Hey Everyone! Micah and Christian were really awesome to put themselves out there and do something like this. They tried to make a connection when a lot of people today would have said no.
There are going to be things said you don’t agree with, but I encourage you guys to try and choose something different, and let’s show both sides some respect in the comments 🙏

I thought this was great, and so were they. I was hoping it would be Christian and Micah as the two. I'm glad it was. I figured they'd have the best chance of getting along and having good discussion. I almost shipped them as soon as I saw them meet lol! Love the series. Keep it up, guys. Just want to say if you ever come to the Maryland area would love to hang out with you guys. It seems like it would be a blast.

I'm micahs older step brother and one thing about micah is he's very humble for everything he has been through. He broke his back, and was within an centimeter of being paralyzed. He beat that and then somebody stole his identity and destroyed his credit. Then he gets cancer and beats it and he doesn't even bring it up besides the cancer a little bit. He is one tough kid.

I agree, now if the government could reflect this and not be of the same ideology (I.e only one political party of lobbyists, loyalists), that would be great.
Good policies come from partisan discourse, reflecting most Americans. Authoritarian policies come from a unilateral government (be it Democrat or Republican) which is never good as it undermines the normal American, even should they resonate with policies made, given it allows politicians to go unchecked and pass things they did not advocate for. The nation is composed of multiple mindsets, let the government also be.

How things work nowadays, the Framers would be very disappointed at, especially the balance...they did not expect a bipartisan America to form because they expected each individual being of an individual mindset...if you read the Federalist papers that much is clear.

Im a conservative, and one of my best friends is a liberal. The key to getting along with someone that has such conflicting views as you is to not talk about them, and when things do come up, make allowances and sacrifice some of your ego and pride by not biting back. My friend and I spent nearly the entire summer fishing and kayaking and having just an absolute blast because we found something in common. Lucky for us this is just the beginning of what we share as hobbies. And i think thats why we're such good friends. When we plan see each other, all it means is that we're planning on having a freaking great time doing something we both really enjoy with someone who shares the same intrest in fun activity.

This series was absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much for telling this story!!
Coming from my perspective as a still-undecided voter with a mix of liberal and conservative views, and as a Christian as well with friends on all sides of the political spectrum.... This video sheds light on the unity that does exist in the states as a baseline. The division that is center stage is, well, like theatrics on a stage, not the full picture. Division is fed to us on social media, news media, from our politicians, and by proxy from our friends and family...
    Division sells, but Unity Strengthens...
I think we really witnessed something crucial. When politics are center stage in a discussion, division is easy. Yet when we set it aside, connection and unity are real. When Politics are the only defining feature of what one makes one's self to be, division and arguments are incredibly common. But when we choose to focus on the other things that make us ... us... we can find plenty of common ground and cause to support each other.
In a world that is more "connected" than ever before via the internet... that same medium removes that human element and facilitates a mentality of assumptions about the other people. It makes it easier to sow hate and division.
This series shed light on a light, and truth, that if more Americans were able to see, our country and society would be much better off.
Some say Trump being president will solve it all, others say Harris will. Others say Stein, or Kennedy... But no politician is going to fully heal the divide. We need a paradigm shift of how folks connect with each other and this is an amazing step in that direction.
Thank you to the storytellers that are leading us towards healing!

However, I do wish that we could talk about our differences without getting so emotional. I truly like to hear why people think differently then myself but everyone assumes that I’m trying to start an argument when I ask them a question. The important thing is to not throw insults or derogatory remarks because that only escalates things. Also, don’t try to back someone into a corner just to prove a point. We have to respect each other.

That despite the political differences and ideologies, we shall not ever forget that the person we are standing next to is not "name"-supporter, but first and foremost a Person. There's a strong age gap in politics in my country that tears families apart: old people lived in my country for so long that it's hard for them to imagine the other, not theirs, say of living. On the other side, there's young pals like me who were shown better lives when we were growing up, just to see how everything can go wrong in less than a decade. I made the effort to go up and introduce myself to one of the MAGA County Commissioners that has caused quite a stink around town for posing a pic of the trans high school king. I had a run in with him on face book about sending out the Musk lies when the hurricane came through NC. So, we knew each other from face book. I was expecting to see him but I threw him off when I walked over and introduced myself to him. I introduced him to my granddaughter that was voting for the first time. I said, "she's one of the future voters in the county". We chatted a few minutes and I told him I was an 18 yr. military wife before moving back here to my hometown. I made a remark about how different it is out here in the civilian world. It all seemed to go well, and he even called my name and waved buy as I was leaving. It was a start anyway. We'll see how it goes.

Just a heads up… I almost didn’t click on this video because I was looking for Micah and Christian, not the two random people you show with the thumbnail. It threw me a bit. I’m glad I did but I wonder how many people are waiting for the follow up video of Micah and Christian and don’t click on this because you show these 2 different people at the table?
It was a nice ending. Thanks for doing what you did.

Agreed, they definitely need to change the thumbnail to Micah and Christian, seems pretty obvious, I didn't click the first time I saw it but luckily read the title when it popped back up in Recommended the 2nd time around👍

VALID. If I didn’t assume this was the follow up video I wouldn’t have clicked for the “new” topic….. should definitely use them in the thumbnail which I think would be more fun to not just have you sitting at a table with stand-ins
but I am also preprogrammed to click every DC video at this point! Lol so I’ll still end up watching

I'm not a big fan of that band. But I will say I saw them about 20 years ago at a crawfish boil with a bunch of 90s bands. , and that singer had the crowd whipped up in a frenzy that honestly shocked me. He had complete control of that place. Crazy. I don't care much for their music, but that kind of skill fronting a band was just unbelievable.

Let me just say this, I'm queer, I'm trans. I'm as far from Trump as possible but I like Micah so much more. He's genuine, down-to-earth, he's honest, he isn't afraid to admit when he's wrong or upset someone. He's always up for a challenge and putting his best foot forward. It doesn't matter his views, political or not, he is a good man.

When I was a kid, the word "queer" was a hateful slur for homosexuals. Language has changed so much in such a short time, which is another reason for so much division. People are unable to communicate effectively when they speak different languages and have different definitions for the words they use.

This is the most enjoyable video series I have seen in a long time. I was smiling and laughing during the whole video today. What a joy to watch! The media and politicians are the ones dividing the country, and generating this hatred toward one another, but this idea you have "introduced" in this delightful video series by bringing 2 people together with opposing views is the true way to begin the process of ending the division in our country and the rest of the world as well.
Please do more videos like this and little by little our country can be united once again.

I saw healthy conversations and light poking fun. Without having an honest open dialogue, we get stuck in our bubbles. I would consider it a problem if we didn't talk to one another due to political differences. What makes America great, is being able to have differences of opinion and lifestyles with the freedom to do so. It opens up more dialogue, and understanding, and viewpoints can possibly change, but most important, to build a relationship with one another, and not creating a civil war amongst each other. Without conversation, pent up anger and rage towards another is inevitable, and hate for each side starts to form. There is a lot more in common between both sides than we think. Both seem to care about their families, friends, and the right to think whatever they want. That's how it should be.

Really liked Micah's reaction to making a meal he has no desire for after a day of rock climbing. I'm sure I would have felt the same way. So glad to see the two of them could stop from going to far with political opinions and could get the meal put together. This video is a good lesson in civility.

Micah was super-gracious, but... well, it seemed to me that he was always the one shutting up. And that's fair, 'cause I think he knew his personality could be kind of overwhelming and he wanted to make sure Christian got the space that she needed, but it seemed like every time they got heated, Christian was the one that called time-out, and Micah always respected that, which meant, from my perspective, that he kept getting shut down, even in the middle of trying to make a point. It was impressive that he had that kind of self-discipline and humility, to not take it personally, but to me, it didn't seem totally fair. I wish Christian had noticed that this was happening, because she seems like the kind of person that would have at least tried to make space for him, too.

Major kudos to Christian. It must have felt like everyone was against her including the skydiving people, but she held her ground fairly well. Plus, she was a woman hanging out with only guys. That can be intimidating too. I am a woman who voted for Trump, but I can tell that Christian is a lovely person. We need to close the gap amongst Americans. Much love ❤

As a woman and someone who has voted Trump since 16, I had the same thoughts. Being surrounded by the opposite gender can be a little isolating and as a female surrounded by males has a bit of an intimidation factor.
Everyone seemed like quality people that were concerned with others' well being so that helps.
Yes, both Micah and Christian were great about being open to find connection despite political differences.
