You’re really pushing the obstacle avoidance to the limits. Despite the tiny accident I’m seriously impressed by its performance.

For real! I take my Mini 4 Pro in the woods and it weaves in and out of trees on it's own when tracking. The only time it has problems is when you're moving at speed and it meets a wall of low hanging branches and bushes. Mine is still yet to crash yet though, it just tries to find a way around and eventually gives up if it can't. Honestly very impressed.
My M4p will be here tomorrow, pretty impressive how well it did considering the obstacles and the wind, along with the branches moving,, good review thanks….
i ve just crash the mini 3 pro so yeah 360 avoidance its a must for LEFT and RIGHT obstacle like house and tree for cinematic purpose :p
But 1 accident = crashed and broken :(

3:37 the warning is actually accurate, if you use a battery of the mini 3 pro the overall weight of the drone will be 2 grams over the 249g and therefore not C0. Had to learn it as well. I thought oh how nice it is to reuse the Mini 3 Pro batteries but indeed its heavier than 249 grams. ;D

Nobody would ever really want to put their expensive drone through this king of insane testing. Obstacle avoidance is mended to be only for safety enhancement, not for this kind of crazy flying. Whomever that even try to do this with theirs would definitely deserve their drone to be crash and destroyed.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share this active track video. At about the 4:13 mark it appeared that you set the active track to track you from behind when the drone was in front of you and surrounded by tree branches with no good options to move around behind you. Again thank you for making the effort and taking the time to let us see the new active track 360 feature out in real life conditions.

The light battery for the mini 3 Pro is weighs more than the light weight battery for the mini 4 Pro. So you are over the weight limit by a few grams.

That's a tricky obstacle test you had installed for M4P. It did an amazing job.
The real obstacle it cannot overcome is the local regulation around many of my local areas that won't allow drone flying :(
in Singapore there's around 95% of areas that are not allowed drone flying
Great video. As you say you are using a battery from your old drone you may be over 250g hence the battery warning. The mini 3 battery is over 2g more than the mini 4 pro battery according to the DJI specification info. May be worth checking the aircraft’s weight.

I think it has done a fantastic job, you have taken it to the extreme, where most users would not find themselves doing that. Overall good test and good OAS.

Ive seen a few videos now where it crashes where a mini 3 pro never would, namely into things straight ahead. Perhaps firmware, or perhaps the fisheyes don't work as well for straight ahead
it went wrong when it lost me, then it kinda drifting
@@TECHDRONEMEDIA the video I saw before was similar, it lost track a bit then drove into some fairly clearly visible branches.
Drone failed keeping you in sight so the new feature "seppuku" kicked in, lol...

If you were wondering what the hold-up was in the final days before the Mini 4 went on sale it was just DJI waiting for me to buy the Air 3. As soon as I purchased Air 3 DJI began selling the Mini 4.

Actually it's easy to resolve that issue with active track, I remembered litchie app have this feature that it follows the controller itself, maybe DJI should put that as a safety measure to follow the controller once the tracking is lost.
Please try the Near-Ground Tracking Option in FocusTrack Setting Menu, That will allow the Mini4Pro tracking more flexible

Hello, as far as i know , old DJI Mini Pro 3 baterry is 3g eavy+ , so you are breaking the 250g to 253g , great video.
So glad to see your video after a year. In India the government has completely banned DJI which is sad especially for hobbyists who would love to fly these nano/mini drones.
Basil, that's a pity. I both fly DJI Mini 2 and Hover X1. In closed areas, I prefer the Hover X1.
It's a flying tripod actually, but very well suited for follow mode like Henrik did in this video. I tested in riding my bike through a forest. Built quality is quite good. I've had it for 4 months now. I'll put a link in a second reaction, below.

Unfortunately they have implemented a 120m max altitude from takeoff point in the EU.
@@lilkye5850 is this only in EU ? That 120 meter limit has me like id rather keep flying my mini 2 no need to upgrade if their going to start releasing their new units with a 120 meter limit when the mini 2 can still do 500m
seems a durable drone. My mini 3 pro blades seem to got damaged last flight. I never hit anything. I have changed an arm but its to windy to try it at the mo to make sure it goes. I don't know if I will keep my m3p or sell it. they seem to be going from £600 to £400 be good to use a smart RC for once for me.
If you use your Mini 3 Pro battery in the Mini 4 Pro then you'd likely have to update that battery's firmware? And so you can't just plug it back into your Mini 3 Pro? It is a big reason I will not be adding the Mini 4 Pro..

Hi Henrick, I just crashed my drone yesterday! I was using obstacle avoidance and active track, having the drone follow me to my rear left (about 7-8 O'Clock position). Unfortunately, I forgot to click RECORD and I was not looking at the screen. There were trees to my right but clear to my left so I thought the drone would be safe. All of a sudden, I hear the crash and the drone beeping going down. Front left arm broken. I don't know what I did wrong, since I did not record it. I have sent it to DJI for analysis, so let's see how it goes. Maybe I'll have to use the care refresh! In any case, I won't trust active track in an area such as that with obstacle avoidance on. After 5 years flying, my first crash!

How easy is it to crash into the ground when flying manually? I want one to fly over salt water and don’t want it to drown.

Hi Henrik, is it possible to enter the e-ID in the fly app (like in the Air 3)? You don't have to, but can you do it?
What was plugged into your controller at the end of the video? Were you just charging it or was that a mic/other video source for recording another feed?

Can you do that teas with the mini 3 pro again? I am prety sure that the mini 3 Pro can do that better at tracking you from behind. The new fisheye lenses of the Mini 4 Pro has reduced the resolution of the obstical avoidabce in the front ao the Mini 4 Pro sees only 18m vs. 25m from the Mini 3 Pro! ...You can see and feel that in ever tracking test of the Mini 4 Pro

I will be attending a presentation at a DJI shop tonight 18.30 Australian time, will be interesting to see, and hear all the questions asked.
Sad turn out, only 5 people showed up. We got the FCC drone here in Australia.
The message isn't an error in the firmware. The m3p batteries will work in the m4p but they are heavier so the processor is doing it's job.

I have one question ... is the obstacle avoidance worse than in M3P when the drone is flying behind you? This is a deal breaker for me. This is the second video where I see somebody crashing their M4P with obstacle avoidance ... when testing M3P I did not see that happening.
I own both, picked up the mini4 pro 2 days ago. It's definitely worse. Everything software wise they changed is amazing though, but the detection being worse is a deal breaker for me... really a bummer they'll likely never bring the gui improvements or setting toggles over to the mini 3 pro
@@iverstaylot00that's a very bad thing then as people would believe that 360 protection would make the drone invincible and would turn on auto track in all kinds of situations. I've already seen videos of people doing tests on roads with cars and this is just the beginning. Advertising it's 360 obstacle avoidance as one of the main features could lead to really nasty accidents. I think it may change the laws of where those mini drones are allowed.

Good evening brother, could you do a test for me? Use the mini 4 propellers on the mini 2? DJI is not stupid, I'm sure it was intentional to put smaller propellers on the mini 2, to cause more rotation to have the same support, I bet that using the same propellers as the 4/3 on the mini 2/1 the flight time will increase, Of course it will be necessary to adapt it to fit it, but that's the least of it, Thank you"!
Cool test. I just got irritated when the controller prompted for an update by two reasons. It shouldn't happen while recording. And usually the update check works only when being online in wifi, but wifi should turn off when launching the drone. Ah, yes. Strange. I missed somehing? Cheers
It actually did an amazing job. That’s like skydio 2 type of obstacle avoidance going through the woods and tree branches like that. I wouldn’t trust the older dji drones to do anything even close to this.

Thank you. I have a question for you, please. What is the best option for obstacle avoidance: Brake or Bypass? Which one do you think is safer, and which one do you suggest?
Also, does this option affect the Return to Home feature? For example, if I choose Brake, will the drone stop in the air and wait for me to tell it what to do if it sees an obstacle on its way back? Will it fail to return home automatically? I don’t really understand how that works. I’m fairly new to drones, so I'd appreciate some guidance on what settings to use.

This is really putting this drone to it's limits 😅. Are you getting maximum height limit 120m locked on your mini 4 ?

do you have the plus batteries or only the batteries of the mini 3 pro inside the drone?
Its’s only the normal ones but I know by now they are heavier

nice video once again, you confirmed that i still can't trust those sensors :( what would be good to see is if you could do a range test of the mini 4 pro vs the mini 3 pro, when i say "range test" i mean, fly in a place where you always had drop outs "connection lose" with the mini 3 and test it with the mini 4 pro, as that's probably the only upgrade that could change my mind 😉
O4 provides 25% plus range improvement in most scenarios. Air 3 was the first, and I flew in in medium urban conditions in a circle some 4 kilometers from me - my O3/03+ drones can't fly a similar CIRCLE more than 3km from homepoint in same conditions. It's a decent test as the drone flies some 25 km in a huge circle through many conditions and varying terrain and obstacles between me and the aircraft vs a 19 km circle max with O3/03+ Transmission.

Is the 120m max alt in Europe absolutely set in stone? Will there be a eventually be a workaround? I need to be able to film hill summits, not just the sides of them😡
this might be why I keep my m3p but have ordered the mp4 too.

It is quite dangerous blocking such a big part of the screen. It should pop up once and disappear! Henrik can you maybe make a suggestion to DJI to update this? If it pops up randomly and block your screen visibility it is a problem...@@TECHDRONEMEDIA
