also noticed the direct analogy between Hachiman saying "If this is all it takes to tear us apart, then maybe you weren’t all that close to begin with" to Hayato about his friends at the beginning of season 2, and then Hachiman received the same words from Yukino a few episodes later (episode 7 to be exact: th-cam.com/video/Yc7jSEMT2gM/w-d-xo.html). This is the fragment from your article I am talking about: "At the beginning of season two, Hachiman tells Hayato to his face that in trying to prevent his group from falling apart, what he is trying to save is probably not worth it if it needs saving. The great irony is that by the end of the same season, he finds himself in the very same position, noting his own falseness in interacting with Yukino and Yui, the first group of which he has been a part and to which he feels an obligation."
@@piotr004 Thanks a ton! I was lucky to have seen all three seasons in a row :). Good attention to detail there. Every time a season ended, my mind would fly all over the place, as I was always trying to connect moments to each other. Then I started a document to keep track of quotes, which proved useful. I'm glad that thoroughness has been noticed and appreciated. I'm thinking of maybe doing a shorter follow up where I might focus solely on season three and the topic of love, although who knows.
I just literally finished rewatching this yesterday and I was reminded on how complex this show was but that is the beauty of oregairu, being complex and dynamic
Thank you for explaining what I can't really explain about this anime.. There's somethig about this show that cannot put into a single word.. My no.1 of all time anime!
i just finished watching oregairu for the first time just now and i dont even know where to start. completely changed my perspective of my own personality and how i portray myself to others around me, because of how much i relate and see myself in hachiman. i enjoy my own time with just myself, just like hachiman, but having “something genuine” with someone close has always been a big aspiration for me, and thats one of the things that made me connect so much. one of the most relatable characters ive ever watched in any piece of cinema, anime or not. also, being in high school myself, i consider me coming across this show and watching it lucky. it helped me realize false personas of yourself really arent worth stressing over because of others reactions, its better to just be yourself, and i find that there really is something beautiful about that. :) and of course the romance part of this rom com that i waited what feels like forever to finally happen between hachiman and yukino felt really fulfilling, really wish we could see more of them together. loved this video too, you helped me out to fully understand and appreciate this anime for what it is, and give me some solace because its over. im gonna miss this anime for sure. ;) also, at 11:06, which song is that? i really like it and cant find it
Learning how to just be yourself and not stress over the you that society perceives you as is definitely the greatest takeaway from the show, I agree with that full heartedly. The OST at 11:06-ish is Ketsuretsu from the Season 2 OST :D
This is my all time favourite anime along side A Silent Voice, I rewatch it every once in a while. Great Jon btw, really did a nice video breaking down this simple, yet complex show👍🏼
Well... I must confess you made me realize two of a many key moments in the show. The "save me someday" moment i couldn't understand properly, and "genuene" scene moment - this one I got too shalow before...
Finished watching this back at 2021. Rewatching this year cause no other rocom just hits like Oregairu. 8man also has one of the best char development in romcoms
An amazing series, especially season 3. I was so scared that the last 2 episodes would be an emotional blender that I had to take a few days to mentally prepare myself. Glad to say that wasn’t the case, but it still hurt to watch (but like, in a good “this is tugging at my emotions” way rather than a bad “this is bad” way)
Was definitely a huge rollercoaster of a ride, especially since season 1 was super lighthearted and comedic, only to smack you with the more serious emotional rollercoaster nosedive. Truly a beautiful rom-com
Yesterday I watched this, another one those shows that makes you feel empty because it ended. It's because of shows like this that I feel glad that I started watching anime back during lockdown. There have been only 8 shows ever which I have given 10/10 and now this is also included :)
do you want to share the other 7? the bakemonogtari second series got a 10 from me and this was the closest I got to that. its got problems I realized after I got older but the biting conservations interactions were really good love is war reminded me of them too even if its doing its own thing way more ...and toradora and haruhi a while back
finished watching the whole thing in like 3 days and damn, there's just something special about this anime that i cant really put into words, i also love animes that i can relate to and every aspect was just that. admittedly i was not expecting this anime to be this so philosophical coming from a streak of watching wholesome slice of life animes so im glad there was a change lol. might just be top 2 all time animes ive watched so far this shit really hit! great video btw
The thing that is most interesting for me is how Hachiman's own biases distorts the reality for him. Hachiman Is a "Monster of Logic". But at the same time, he's veey prone to his own biases when it comes to his own self. The anime is not on the nose about it and subtly shows his growth and accepetence of the kindness of others. I love this show 😍😍
Oregairu will forever be my number one anime. Its story just resonated with me so well and the search to be "genuine" is all the more true today. Not to mention the stellar cast of characters and their development. I definitely won't be forgetting this anime anytime soon.
If you asked me which was better, the character portrayal or the underlying message to find your own happiness your own way, I wouldn't have an answer :)
My favorite one, everything just fits in it, I've watched so many times even without s3, and then watched even more with s3, and still will watch again, obvious I watch other animes, but sometimes I miss the feeling that only this one gave me.
I just finished this show yesterday, and oh wow. I have no words that Hiratsuka sensei would totally approve of not being able to capture how I feel in words 😭 Everything is amazing. I love all the characters and the lessons the show has reached me when I needed them. You’ll always have a place in my heart, Yui, Yukino, and Hachiman 🥹
This show also had so many quality ships (including Saika Totsuka), that you could build whole fleet with them. This was really some great character work.
One of my best friends recommended this series so much back when the second season was getting ready to air, saying i needed to "watch the 8man anime like right now", and i have no regrets. I binged the first season and after season 2 ended i binged it too. I tried watching season 3 as it was releasing but fell off for some reason but i plan to binge the whole series very soon. A fantastic series with amazing characters.
It's basically a story where the lowest person in society builds their own happy ending from almost nothing. The main reasons why he could was because of networking from his teacher. And understanding his true self. What he wants out of life. Had it not been for Shizuka-sensei. The 3 main characters would have just been faceless people in the crowd. -This whole thing is not only realistic. But also a pretty uncommon story in Anime. Which is usually flooded with Isekai and Fanservice.
Very well thought out video. Everytime I rewatch Oregairu I uncover something deeper, and as I am rewatching it rn I found your video and it's very insightful. Looking forward to more videos from you in the future!
my favourite anime, dont really see people rating it on videos that much or even talking about it, like no one i know really knows this anime and doesnt understand how amazing it is. Really good video you did!
This show has been in the back of my mind since i finished it, its one of the most peak pieces of fiction OAT tbh, love this show. I subbed btw, this vid is really well made and u deserve more attention 🔥🔥
It really is one of the greatest romcoms in all of anime, let alone animes in general. Season 2 and 3 took things to a different level - also best girl won
Thanks for convincing me to watch the anime now. I honestly knew two things about the anime before watching this video. One being a lot of people recommend this, and two, Hachiman's monologue about nice girls.
Man, i just watched this anime in full in three days for the first time by chance, and i can say for sure that it makes me want to be a better person with stronger relationships. Thank you Oregairu.
lowkey this show is unique, despite me having highs and lows with the show ultimately i really love it deep down. it may not be my first anime but it definitely one of my favourites
This show is honestly one of the best romcoms I’ve ever seen. I remember watching this a couple years ago as one of my very first animes I ever watched. Only thing was since I was so new to anime that I didn’t know how complex some of the shows could be and didn’t notice subtle things hinted at and discussed during my first watch. So I missed some very key parts of the show that makes it so great. I still loved it tho. But as I was new to anime I didn’t attempt to watch new anime as to not waste my time if I didn’t like it. So, I rewatched Oregairu a couple of times and found more and more things that I missed that were very important and made the story more complex. I also saw just how much these characters develop especially how big the leaps of their development are season by season. The lesson the show presents is so great as it applies to almost everyone. This video does great at breaking down their relationships and the charcters themselves and even helped me understand even more about this amazing show. Proving why this is one of my favorites of all time!
Oregairu is, and probably forever will be my favourite anime of all time. I'm glad that there are some people who understood the show and who value it highly. I really hope that this anime gets the popularity it deserves because even though it is quite popular and has good reviews, i feel like it's underrated as hell
This anime is peak and this analysis further enlighthens why is it so. By going thru the deep moments of the show even I am now compelled to rewatch it again.
Dude i watched this years ago, rewatched it this week, and damn still hits hard as ever. Excellent video that really put a bunch of great thoughts into the right words (smthn it would take the characters two whole seasons to do). Keep up the great work
Hey those two seasons were like two years, and it took me like 5 to learn to articulate thoughts that well, so i think taking that long to put things into the rights words is a canon event XD
my lazy ass finished the whole anime in 3 days. This anime really got me hooked on romance like i used to be. Easily my favorite romance anime. Jus wish i could see more of it since i really liked it. I watched the OVA today but it felt wrong I dont know why exactly but it just did
One of my first anime when I was 13 and was one of my favourites. Rewatched it recently at 18 and it had me laughing at every joke and interaction. Easily a 9/10 and my favourite Romance Anime to date!
I think my favorite subtle detail from this anime is that as time goes on, you notice that Hikki starts to worry more about how he looks on the outside, his clothes get a lot nice and neater.
My friend recommended me this as the second season started airing and I watched at 17 and the Ebina ep really hit home as my friend group was going through something like that at the time. I watched the 1st season as the 2nd season was still going and I thought the first season was funny. When second season ended I just thought ok cool, and a year later (2016) I understood it more and a year later (2017) when the 2nd ova came out I rewatched and realized and filled in some blanks I got really invested and understood it some more. In the end of 2019 when last volume came out, I was like wow and started to gain more interest as it reminded me of my teenage syndical back hand comments kinda dragged me down when I was forming adult relationships as I was getting older and when in 2020 when the 3rd season was supposed to start airing I rewatched it some more and suddenly it all made sense of what the show was about and one’s thinking, actions and social cues can affect/ worry for other people and close friends. Since 2022, this is a show I rewatch every spring or summer and I still grasp a different take/ feeling when I watch it
I have watched the OVA yesterday.. Really want to know more how things will go between them as couple.. Yui's relationship with them.. And more about other side characters.. There is another LN Oregairu Ketsu is going.. Don't know about it. But really rarely see a Romcom with such deep dialogues and scenes.. Want some more episodes
@@ArkNeuronjust saw the full anime in 3 day, but the OVA Was STRANGE AF, like yukino and hachiman still weren't ready to be togheter, or even the fact that yui decided to give up, but then she still Tries to take hachiman, didn t really like it
AHHHHH this is very old, at that time where we all waited every single episode and Every season of Oregairu, It was the best realistic romance at all time because it was too realistic like really realistic man so it took a lot of time till it was finally finished but each episode was like crazy masterpiece is what I would call, also I would describe Oregairu as "I was like watching another reality world man but in anime". This takes it back man. Still top 2 on my list man. So nostalgic man, if there was a time after our Midterms where we could watch this show again in the future then definitely I would watch this masterpiece again. This was the Best romance for 4 years, Straight like straight at that time never ever anyone surpassed this show as the top one spot for 4 years. It has always been a top 1 ranked for four years straight at that time. Thank you man!
i literally just finished Oregairu and i feel like i'm too attached to it now, im glad someone was able to understand the importance of the multiple scenes
one thing that il never forget from this show is the "i hate nice girls" qoute. from all the anime that iv watched this one is honestly one of the most relatable, deep, resounding qoutes that iv ever heard.
That entire scene was relatable on some level to be honest. Always at least one scene in this show that can relate to anyone. Part of the reason why it's so good :D
There was some sort of Otome game where Hachiman can choose a path that ends up with almost every other partner, including Iroha, Saki, Hina, Miura, his teacher, Haruno. and Totsuka. All the alternate endings are on TH-cam.
I would not rather call Hikigaya as Narcisist but he was literary a type of guy who will help you for no reason. As how he saved the dog in the very early episode.
I watched the by first season and was confused about the ending or lack of ending. Then forgot about it completely and now 2024. I realized there’s a second season and climax season. I just to say he chose the best girl ! 🎉
That show was an absolute odyssey for me. When I first watched it in 2013, I didn't like it. Well, I liked the side characters, but the main three just annoyed me to no end. When I watched season 2 in 2015, I came around to really like Hachiman, but also was confused by a lot of the other stuff. Yukino's sister especially drove me up a wall. I didn't get her, and her demeanor just seemed mean for no reason. In a way, it was good that it took all the way to 2020 for season 3 to release. I rewatched all of the anime (which was another strange journey because in my language, the series was divided between multiple streaming services) and then season 3. The extra life experience (and multiple rewatches) helped me make more sense of the show. Though by the end of it, the romance tag I originally picked it up for in 2013 seemed entirely secondary to me. The psychological aspects of the show are much more interesting in my opinion.
This is definitely one of those shows where it doesn't really make sense until you've got a few years behind you. Had the same thing for me with Fate. Liked it, didn't think much of it. Came back to it, LOVED it. Just goes to show how depth and complexity can make a show age really well.
you should actually watch it again, there is more to it then you think it is. The accident is in reality way more important then one might think. The service club itself is most likely not there to be there for real, but for the rehabilitation of Hachiman and Yukino. All of them now about the accident except Hachiman, which is why there is such a bad mood after summer break, and why Yukino is waiting for him outside the service club, something she never did before. The symbolism/rhyming themes are even more pronounced in the second season, where Hachiman is as guilty as Hayma. This is not meant to be a criticism in and of itself, it's more a hint that you should rewatch it and pay closer attention. A lot of stuff is hidden in plain sight. Not getting it is not to blame on you, this is how the author writes his stuff (and one of the reasons why he thought his novel couldn't be transfered into an anime).
While I did rewatch it and kinda take note of important scenes as i went, it definitely is hard to catch everything even for the first couple of watches. Really is just one of those shows where you'll find something new every time you watch it. Either way, I'm not tryna be a reviewer or critique shows with this channel. I just want to get people to watch some shows I like and tell a story while doing it :3
Hachiman has nothing to complain about. I moved towns and just as i was about to start my new school 3 large dogs attacked me, hospitalizing me for 6 months while i had a hole in my lower leg.
its been how long since I finished the LN and im pretty sure Ive rewatched the anime 3-4 times a year since it ended and still cant get it out of my mind
One thing which makes oregairu stand out is that it doesn't do stuff in typical rom-com way......like. Most of the time the rom-com approach is like...*so the main female lead will cry.... we will narrate the reason to audience as why she was crying and let the main character beat his ass trying to figure out what is happening..* Which will surely irritate the audience....but it functions deferntily it shows the problem but not the answer...which makes you think about stuff like the main character and the characters related to the problem which creates a better bond among you and them.......
@@ArkNeuron yeah he was narcissist with his ideas or thinking he was smarter then the rest an it became a defence mechanism. Yukino helped him break down his walls but the best part of the story is he helped break down her walls too

Couldn't have said it better. That segment about Yui is actually why something didn't sit right with me on the S3 OVA tho ;-;
Yep dude really@@ArkNeuron
when I first went into this show, I wasn't expecting where it actually went.
Yep
This series has and will always be my favorite of all time. Never thought it would be when I originally watched it air back in Spring 2013, but learning more about the characters from the wiki and reading the light novel itself made me fall in love with the characters and story the more I followed it. I still get sentimental whenever I take time to watch it again. Really wish I could go back in time to experience the story fresh and remember my anticipation, dread, and excitement when new episodes and story development will happen.
God I love this series!
(Also, Yukino is best girl!)
Yukino Team Win
This Anime probably has the best conversations than any other Anime in this genre. I finished watching it yesterday. The character development and seeing this will to find "something genuine" really touches a few chords and will stay with me for a long time.
Personally I got more attached to ReLife but I think its just because I emphathize with Hishiron since I was so much like her in Highschool.
There's definitely a lot less beating around the bush and a lot more "aight let's be real for a second" moments, which alone is enough to appreciate the series. Feels like you're listening to an actual conversation
I guess it's fate that this video showed up on my profile right when I was thinking of rewatching oregairu for the 5th time.
This honestly was such a great show to me, though i dont think my heart can take watching it a second time lmao
Season 3 came out after i watched it like 6 times and after that, was like
nahhhh
Same. rn it's in my top 5 and of few I think could actually be a 10/10 because every episode was an intellectual and emotion gauntlet as well as being charming and funny. I want to preserve that feeling.
omw to watch the whole thing for 4 th time
Nah honestly
Honestly, i can't stop thinking about this show. Especially season 3. Gosh! That was a ride for sure, and a fun one at that!
Yeah it was. Like that waterslide, that was fun xD
@@ArkNeuron I rewatch this anime bro after this
@@shubhchourasia4958I've seen it like 3 times alr and am planning to watch it again
It sucks that she gets reduced to just a battle of waifu.
you're right.
oregairu about how difficult it is to understand other people and Hikigai's "choice" illustrates this.
I just finished watching this anime yesterday and i gotta say its one of the best romcoms ive ever watched, even tho i was satisfied with the ending,i still felt empty and sad because there's no season 4 and i don't think that will ever happen anytime soon😭😭😭😭
Nah, season 4 ain't happening. season 3 was it. I'll still take it though :D
@@ArkNeuron 😭
My man it was depression for me when I finish the anime
felt the same way...empty. I never started a series again directly after watching it but I could´nt handle the emptiness after the finale /-:
So everyone feel this way, I thought it was only me who we depressed and sad after finishing a great show good to know@@viscountiss
@@ArkNeuron Thank you! I appreciate that you took the time to read it. Keep up the videos! You've given me some new animes to check out.
Well, I'll try to dish out some more analysis videos within the next couple weeks. Don't intend to give up on it just yet, but life's being a bitch😂
Three dimensionality is what defines oregairu best :)
Miss this anime will always have a special place in my heart… 😢
Touche brother
Thank you for explaining what I can't really explain about this anime..
There's somethig about this show that cannot put into a single word..
My no.1 of all time anime!
The best feelings are the ones that can't be explained ;)
i just finished watching oregairu for the first time just now and i dont even know where to start. completely changed my perspective of my own personality and how i portray myself to others around me, because of how much i relate and see myself in hachiman. i enjoy my own time with just myself, just like hachiman, but having “something genuine” with someone close has always been a big aspiration for me, and thats one of the things that made me connect so much. one of the most relatable characters ive ever watched in any piece of cinema, anime or not. also, being in high school myself, i consider me coming across this show and watching it lucky. it helped me realize false personas of yourself really arent worth stressing over because of others reactions, its better to just be yourself, and i find that there really is something beautiful about that.
This video is so underrated, the effort put into this and the ways you explain these overlooked parts of the anime is amazing.
Glad you think so!
_You know you're doing something right when you're taking notes_ lol
This is my all time favourite anime along side A Silent Voice, I rewatch it every once in a while.
Great Jon btw, really did a nice video breaking down this simple, yet complex show👍🏼
Well... I must confess you made me realize two of a many key moments in the show. The "save me someday" moment i couldn't understand properly, and "genuene" scene moment - this one I got too shalow before...
2013, and this show is one of the few anime that changed my "perspective".
There have been only 8 shows ever which I have given 10/10 and now this is also included :)
do you want to share the other 7?
the bakemonogtari second series got a 10 from me and this was the closest I got to that. its got problems I realized after I got older but the biting conservations interactions were really good
love is war reminded me of them too even if its doing its own thing way more
...and toradora and haruhi a while back
finished watching the whole thing in like 3 days and damn, there's just something special about this anime that i cant really put into words, i also love animes that i can relate to and every aspect was just that. admittedly i was not expecting this anime to be this so philosophical coming from a streak of watching wholesome slice of life animes so im glad there was a change lol. might just be top 2 all time animes ive watched so far this shit really hit! great video btw
Definitely the greatest takeaway is the value of human relationships, really insightful in that aspect
Just came back from watching the Oregairu Climax OVA and I needed to get my Oregairu essay fix. Thank you for this! I really enjoyed the watch :)
glad it did the job
The thing that is most interesting for me is how Hachiman's own biases distorts the reality for him. Hachiman Is a "Monster of Logic".
But at the same time, he's veey prone to his own biases when it comes to his own self. The anime is not on the nose about it and subtly shows his growth and accepetence of the kindness of others.
I love this show 😍😍
Keep making vids bro, you masterfully crafted this one. Oregairu is a “genuine”ly amazing series
Tbh, i just miss the feeling of not having any clue what's gonna happen next. Seen too many anime now to feel that sort of unknown ;(
I just finished this show yesterday, and oh wow.
Hell yeah
It's basically a story where the lowest person in society builds their own happy ending from almost nothing.
The main reasons why he could was because of networking from his teacher. And understanding his true self. What he wants out of life.
Had it not been for Shizuka-sensei. The 3 main characters would have just been faceless people in the crowd.
-This whole thing is not only realistic. But also a pretty uncommon story in Anime. Which is usually flooded with Isekai and Fanservice.
We all wish he had a teacher like Shizuka
This is, and forever will be, my favorite anime. It changed my life. Thank you for a wonderful video. You have given the show justice.
Very well thought out video. Everytime I rewatch Oregairu I uncover something deeper, and as I am rewatching it rn I found your video and it's very insightful. Looking forward to more videos from you in the future!
Appreciate the support!
It’s probably one of the only anime that I can notice more details and learn something new every time I rewatch/reread.
amazing narration you are the top 3 most underrated channel I have come to run into
I try my best!
my favourite anime, dont really see people rating it on videos that much or even talking about it, like no one i know really knows this anime and doesnt understand how amazing it is. Really good video you did!
Hell yeah!
This show has been in the back of my mind since i finished it, its one of the most peak pieces of fiction OAT tbh, love this show. I subbed btw, this vid is really well made and u deserve more attention 🔥🔥
Thanks man, I appreciate it! And I agree 100%
And hence why i structure my vids the way I do: give you a rundown but leave a lot to be desired ;)
I genuinely can't let this anime go. I rewatch all of it at least once a year. Hachiman just speaks to my soul.
Man, i just watched this anime in full in three days for the first time by chance, and i can say for sure that it makes me want to be a better person with stronger relationships. Thank you Oregairu.
I've watched this series so many times I lost count and I am watching this today too
lowkey this show is unique, despite me having highs and lows with the show ultimately i really love it deep down. it may not be my first anime but it definitely one of my favourites
It's one of those ones where it might not be a top 10 for me, but will forever have a spot in my close memory
I also find myself stuck with this trio and their story and now I am comfortable to know that there are more who are stuck with this goat.
I feel empty and need more of oregairu! I wanna wipe my memories and just start watching it all over again
Lot of people don't give anime the credit it deserves, especially when it comes to story complexity. Glad you found it!
Oregairu is, and probably forever will be my favourite anime of all time. I'm glad that there are some people who understood the show and who value it highly. I really hope that this anime gets the popularity it deserves because even though it is quite popular and has good reviews, i feel like it's underrated as hell
There's a lot of gems out there that you kinda come to realize are actually super underrated. Spread the love!
The search for genuine thing really impacted my life fr.
This anime is peak and this analysis further enlighthens why is it so. By going thru the deep moments of the show even I am now compelled to rewatch it again.
Have fun with your rewatch!
I loved the way you described my 3 times binged anime and totally one of the favorite out of all ❤
my lazy ass finished the whole anime in 3 days. This anime really got me hooked on romance like i used to be. Easily my favorite romance anime. Jus wish i could see more of it since i really liked it. I watched the OVA today but it felt wrong I dont know why exactly but it just did
Tis a very binge worthy show. As for the OVA, it's not just you. Felt wrong on so many levels
@@ArkNeuron Yeah ive noticed that alot of people didn't like it and the ending of season 3 also just felt a bit off..

One of my first anime when I was 13 and was one of my favourites. Rewatched it recently at 18 and it had me laughing at every joke and interaction. Easily a 9/10 and my favourite Romance Anime to date!
This is so peak, I just watched it, and the opening man yanagingi is so good. This is for sure in my top 10 romance

I think my favorite subtle detail from this anime is that as time goes on, you notice that Hikki starts to worry more about how he looks on the outside, his clothes get a lot nice and neater.
Oh I didn't even notice this. Good catch!
This anime has a special place in my heart. What a great series really.
can't forget this one
The OVA felt... Wrong, if I'm being honest. Always happy for more, but that just didn't sit right with me
@@ArkNeuron yeah i completly agree with you. The relationship beetween hikki and yukino kinda felt weaker or something.... anyway great video!
@@ArkNeuronjust saw the full anime in 3 day, but the OVA Was STRANGE AF, like yukino and hachiman still weren't ready to be togheter, or even the fact that yui decided to give up, but then she still Tries to take hachiman, didn t really like it
Oregairu a very special anime for me. I really thought your channel had more subscribers, very good quality!
I'm really working on it, trust me lol. Glad you enjoyed!
Glad to stir up some good memories!

I won't say I understood everything though, cause there's a lot to unpack with this one.

This was the first anime i ever watched about 3 years ago now, so yh i won't ever let go of this
I know i listened to you say all that but Hiratsuka still is the true end you cant change my mind
If it were me, it'd be Hiratsuka 100% so i get it xD
I can understand why 8man and Yukino got together but man isn't Sensei totally best girl in the anime amirite fellas
Elect this man
one thing that il never forget from this show is the "i hate nice girls" qoute. from all the anime that iv watched this one is honestly one of the most relatable, deep, resounding qoutes that iv ever heard.
Good stuff
Ive come full circle again. Time to rewatch the series the first time this year after this vid
Welcome to the club bro
I would not rather call Hikigaya as Narcisist but he was literary a type of guy who will help you for no reason. As how he saved the dog in the very early episode.
I watched the by first season and was confused about the ending or lack of ending. Then forgot about it completely and now 2024. I realized there’s a second season and climax season.
I just to say he chose the best girl ! 🎉
It be like that sometimes. That's what the videos are for!
Bro I watched this 4 years ago thanks for the recap, I should rewatch this show
Dewit
1:50 Deal with it? Ark, you don’t understand, *that’s the best part*
shhhh
@@ArkNeuron It's too late....
*I ALREADY HAVE A RIVAL*
This anime is so good that i even remember the names of all the charakters
This series has a place in my heart
you should actually watch it again, there is more to it then you think it is.
Bro what the video was so well made I would have never guessed you only had 2.88k subs. Im subbing man!
Thanks! Vocal control and production quality is arguably better in the newer ones tho :3
its been how long since I finished the LN and im pretty sure Ive rewatched the anime 3-4 times a year since it ended and still cant get it out of my mind
There's always that one show :3
I wish there were more seasons, This was one of the best romance anime that i have watched.
I have read the entire light novel of oregairu and I can assure you, it is one of the best pieces of literature I have read
Im so happy I started Oregairu in 2020 and didn't have to wait like 10 years for season 3
The wait was so long D:
One thing which makes oregairu stand out is that it doesn't do stuff in typical rom-com way......like. Most of the time the rom-com approach is like...*so the main female lead will cry.... we will narrate the reason to audience as why she was crying and let the main character beat his ass trying to figure out what is happening..* Which will surely irritate the audience....but it functions deferntily it shows the problem but not the answer...which makes you think about stuff like the main character and the characters related to the problem which creates a better bond among you and them.......
It is a much more indirect approach, which is better at humanizing them better. Great presentation overall
7-8th grade me was obsessed and in love with this anime, that 3rd season caught me so off gaurd
Bro i can't get enough of this anime
3:28 the best part 😂
Love the vid, you have my subscription
There's more on the way
I watched this anime like 5 or 6 times maybe (I also read manga). I just love this anime. If someone didn't watch this, just do it.
Wish I could tell people to read the Kanokari manga with that much enthusiasm 😔
Oregairu will always have a soft spot in my heart hehe
Its one of my all time favorites i relate to the main character a little bit so . An hes not a narcissist . Yukino is the best.
Toward the beginning he is kind of a narcissist, but it's hard to differentiate that from nihilism in this particular case with how it's portrayed
@@ArkNeuron yeah he was narcissist with his ideas or thinking he was smarter then the rest an it became a defence mechanism. Yukino helped him break down his walls but the best part of the story is he helped break down her walls too
This whole show was an elaborate philosophy lecture
God i just finished the show with the ova and i still cant get enought of it tbh, idk if we'll get another season or movie but it wouldnt bother if they added it im personally for hachiman and yukinoshita
