We live in an age when a dude can lop off his wang. And that’s stunning and brave. Yet heaven forbid an adult athlete lights up a cigarette.
Amazing to me me that this considered news. She is a grown adult that is capable of making her own choices. As a former volunteer emt for a rescue squad for over 5 years, i can tell you that I ran one call related to smoking while about 40% of calls were related to alcohol or drugs. It's a shame we don't see this type of concern over obesity, which kills way more than smoking. I do love your content.

Up until three years ago, smoking cigs while playing golf was one of my greatest loves in life! Over the past 10 years it just became too hard to find a place to smoke without somebody giving you the side eye! TV didn’t need to show her smoking if they didn’t want to. I blame TV
Plenty of players dip and smoke cigars....if there is no rule against it at the club....who gives a shit.
She has some anxiety, ADHD issues and has said it helps calm her to smoke. She isn't a drinker beyond one or two and is in fantastic shape. The LPGA needs characters and today does not have many folks to help bring people to watch. Hope she starts winning more tournaments and her and Nelly have a little Jack and Arnie rivalry.
This must be fairly common as I've worked with a couple of guys over the years that had ADHD and they smoked to calm down.
One of the classic NFL photos known by most diehard fans shows Len Dawson, of the Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl, sitting on the sideline during the came, smoking. John Daly smokes, drinks, etc. Arnold and many from his era smoked. You can't control or make an adult behave. I detest smoking, but I defend someone having the freedom to smoke, speak, carry a firearm, go where they want, etc. Golf is an outdoor activity. If her smoking upsets people, THEY have the problem. All manner of people smoke and drink on the course outside of pro golf. The LPGA went to crap when they decided to make it into the Asian Tour. All pro sports are going to the dogs these days.

It was mainly impressive considering his entire diet, not just the smoking alone. John made the everyday Joe feel like they could make the Tour without taking lessons or committing to an athletic diet, at all. An anomaly that we will likely never see again.

I watched golfers over the last 60 years smoke PGA & LPGA what's the problem? Smoke em if you got em.....
Not a big deal to me. I'm always seeing a couple guys on the Senior Champions Tour smoking cigars while playing. I've also attended the Zurich 5 of the last 8 years and every time I've seen a few caddies smoking cigars during tournament play. Again no big deal.

I live in Lancaster and was at the Open on Sunday… watched her walk down one of the fairways smoking. She’s a grown adult and can do what she wants… but there were lots of young kids in attendance and I’m sure they’re very impressionable. Otherwise, her game is great and she did have a have a crowd following her around.
Charlie Hull is the best of the LPGA. Just anyone that chooses to do and be who they are on the course, is a good thing. We don't want cookie cutter people. We want to see individual personalities, just like in life. There's room for everyone.

Many people play better golf if calm and relaxed. Some people find a cigarette or cigar to be relaxing. I am actually surprised that more professional golfers don't smoke, especially with slow play being so prevalent.

Omg. Thank you for saying this! I have been saying this from the beginning that this is the biggest challenge with women's sports. Whether they admit it or not, their target audience is men. Men watch sports, not women. Until that changes, the product will have to be of interest to that demographic.

You Americans must seriously have a look at your priorities. You want to judge and criticize a lady golfer for smoking while playing golf (by the way, you play golf to win, not to set an example...just saying).
And on the other hand, you excuse Scottie for breaking the law and vilify the officer who did his job and arrested him (and not favoring him just because he's famous?).
Can you even see what you're doing...how your priorities are totally screwed up?
Women are at least 51% of the Population......if Women would watch Women's Sports then they would rival Men's Sports......that's the real issue.....Women need to watch Women's Sports

I’m a great fan of Mr ShortGame but he said something I disagree with He alleged the LPGA :”was an uninteresting and boring product” and that the Charley Hull has made it interesting. I enjoy watching the LPGA events, follow and enjoy watching their tour players. I acccomplished a modicum of success as an amateur golfer, qualified for four USGA Senior Amateurs, qualified into the Senior British Open Championship at Royal Portrush, qualified and competed in six Senior Open Amateurs Championships conducted by the R & A. Competed and made the cut at the Japan Senior Amateur Championship. My record verifies that I appreciate fine golf played by competitors male or female To me, high level golf at all levels, is worthwhile to watch and appreciate; it is not boring or uninteresting. Regardless, I still love Mr Short Game and his subjects he chooses regardless of whether I agree or disagree. You keep going, love it.
Women can’t keep from screwing up the WNBA or the LPGA. Apparently neither can handle the headlines.
Most jobs would frown on employees smoking where they can be seen by the public. Her sponsors pay her and her expenses, therefore, they have the right to expect her to appear at her job or anywhere she is representing them in a professional fashion. In my opinion, she failed, and I'd be having discussions about that with her agent.
It's not a big deal. I once saw Fuzzy Zeller smoking a cigarette on the fairway during the Senior open in Hutchinson Kansas some years ago. He threw it down on the fairway. Worst part was we couldn't light up! Not even in the parking lot.
Anyone but me remember Arnold Palmer walking the fairway smoking a cigarette. I believe he was spokesman for L&M. My dad smoked that brand

What is killing the LPGA is a screwy setup that knocked out Korda, Ko, Henderson and Thompson and had no eyeballs on the weekend.
It's was the US Open. The setup is supposed to be extremely difficult.

She is a grown adult and if she has a habit. It is what it is. John Daly is put on a pedestal for the same thing. Why not her? She is a good player and does her thing. Not bad or good if she brings attention to the LPGA. I like watching the LPGA to be honest this was not something I would be bother about. My opinion.
I do like to watch the LPGA tour on tv for 2 reasons..I can relate more to their swing speeds and club distances than pga tour pros…I can’t hit a 200 yard 7 iron..but I can hit a 145 yd 7 iron..aka lpga…the second reason I watch is their swing speed is slower but more accurate than myself and so I try to see if I can get some swing tip..plus I like to see girls playing golf..has a bit of sex appeal…

You have one of the best VLOGS on TH-cam. It would be nice if you had more content regarding the LPGA and bring it to the masses. Nelly had 6 victories so far, Rose Zhang and Madeline Sagstrom had a shotout at the Cognizant. Maybe have an interview with a player or two. Keep up the great work..

The media ofTiger Woods is what drove me away from the PGA. I think Tiger is a great golfer but when he played cameras were on him from tee to green even if he was in last place. No one else got the media coverage like he did not even the popular player Phil Mickelson.
Viral attention? From who? I watched hours of coverage for this event since Wednesday. I'm online all the time and didn't hear or see one single mention of Hull smoking. In fact, this particular video is the first I've seen covering the topic. Ok. So, now that i have seen it I'll ask, so what? Are we really clutching our pearls over this girl puffing on a cigarette? And this idea that Hull is a girl version of Daly, no. Hull is attractive, has insanely gorgeous legs, and can play some serious golf. Guys love to look at pretty girls play golf. And if they are good, give us more. It has nothing to do with her smoking. Hell. I had no idea she was smoking cigarettes at events till, again, I saw this video and I've been following several LPGA events since February. Hull got my attention because she's attractive and can play.

Thefolks who say "who cares " are probably right. The irony here is that she is a fitness advocate. In her late teens she went crazy in the gym. She put out videos ofher workouts. That's the disharmony here. Whatever else she is, she's a gunslinger. Very few players an run off four or five parbreakers in a row.

We have to stop promoting sports people as role models with regard to how we should live our lives. These sport stars are where they are because they worked hard in their sport and excel at what they do. 100% promote them for that and how great they are at what they do. They deserve that.
But let's stop putting this unnecessary expectation that they are role models for how we should live our lives. Like all of us, they are perfectly capable of making silly, dumb, immoral decisions.
Let parents be parents and guide their kids on how they should live their lives and promote these athletes for being great athletes.
A certain level of depravity has always been more interesting. As an example, Jerry Spring show. How long and successful was it, even if some or most of it was stagged. The straight and narrow is just not that interesting, has no underlying level of drama.
If she wants to smoke that's her choice. She should not be allowed to smoke during tournaments though. I don't think any other pro sports organizations allow it & sets a bad example for children. My personal opinion is that it's a disgusting habit with zero redeeming values.
Granted that smoking is a disgusting habit, I think you need to do a fact check on smoking or vaping in terms of which is more hazardous to a person's health:

She's know for wanting attention but she's not going to like the attention she's getting. People who have a thing for women who smoke are going crazy over this especially a nice looking athlete who took up smoking in her late 20's. Most of them never knew of her before this. I'm pretty sure if she wasn't a smoker that guy wouldn't of gave her his number. It's your choice if you want to smoke I'm not going to make any pointless lectures of the dangers of it. If she wants to smoke fine but do it behind close doors and don't make a circus out of it. Problem is she's opened up a door to so many people who are attracted to good looking people who smoke and now they all want their chance at her. She will regret this and there is no turning back now even if she quits.

Hailey Davidson, a transgender athlete, was selected as a first alternate for the U.S. Women’s Open, which is being held at the Lancaster Country Club.Would it be OK for a Trans women to be smoking.
