I think people are well within their rights to commodify or not commodify their fursona as they see fit! However, I'd personally balk at doing so, because it would break my heart to see my fursona misused, abused, disrespected, misappropriated, or otherwise associated with beliefs, behaviors, people, or products I didn't approve of.
A fursona is a personal identifier and deeply personal thing that matters to people. That is exactly why it should be commodified, it would be more competitive, accessible, and help the fandom grow. People who argue against profiting off the fandom on principle are silly, sad, and exclusionary people who hate successful people or the concept of money as a whole. Never to be considered. These are the same kinds of people that spam objectionable content at twitter posts trying to normalize furries in the eyes of the masses.
I did not expect that our little furry convention here in Ireland would pop up in a furry news thing of all places, it's not that big and it was a trial run to test the waters xD hopefully with it being quite good we'll possibly see more convention based events, we've already had an increase of furmeets and other activities the last few months, I just hope the others who are running the events don't get too overwhelmed
Alright so as a Singaporean Furry I had just stumbled across this channel and I've got to say I'm quite surprised by the fact that there's a Singaporean furry news TH-cam channel dedicated to the Asian furry scene in the first place. :D The second surprising thing is learning that there's a sizeable following of furries in China and seems like it's more normalised there than Europe or the Americas.
It depends on how one uses their artistic production to create a profit. Like it gets into buisness ethics and stuff which I don't feel like thinking about right now but yeah, getting paid for your work isn't wrong.
china sure does get some really cool stuff wish some of the games there were not limited to the chinese market im sure people would like the features of chinese versions of games that are avalible globally in the game like pubg mobile

If Gintan gave The rights to their sona away, then its up to the company.
Many Commercial sonas already exists
did gintan not sell his character to Tencent haha?
would be great if we can get confirmation on that
I had no idea that there was a furry convention over here and I DIDN'T KNOW...
