The thing many don't understand is ....Ambani spent less than 1% of their net worth on this wedding....were as an average Indian almost spends more than 50% to 70% of their savings on weddings....many even take loan to complete the wedding ceremony...

Indian spends 50%-70% on wedding?? Dear, its good to have concerns for Indians but above percentiles is too much. The correct estimates as per many research is appx 20%, which is also too much but its ok as far as you don't borrow and have good cash flows!!

This is a pure display of how rich Indian culture can be. This type of rich culture needs lots of money, development, prosperity & that's why Ancient India was the richest region before it was looted and made poor & also many generation were isolated from their own culture.

This wedding had a hidden agenda too .... to promote "Wed in India" as a reminder to Rich in India who choose destination weddings outside India.... Important for wealth to remain within the country and provides employment to lot of vendors like florists , hotels, food caterers , drivers and so on ..... With so many viewers , India may become the new destination for weddings too

The portrayal of India as a land of snake charmers is a stereotypical and often reductive representation that has persisted in Western media for decades. While such portrayals are less common in contemporary media, they have historically appeared in various forms. Here are some notable examples to name a few:
    Films:
▫Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) - This film portrays India with exotic and stereotypical elements, including snake charmers.
▫ Octopussy (1983) - A James Bond film that features scenes with snake charmers, reinforcing the exotic image of India.
▫ The Jungle Book (1967) - The Disney animated film includes characters and scenes that contribute to the exotic and mystical portrayal of India, including the snake Kaa.
    TV Shows:
▫ The Simpsons - In various episodes, India is sometimes depicted with stereotypical elements, including snake charmers.
▫ Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown - While generally more nuanced, certain travel shows sometimes highlight stereotypical elements when visiting India, including snake charmers.
    Literature:
▫ "Kim" by Rudyard Kipling - This novel includes depictions of India that contribute to the exotic and colonial imagery, including snake charmers.
    Magazines and News Media:
▫ National Geographic - Historically, some features on India have included images of snake charmers, though the publication has evolved to provide more nuanced portrayals in recent years.
▫ Time Magazine - Older issues have occasionally included images or references to snake charmers when covering stories about India.
    Advertisements:
▫ Tourism Advertisements - Some older tourism campaigns, especially from the mid-20th century, have used snake charmers to evoke a sense of exotic allure about India.
    Cartoons and Comics:
▫ Tintin in Tibet - While not directly about India, this comic includes stereotypical imagery of the broader region, including snake charmers.
    General Media and Pop Culture:
▫ Hollywood and Bollywood - Certain films from both industries have sometimes perpetuated these stereotypes, though there is a growing movement towards more accurate and diverse representations.
    Conclusion:
Although the depiction of India as a land of snake charmers is less common today, it is crucial to acknowledge and challenge these stereotypes when they do appear, as they significantly influence public perception. Contemporary media representations of India are increasingly nuanced and diverse, showcasing the nation's complexity and vibrancy beyond old clichés.

You are a newcomer to the idea called India. Remember, the stereotypes of India were created by the colonial british and have continued to mock us till even now. The snake charmer is a part of that. These stereotypes are quite often used by western european media and america and australia etc. Therefore what he meant is that even though people of european people mock us, we are bigger than that. The europeans had never seen such deadly snakes, rest alone snake charmers and the amazing picture stuck in their head. I am proud of our snake charmers. Trivia : Nowadays, america hires Indian tribals who are experts in catching snakes with their bare hands and travel barefoot to catch feral snakes in southern part of US. The technology of the mighty people did not help.

LoL i don't like their Fack superiority. Their drama is always on rich and poor contractions which I don't like at all. Love is blind.they are always showing rich boys or girls fall into the poor boy or girl then the poor always suffer to defend their love. When I see them I feel just bloody show off. In Korea after retirement age children not take care of their parents. For that reason their retired mother has to do prostitute activity for money from this prostitute business generated 30 billion dollars income. How shameless. We know the grandparents value in our culture.we treat grandparents as more than any god. 90-95% percentage Korean did plastic surgery and showed Fack skin show. I don't give any attention to this kind of show off and marketing. If our government want to hike inflation then it is very easy for them to just hike the interest rate on the bank then bank hike on the enterprise loan. Enterprise owner hike prices on its products. Then it will increase salary level across India and India can tell to the world yeah Indian individual salary level increases but not really. In Europe USA normal salary level 65-70k USD in Europe 3-4k euro. Even though you can life normal life only we need just 3k usd for normal happy life.

    Hi Zuzana,
I think the people who criticizer the Ambani wedding should be better off if they mind their own business.
    The reasons are several:
1 Ambani has spent less than 0.5% of his wealth on this wedding.
2.He and his wife took the utmost care to ensure that the Indian culture was reflected in its utmost glory.
3 As you mentioned, the wedding brought credit to the country.
4..The people who criticised the wedding are totally blind to the huge contribution by the Ambanis to charity and other philanthropic activities.
5.And, last but not the least, the huge amount of money spent on the wedding has percolated down to the ordinary people - the wedding planners and staff, the decoraters and staff, the caterers and staff, the logistics and transportation people and staff and so on. The list is endless.
    Cheers!

Priests, garment manufacturers and designers, food catering, etc. These recipients, are not, Ambani's, but the ones who work.
Let us appreciate the giving, and understand the fact, that giving is one of the, Dharmas.

Recently it became a norm for Indian celebrities to host their weeding in a fancy foreign location (destination wedding). That has it's positives for them for sure. It would be more intimate, less people & hence less of a drama. But weddings are huge in India & have a great impact on the GDP. So much so that PM Modi had to mention it in a podcast & request celebrities to celebrate their wedding in India.
As far as expense goes, although I might think that in a country of huge disparity b/t rich & poor it is too luxury & unnecessary. But then, Should only the billionaires in the rich country got to have the right to spend !! By this logic billionaires & millionaires should just live India & move to Europe which is already happening to a great extend due to high taxes in India. So my conclusion is that let them spend their money. Atleast the money is being spent in India promoting jobs & culture of India.

In India, except some jealousy people and pro congress politicians,, no body is against this wedding. Ambanies started from a noble background. They become billionire because of their hard work. Every one has got same opportunity in this world. Some become successful and others keep crying. Its all over the world. Unfortunately, foreign media specifically ask questions like "in a poor country how people feels about it" but if you ask same questions in the west, you may get more negative answers there/
When a wealthy person spends money for lavish wedding, that money goes to the public in the form of payment to contractors, service providers, decoraters, hotels, news channels etc. So stop crying on ambani wedding and try to earn something as yourown.you can also become an Ambani some day.

Ratan Tata once remarked when asked about the Ambani s wealth displaying tendency vis a vis the Tatas....he said "We are industrialists, they are businessmen". Pretty much sums it up.

If he doesn't donate 2/3 rd profit than he should be in world top 5 richest billionaires. He is also from Gujarat. Ambani also from Gujarat. In India 86% billionaires are from Gujarat. In uk, USA also lots of Gujrati are running business. East India company were looted India and now their owner are Indian. Gujarat people thought is simple being an own Boss. This is the idea running almost all Gujarat people to do business and be own boss no matter business is small or big stage. In stock market or in business Gujrati people are starting investment from the highschool at least one time. I hade start investment in stock market when i was in 8th standard 😂 i just wanted to listen ratan tata biography on your chenal. People of your country have neutral opinions about India because of the neutral political ties between the two countries. However there are countries in the west which view India as an incomplete project and a potential geopolitical threat and therefore deliberately create a negative image of India which they propagate to their citizens first and then to the rest of the world. But still India should not try to become a replica of the west and rather should maintain its originality and preserve its civilizational values. Sorry to hear about the difficulties you had to face during your trip to India. Hope you are doing well now. Take care.

In the recent years, in India🇮🇳, there is a habit and fashion, to criticize the very rich people, celebraties and very big business men and traders, for their luxury lifestyle. But they earned that money, by their own hard work, talents and in the right moral ways, and, by giving a time to time income taxes to the government, then, there is a no any problem, complaint and rights to say anything by anyone, to that rich persons and his family's, for their luxurious life style. And if, this very rich people, do their family👪 functions and celebrations in India🇮🇳, in a big ways, rather than a foreign countries, and, also doing a social services, for the large number of a poor people in India🇮🇳, then it is a plus➕ points for them and India🇮🇳, I think. And our most of the very big business men's, rich people's and some big celebraties, are doing a some or other social works, for the poor people and others in India🇮🇳, by spending a little bit of a money, from their income. That we must appreciate😊🙏❤, I think.

Analogy drawn from royal wedding in UK, or South Korea's policies are absurd. First and foremost India has insanely huge disparity or inequality of income; the same is true for wealth concentration, and plutucracy is at pinnacle. The vast majority of population in India in still poor, of which many of them don't have access to basic needs. Take eg of backyard of Ambani's residence. Even if the mega event was for display of soft power, the benificiary of such power would be Ambani alone and not India. The more wealth created through such power would again conventrate in the hands of Ambani.
There has to be some moral decency to expenses in the wedding. Just bcoz they have so much, they can spend, that's the justification; this is absurd in all sense. Many millions sleep without adequate food in India but nothing bothers Adani and Ambanis. Plutucracy is real govt in India.
All in all it was a Shameful event! The youtuber is Godi youtuber who will always justify their (Ambani's) action as though such action will make India a great super power by making irrelevant comparisons.

Why don’t you donate half of your assets…. Why don’t you provide employment to lakhs of poor people and not spend a dime on your own marriage instead do a court marriage. Nobody is interested in sitting and getting money only beggars will have that mindset.
