The car looks very good and quiet. I like that the route was very long for a launch drive which is atleast enough to give a meaningful insight of a vehicle, so very good from Baic...thanks for the POV and good luck as always 🙏
Yeah, this is one of the best routes in Gauteng surely! The car actually is well packaged, South Africans need to look into this one and consider it. Thanks a lot Demtumza, much appreciated🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙂
😅😅😅🙂... Thank you so much Duncan. It mostly depends on how long I have the car for, the set up in which I am reviewing it from. I always try to do this if I had a car for a longer period, luckily I managed to shoot on this one which is usually difficult to do. I really appreciate you and the warm words though!🙂🙂🙂
I knew you won't disappoint. 👊🏾😁 Seems like it's a good alternative to its other Chinese counterparts. Makes me wonder though if it'll be wise to go for this one or to wait and see if Baic will bring the Beijing X7 this side too like Haval did with the H6 and Chery with the 8 and 7 Pro.
Thanks a lot Neo, glad you are here😉🙂👏🏾🤜🏾 By the look of things, they are here to stay, there is a real possibility that they will be increasing their catalogue. Currently they are mum on any other future models🤔
Ya, the Chinese are not coming, they’ve arrived a long time ago. I cannot stop thinking my next cars will be a Chinese one. The other makers cannot compare on price for what you get.
🎉🎉sebuwa m loving the video , can’t wait for the in depth review where they leave you us and the car , what do you think the monthly instalments will look like I saw a reviewer from SA saying somehow like 9k a month which sounds ridiculous if the car is 460k
Thank you so much Ndumiso. Will be waiting for it🙌🏽 They are right top spec is R455K, if you get it at 10.5% prime it will be R9.8K over 5 years and R8.5K over 6 years. That's if you took it with no balloon and deposit. It also excludes insurance.
Very good looking, well priced and well specced with a nice powerful engine. However, it does NOT have any form of navigation and does NOT support android auto or Apple carplay. This is an absolute deal-breaker for me.
That app they use is a little off, it mirrors the phone just as is in portrait mode, it looks like an afterthought, I guess the America-China tech war affected some negotiations here, remember this is government-owned in Beijing.
So many people criticize these Chinese brands. Imagine Chinese in another decade. For one they will dominate EV and PHEV sales here. I have no regrets buying a SUV from a competitor Chinese brand.
About the sound insulation, someone has also noted that the corolla xi base and the xs, xr feel different in terms of that. So suspect that on the base models they really strip out more than just features but also maybe sound insulation material 🤔
True, lower spec variants tend to feel cheap sometimes, even with some luxury brands, such as base spec C180 Merc. I hope it does not compromise on safety as well. I think Ncap is usually done on all models which would give us some comfort in that area. 🤔
My Mann 🙏🏾👌🏽 This product is really good. I’m still shocked there no panoramic roof and I’m sure they could have slotted it in pricing. I’m very pedantic when it comes to reliability and a car with mainly screens and no buttons is going to be problem for sure and it’s not going to be a cheap fix .. I like the idea of the service plan being stripped out of the cost and charged separate but personally I would never want to take my new car anywhere expect to the manufacturer who makes it😮 The X55 is in any case a new offering you telling me all our RMI approved service centres already know the vehicle?😮😅 highly unlikely… I’m just thinking though when you tell people what you drive - “oh I drive a Beijing X55”😂😮 seems like a aero plane name🤣🫣😀 Good looking car though.. If I won the lotto would keep one in the yard😅 or use it to be Chauffeured 😊
😅😅😅... The aeroplane part kills me. We will get used go the name with time I guess. It has actually has panoramic sunroof, the mid and top spec come standard with a sunroof. Looking at the fact that it's a new car (brand aside) I'll always be worried as well if I have to work on the screen with everything especially on a few first batches. Amazing analysis there by whether there are people who would know the mechanics of this vehicle but there are "Merc" rumours😅😅😅. I honestly liked what they put together here! Thanks a lot brother, appreciate your presence🙂
There is a cup holder on the centre console in front and yes on the side you have bins for holding bottles. Check this walkaround for more details: th-cam.com/video/NwrBGONN42g/w-d-xo.html
Depends on which Chery and Haval. This has a better engine performance compared to Tiggo 7 Pro and Jolion. In all other areas I find those cars to be much better and if I had to choose I'd take the Tiggo 7 Pro
I'm with a new BAIC country distributor in Malaysia. Apparently the 1.5 turbo engine on this car, the "Magic Core" engine architecture if I'm not mistaken, used the Mercedes 2-liter turbo engine as the base architecture. BAIC after all is a 10% shareholder in the Daimler group and likewise Mercedes is also a shareholder of BAIC, so such powertrain redevelopment isn't unusual for the group. BAIC used the base Mercedes donor engine as a starting point and worked with another German engine R&D outfit to develop it into this 1.5 turbo Magic Core engine. Apparently some of the engine components are still interchangeable with the donor Mercedes engine.
Pity there is no climate control which means you'll be constantly fidling with the screen (as you can see in the video) trying to get the temps right, which in my opinion is very dangerous, this should have been standard, also only rear camera, yes i know, shocking, nowadays cars in this bracket should have cameras all around.
I hear you Rene, the spec level could be better in those areas especially for a Chinese vehicle, they have spoiled us a lot lately. We now know they can give us the tech for way less cost compared to many rivals. This should have gotten that as well. The aircon is actually frustrating to operate yoh! I guess owners will get used to it but it's a mini mission!
@@sebuwam dct are famous with snatching when complete stop then drive in traffic jam & snatching when gear down then gear up suddenly. those snatching happening because there is no TC (torque converter). those snatching causing clutch, oil & engine\transmission rubber mounts consumed fast. it also raise transmission temperature with light warning in traffic jam. buying a car that snatch is unpleasant driving & disappointing

@@sebuwamActually, wet clutch DCTs are getting better and better. A lot of problematic DCTs were especially the dry clutch models e.g. Hyundai DCTs, VW's DQ200 7-speed DCT, Getrag DCTs on many Ford group vehicles, some other dry clutch DCTs in Renaults, etc. Dry clutch DCTs have poor creep and low speed operation. Most modern wet clutch DCTs have pretty good creep and low speed operation that you can't differentiate it from a torque converter auto 99% of the time.
I test drove it last month and I was taken, have my set on it. I will be buying it end of July. I can't wait.

Don't like the Tesla type interior I guess it's personal preference. The Haval H6 or even Cherry seems like better Chinese options.
