I love your philosophy on maintaining the health and balance of the lake. You are true sportsmen. I have fished with people that everything of legal size they kept, even females full of spawn. Now on those lakes just north of you 25 miles, a nice fish is rare. Nothing like ice fishing up north, no mosquitos now.

Nice work Larry and gentleman, those were some absolute monster Crappies! My biggest was pushing 17” out of the Rock River in southern WI back 20+ years ago. Caught it while walleye fishing with a jig and chartreuse green Fuzzy Grub and minnow combo. Looked like a 3lb largemouth when its head and mouth came out of the water. Haven’t caught any over 15” ever since, many 13.5”-14s, a few 15s. But anything over 14” is rare in the crappie world. Nice work and stay safe in the ice. 🎣

Lake Dubay has monster crappie and the biggest bluegill I've ever seen, you gotta be on moving water and drill your hole on an angle for crappie and in 3 ft of water for the gills

It could be fun for ice fishing but it might be too cold for me because I live in central Florida near Orlando.

Yep agree 100% on releasing the fish, but make sure they're 100 % healthy . It's not good holding the fish the way they do at times. That jaw or mouth , whatever you want to call it, isn't meant to support the weight of the fish.

I used to fish for stocker trout in a lake in Colorado where the size limit on crappie was 18 inches
So basically anything you caught had to be thrown back
They were trying to get the amount of crappies in the lake up.
First lake I saw people trolling for crappie
