This is why the actual tests are important. I actually heard LESS ambient noise during the sound test with Air Pods Pro 2 than with the Bose QC. Everyone’s hearing is different.
thanks for including the buds 2 pro. the anc measures very well on a paper average dB measurement, but it has TONS of gaps in the ANC throughout the frequency response. You can really tell those gaps through your recording. Not even close for the galaxy buds. This vid deserves 100k views at least
Been using my XM5s for several days now. The size of the XM4s never bothered me at all. In fact, the new XM5 form factor actually fits me worse. The glossy finish is terrible and makes the buds slick in the hand and in the ear. Overall the XM5s seem to function well... they just don't offer a large enough improvement over the XM4s (unless they were too big for you). Upgrades - Transparency mode sounds more natural. Small improvement to call quality. Touch controls now allow ANC, playback and volume controls. Downfalls: No big ANC improvements. Glossy finish make for smaller/slicker earbuds and require more finicky adjustments. Overall volume is reduced. Some devices can't seem to tell the difference between the XM4s and the XM5s. 4-tap volume adjustment is basically useless - too many taps to be practical.
@@ricanthony13 I don't have hard numbers for you, but the reported battery life is similar to the XM4 (when new) - before my sudden battery drain after firmware upgrade and subsequent Sony authorized replacement. The XM5s easily last just as long (but I'm not using multipoint currently.
Personally I use the xm5 for music/ media over long periods of time. And using the galaxy buds pro 2 for phone calls. Not sure about in the video. But in a real day to day life use, the difference between the xm5 vs Galaxy buds call quality is night and day. Many people say they can barely make out what I'm saying with moderate/ low background noise... Side note, Samsung can be used with 1 earbud and have all the controls also
Regarding sound quality comparison in the review, I played it in my car. At first, I thought the Sony’s were better hands down. But, then, I played the song from Spotify, also in the car. Using that as a reference, I was surprised that my opinion changed. Now I think the the AirPods sound the best, hands down. I’m only comparing Sony, Bose and AirPod because the Samsungs were playing a wholly different segment of the song. What accounts for the change in perception? And, is this an appropriate way to judge my preference?
I'm a Samsung fan, but I would never recommend the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, just like the Airpod Pro 2, I hate anything restricted to a particular ecosystem. The Bose are too expensive and only have ANC for them. The XM5, are just LinkBuds S with memory foam tips and sold too expensive. Just buy LinkBuds S or JBL Live Pro 2 + memory foam tips if you want to improve their ANC and get closer to the ANC level of the Xm5 or Airpod Pro 2.
Deciding between XM5s and QC2s. XM5s are 30% more expensive, from comfort perspective would QC2s be more comfortable than XM5s by a significant amount? I had XM4s and they were not comfortable let alone I had battery drain issues. Thanks
Hey mate, I've got the qc2's and although they are excellent I find the build choice a tad strange. They are quite bulky and the stem sits forward towards your mouth so then you move / feet hot the ground they tend to shift in your ears. Very frustrating
amazing how airpods pro2’s mics are still the best even in late 2023.. question: when you take them off from your ears, do the buttons/volume sliders get triggered? (also if you don’t have ear detection on, when you put them in, do those buttons get accidentally triggered?) thanks
For sound quality if you care about "good wireless sound" definitely the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, of course if you're not a bass head or prefer to hear music with V shape profile.
I’d actually take any of the other pairs over Samsung for sound quality. Additionally, Samsung doesn’t offer the ability to use a Five band EQ or the Hi res codecs. They would be best suited for someone who already on the Samsung device. Everyone else should probably choose one of the other models mentioned here.
@natesmith3653 of course from an audiophile perspective, all TWS sucks and talk about hi-res is kinda ridiculous but if you pay attention to the sound graphics presented here, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro has more balance sound (still consumer tws) compared to the others with a V-shaped sound. The best earbuds hands down is Beoplay EX once you listen to that you will hate every other earbuds. This is top teir in TWS category the best even among top teir. The second best for me would be ATH-TWX9 or B&W Pi7 S2. Beoplay EX sound is as close to being in a concert as it can be.

Are you using the pre production model for the XM5 that seems to cause an issue with call quality for other reviewers. Also firmware 2.0.1 seems to have solved call quality issues for other reviewers as well. Is that what you're using?
as someone who uses earbuds for mostly listening music and watching videos, the sound quality is the main thing I want and Sony and Samsung are the preferred one for me.

You people are not audiophile at all. Bose is far far better in terms of sound quality, the separation is very good. The best earphone I have tried would be Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX and second B&W Pi7 S2 or ATH-TWX9. Once you listen to Beoplay EX you will hate every other earphone. Their is nothing compared to this. If you like normal thumping music you will love Sony. And Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II has the best ANC better than any other earbuds on the market.

Very good as usual, but Aaron you really do need to try some other ear tips in the Airpods Pro 2. I have the Bose QC II and the Sony XM4 and XM5s and, with the properly selected ear tips. my APP2 have at least as good to a little better ANC than any of the others, including the Bose. And, as you know, you mentioned the APP2s were not staying in your ear well, which is a sign you need different tips. ;)

I have them. The sound is pretty good but the call quality is significantly subpar for the other person. I hear great on calls but they don’t hear me well at all. As soon as I switch to my phone the other person says it is so much better.

+1 my xm3 and xm4 , I rarely use them because they are uncomfortable, battery failure after only one year too. For comparison, my first generation AIRPOD PRO is still working normally after more than 3 years, i use it daily.
I am getting more and more skeptical about the sound comparisons of earbuds on TH-cam, because it always depends on used equipment and how they are conducted. The results on the channel "This is Tech Today" sound very different than here. I liked Bose tuning more in comparison there, but here I like the Sony better. Conclusion: you have to compare them in your ears... Everything else is not reliable.
buds 2 pro are goated in terms of sound stage and clarity but anc and some features are missed best for samsung users, airpods pro 2 are goated in terms of features and overall and for apple users its the best choice, xm5s are good for bass and anc and multipoint functionality its a great option if youre a android and windows user, i dont like bose at all but bose anc is goated
Yea I have the Buds 2 pros and the noise canceling is not like that. I can’t hear a single thing when I have the ANC turned on, even when I have nothing playing and in loud places. Also there is an app for them on the iPhone. The Galaxy Buds app
The music used for sound test is wrong. No Bass, drums or electric gitar. Give us sound sample that including tracks that has that so we can hear how that would sound
I tried the XM 5`s and couldn`t get the ANC to work AT ALL. I tried all the ear tips and a recommended 3rd party tips and got nothing. I assume I got a bum pair and I returned them the same day.

Somehow, I've gotten into the habit of buying every new TWS earbuds that are tested as having the "best" ANC, and I naturally came across your comparison. I thought that the new Sony earbuds didn't really perform well (like I said, all I care about is the ANC). So, I looked into more tests and read through them to see if it might be related to firmware or something similar. The fact that Rtings addresses this so directly confirms my suspicion. impressed with the sound improvements over the Xm4's, excited to get a pair after hearing this. I'm sure the active noise canceling, call quality, and transparency modes become stronger after a few updates, history shows. After that these definitely will be the best OVERALL buds money can buy for a good while.
And these will probably break again shortly after the guarantee expires (or the battery will only last a few minutes), so that you have to buy new ones in time 😂

Great video 🎉 I have had the AirPod Pro 2 since launch and I am absolutely in Love💕 with them. I wear them 9 hours a day and they just work. That what I like the most.
The battery life is terrible, and you have to use a brain-tickling tip then crams them way in your ear to get good bass... i totally regret purchasing them. Also the part outputs the sound (where your tip goes on) is so slippery that silicone tips won't stay on but keep sliding off and getting stuck in my ear... worst buds ever. I have a $30 pair that are better.

I've been using the Soundcore liberty 3 Pro's but they're starting to fail. I was considering the XM-5's as I want a good pair of earbuds that sound nice with full sound with good base and of course something that's comfortable

Yeah the ANC on the buds 2 pro sucks. I actually think it was better on the pro but the size of the pro made it a really bad fit.

Which firmware do you have on xm5? Because they released new one shortly after xm5 were released and it should help with call quality.

But xm5 foamtips does last only 3-4 months. I use my pro 2 with azla earfit max, it does have bit better grip and offer other sizes.

I noticed when i did a firmware update on my whxm5 and wfxm4 spatial audio is not available on my samsung galaxy fold 4. Are the wfxm5 the same?

I can use the "find your equalizer" feature on my XM4 and it sucks. I prefer to tweak it manually. For me, the XM5 is not a worth to replace my XM4.

The airpods pro 2 are miles ahead. The trouble is I'm an android user. I don't think the galaxy buds are worth buying at this point.
Regarding full control in one bud only, you have also the Huawei pro 3 and the Oppo enco x2.

It is interesting to compare the sound and noise reduction with the Technics EAH-AZ80
buds 2 pro are goated in terms of sound stage and clarity but anc and some features are missed best for samsung users, airpods pro 2 are goated in terms of features and overall and for apple users its the best choice, xm5s are good for bass and anc and multipoint functionality its a great option if youre a android and windows user, i dont like bose at all but bose anc is goated

Yea I have the Buds 2 pros and the noise canceling is not like that. I can’t hear a single thing when I have the ANC turned on, even when I have nothing playing and in loud places. Also there is an app for them on the iPhone. The Galaxy Buds app

I tried the XM 5`s and couldn`t get the ANC to work AT ALL. I tried all the ear tips and a recommended 3rd party tips and got nothing. I assume I got a bum pair and I returned them the same day.

@aaronloudnwireless Hey there. Did you test the Sony headphones with a connected account using an app for your ANC test? In their review, Rtings mentioned that they consistently experienced weaker ANC when not using a user account.

Somehow, I've gotten into the habit of buying every new TWS earbuds that are tested as having the "best" ANC, and I naturally came across your comparison. I thought that the new Sony earbuds didn't really perform well (like I said, all I care about is the ANC). So, I looked into more tests and read through them to see if it might be related to firmware or something similar. The fact that Rtings addresses this so directly confirms my suspicion. impressed with the sound improvements over the Xm4's, excited to get a pair after hearing this.
I'm sure the active noise canceling, call quality, and transparency modes become stronger after a few updates, history shows.
After that these definitely will be the best OVERALL buds money can buy for a good while.

The battery life is terrible, and you have to use a brain-tickling tip then crams them way in your ear to get good bass... i totally regret purchasing them. Also the part outputs the sound (where your tip goes on) is so slippery that silicone tips won't stay on but keep sliding off and getting stuck in my ear... worst buds ever. I have a $30 pair that are better.

Airpods Pro 2 sound much more balance.. For sound quality i go for Airpods Pro 2

I've been using the Soundcore liberty 3 Pro's but they're starting to fail. I was considering the XM-5's as I want a good pair of earbuds that sound nice with full sound with good base and of course something that's comfortable
I have the liberty pro 's. Sound on them is superb, but battery drains fast. Just got the xm5 and sound real good with good battery
