I need to get the rest - some which I have read out of order borrowed from friends. The great thing is for the most, the stories are so rich and complete that it's not absolutely necessary to read them in sequence. Although the grand arc does need the last two or three volumes, I am guessing, to be read in concluding order.
@@ftloc I started with Pluto and then went to his Monster series before I read 20th century boys. I am interested to hear about someone going to the 20th century boys book after Pluto.
Awesome! This really helps in expanding my collection! I have been trying to buy Lone Wolf and Cub for a long time but always ditch it in favor of something else.
Thanks, glad you liked it! Lone Wolf and Cub is superlative but I don;t know if one needs to have every single volume. Doesn't stop me from still getting and reading them when I can, just that I'm in no tearing hurry!
Woah! That's an awesome and varied collection.... Love it! I love the Matchbox Comix and I have the second set too... bought it at Bangalore Indie Comix Fest. If it's not listed on their website, they most likely sold out, but I will request Tina to let us know the availability.
I've been wanting to read Lone Wolf and Cub since ages! But I'm very wary of those spines. Hard to believe that they can see through the wear and tear :-/
I should have mentioned the spines, but I didn't want to get into the weeds. BUt they're great editions, with a slight curve that allows you to open the pages wide throughout and not crease the spine at all. Time will tell on the wear and tear, but it's Dark Horse, who haven't yet failed me on production, so I am optimistic!
Bro hats off!!! Your collection never stops to amaze me When talking about indie comics its been always image and humanoid comics But ur channel introduced me to so many artists that i never gave a second thought about. I ended up buying all of daniel clowes and chalie burns graphic novel Considering richard salah and chaboute Can u recommend some matt kindt I have read his mind mgmt long time ago, also jeffrey brown looks interesting. I never bought these comics, was actually waiting to get rich to buy them. But now iam looking for sales on amazon to get em, since its my only resource. Wats ur thought on these used books on Amazon mostly sold by thriftbooks india. And do make these great contents. And please do artist showcases. Tc bro
Thank you so much, and I’m very happy to hear about your branching out to new creators. As I said here, I’ll recommend Matt Kindt’s Suoer Spy to almost everyone, what fun to read that is! And yes, I intend to keep making videos for the foreseeable future, as long as you keep watching! Thank you so much again for the support and encouragement!
Lone Wolf and Cub is definitely my favorite manga, could almost be considered my only manga if not for some of the other material Koike and Kojima also produced. I bought each of the 28 digest volumes that Dark Horse published as they were published over a two+ year period, and never regretted a single purchase. I also bought the full run of Samurai Executioner as it was also released by Dark Horse. I really considered buying the omnibus editions when they were first released, but decided not to since Dark Horse never corrected the one problem with their version of Lone Wolf and Cub. Since they used mirror images of the original artwork to make it read from left to right, they effectively made every character is the series left-handed. First Comics started translating and publishing Lone Wolf and Cub several years prior to Dark Horse, and if you ever get a chance to read any of their editions, jump on it! All the pages had the panels cut and pasted so that they would read in the correct sequence from left to right but were not "reversed" like Dark Horse's pages, and they were printed on full comic book size pages instead of the digest size. As large as the omnibus pages are, the First Comics pages were still larger.
Wow, thanks for that great tip! I'm going to start looking for those First Comics books now, although I don't hold high hopes of being able to locate them here in India. And I never once thought about the reversing of hands - not knowing about the way that DH did it, and not having any 'original' samples to compare to. Thanks for making my day a little richer! The omnibus editions are great to read otherwise, I can't fault Dark Horse for their binding and production, which I'm always a bit leery about for large paperback, mainly for readability.
When indeed! I'd love to do one and I think I'll combine it with Calvin and Hobbes but it's just a question of logistics now. Your query has just moved it back up the list!
@@zarrinpervez4314 That's something I have also been trying to accomplish - getting to know a little bit about more indie comics in India. From within my very limited knowledge, I would recommend the anthology Longform, a lovingly put together collection of artists and stories, as well the comics I highlight in my 'Indie comix haul' video. Of older comics I was also impressed with Kari by Amruta Patil. I hope to have more to add to this list the more Indian comics I read!
So cool to see another Indian that's into western graphic novels and manga! I'm settled in Bangalore but attend uni in the UK so I buy all my books here. The 12 Lone Wolf & Cub omnibuses are at the very top of my want list. I highly recommend Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal which are both brilliant samurai series too. Planetes is another incredible series. The author/illustrator of Planetes, Makoto Yukimura has another amazing series called Vinland Saga which is about vikings and comes in beautiful hardcovers. As for Naoki Urasawa, while 20th Century Boys and Pluto are amazing I think his magnum opus is Monster which comes in 9 perfect editions. I know quite a bit about manga especially seinen manga (manga for mature male readers) so do let me know if you want any suggestions. On the other hand I've just bought my first western graphic novel (Green River Killer by Jeff Jensen) so I'm quite a novice when it comes to that medium apart from knowing about the classics like Watchmen, V for Vendetta etc.
I’d love any and all suggestions! I’ve got the books you’ve mentioned on my wish list and will be making my way to them for sure. While niche, there are a lot of comics readers and collectors in India now; I was surprised too when I found all these people online! 😀 Welcome to the channel and hope you enjoy our other videos too!
@@ftloc Thanks, that's really cool! Apart from the series already mentioned above, these are in my opinion the pinnacle of manga (or at least Seinen manga) in no particular order: Berserk, Blame!, Parasyte, Sunny, Ultra Heaven, Akira, Nausicaa, Uzumaki, Dorohehoro, Mushishi, Goodnight Punpun, Message to Adolf, Phoenix, Buddha, Summit of the Gods, Homunculus, Slam Dunk, Real, Tekkon Kinkreet, A Distant Neighborhood, The Walking Man, Chichi no Koyomi, Kingdom, Shigurui, Takemitsuzamurai, Historie, National Quiz, Ichi the Killer, Space Brothers, ES: Eternal Sabbath, Chronicles of the Bizarre and Eccentric (Henjin Henkutsu Retsuden), Liar Game, The Music of Marie, Museum, Not Simple, Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, Me and the Devil Blues: The Unreal Life of Robert Johnson, Panorama of Hell, The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, Song of the Long March, Barefoot Gen, Nonnonba and Utsubora. Some series are out of print and some haven't been officially translated to English but you can find the scans online that have been translated.
@@ftloc cant wait to hear your reviews. I am reading them now and LOVE it. They are borrowed from the library though, but I do intend to own them . Thoughts on the deluxe editions vs trades?
Short answers: I love this series and I would definitely recommend the deluxe editions if you want to own them. The trades I owned have yellowed and foxed and some even came apart at the binding. Cheap Vertigo titles with not the best production quality, but the deluxes (like for Y the Last Man and other Vertigo contemporaries) are definitely the way to go if you know you love the series.
The second volume seems to be out of print and available only at very high prices, which is why I haven’t been able to get a copy and finish it. But what I’ve read is quite good and I recommend it. I talk about it a bit in my honourable mentions for Top 10 Sci Fi video.

I'll try but I'm honestly intimidated by how many volumes there are and wonder if I enjoy that kind of (fighting) based storytelling. Maybe I have the wrong idea about it, which mainly comes from the TV show, which I could never get interested in...
