Jess, I’ve been watching you for years and I work in cyber security, specifically working with passwords. This might be my favorite video of yours, thank you for spreading awareness around password security!
On a similar coffee habit stacking note, when I bring my empty coffee mug back to the sink, I rinse it out, fill it up with water, and chug the water. So for every cup of coffee, I drink a cup of water.
Part of me wonders of she wears her more than 2 days as well but was afraid to admit to longer because it might sound "bad". Maybe not but if i was her I'd prob do the same thing. Lol. But yeah i wear mine for 4 or 5 days. Just depending. Just because theyre not really dirty and it saves on laundry.
Am I the only one that wears my pjs for longer than 2 nights? Oops... I think I wear mine for like a week or so because I switch them out when its time to do the laundry. But I also shower right before bed so maybe that makes it ok? Asking for a friend haha
Nope, I change my pjs weekly when I do my sheets. Sometimes in summer, if it’s especially hot (no ac) I might do have two I alternate for a week. I don’t know anyone other than Jessica who changes more than weekly, unless sick or hugely sweaty
I use one of those towel ladders against the wall as a sort of 'hamper' for clothes that aren't technically clean but I want to wear again - it looks cool and works for the 2nd day pj storage!
I’m 63, and while I know I am definitely a real adult, there are moments I still feel like I’m faking it. And thanks to you, I have bread on my grocery list. :-)
We did something similar to your shared gift list with our adult kids. Everyone filled out a gift survey of things they like and now we have everyone's lists. Favorite color, favorite stores, favorite food/beverage, favorite scents, clothing sizes, things you like but don't buy for yourself, things you don't like as gifts etc. It was very fun and handy!
Thats really smart!! Im going to use that idea for my family!! Especially my inlaws. I have a hard time some yrs and their difficult anyway because theyre so well off they want for nothing.
Oh Jessica I have a whole shelf for keeping my "not clean but not dirty" clothes so I can wear them again but also not mix them in with the clean ones 😂 I'm with you!
LastPass is a great option. It creates passwords, saves them, enters them for you. It works on pc and on your cellphone. You just have to remember your one main password and it handles the rest. I highly recommend it.
Labeling the dates on skincare and some makeup has been the best thing I’ve ever done, been doing this for a couple of years. I gang my PJ’s on a hook behind my closet door.
Another reason to keep a printed copy of your passwords (and to have a numerical passcode backup on your phone) is to make life easier for whoever has to deal with the aftermath in the event of your sudden demise. I am much older than you, so death no longer seems like a “someday” proposition. And any of us could go out one morning and not come home.
These are my favorite videos to watch from you! These are all great ideas. I just recently started trying to be more "adult like", and it has really changed my life so much. Getting more organized and using my planner daily has helped so much! I always thought people were being so ridiculous with their cleaning schedules and stuff, but it has made things a million times easier!
I shower and then put my nightgown on. I sleep, and then wake up and get dressed. Might be gross but I wear my nightgown all week. I wash on Saturdays when I do laundry. It’s never being put on a dirty body so I’m not worried about it 🤷🏼♀️😆
So, I don't buy my kids things at the store that they want on random days, but they always just like to look at things. What I do is take pictures of the things they like and save the pictures in a folder on my phone and when it comes time for special occasions, I go into my "gifts" folder. I send aunts and uncles or grandparents pictures when they ask what my kids like. It makes it easier for me and my kids are always good about walking away from things because they know I have pictures of them.
👏🏻👏🏻 THE COFFEE MUG IDEA 🎉🎉 Genius! I have SOOO many coffee mugs and they take up so much space. Definitely going to start storing them and switching them out
I keep a calendar on the bathroom wall, facing the toilet. Next to it is a small wallhanging planter full of pens, including "shape" markers. Appointments are added and chores are checked off every time I potty. Footprint on the day means I exercised, flower means I watered plants, paw print means I cleaned up for pets, ect.
Also, I've not used it in years, but I used to keep a file box, with tabs for days of the week, weeks of the month, and months. Scheduled chores had a card, that got moved back to the next occasion after I did them. Different colors meant different things, and the time interval was written at the top of each card.
I’ve started keeping a note of when I open my mascaras recently but I need to start doing it with skincare. I’ve always kept my pyjamas under my pillow. I usually wear my pyjamas for 3 nights.
There's an app called "if this then that" or ifttt, it automates some habit stacking for you, such as "if I'm connected to the home wifi, set my phone ringer to vibrate" or "if my nest is set to AC mode, check window alarms" etc. I like it because it automates a lot of tasks.
Love the habit stacking idea. Habit to share, I hung a valet rod, from home depot, in my closet and I hang my most worn tops, tees etc so I don't need to look very hard for favorite items. I can get dressed in a hurry and always have a clean ironed outfit to wear.
Jess! I needed this, I just turned 27, and I'm like still trying to figure out how this happened. but adulting has become real Lol Love ya! you look amazing!
You have me feeling SO accomplished because over the last year or so, my partner and I have started doing a lot of these things on our own and let me tell you... life = so much easier.
Yes to making a list of birthday ideas!! I’ve doing that for 2 years now and it makes ALL the difference. People actually like and use what you get them!!
To bounce off of number 1, the I’d like to recommend the cleaning app Tody! You can set chores for different rooms in your house as well as their frequency. It helps make cleaning feel less daunting when you only have a handful of tasks a day rather than thinking you need to clean an entire room at a time. I like that it gives me peace of mind that I’m staying on top of everything and not forgetting anything.
Yes! I'm 23 and I've been wearing my pajamas for multiple days for years. I put them on a little ottoman beside my bed 😊 I also do the same with my jeans!
I have a decorative basket next to my hamper where I keep items that can be worn again. Like you, I don't like to hang them back up or put them back in a drawer. I feel like I wouldn't know what was actually clean and what could use a wash. This way, I can pick things out of the basket to wear again throughout the week, but I can still easily identify that they have been worn, which makes it easy to include in my next load of laundry.
Thanks for the password reminder. We use a shared grocery list, gift list, and family calendar. Such great ideas for getting a good start to 2021. My husband loved Tyler’s cauliflower cutting and has now cut his this new way. He said it works great, thanks Tyler! We also have a shared family album that we all add pictures too. This is a great way to see new pictures of our grandchildren who live states away.
I'm a HCP and just tested positive for COVID this week. Your vlogmas series is the only Christmas I'm going to have this year and I'm endlessly grateful to you and Tyler for welcoming us into your family every day.
Yes, I also wear my pajamas for 2 nights and I also hide them under my pillows or set them neatly folded on my corner chair. These were some great ideas. I think I will def implement the monthly, quarterly and yearly lists for around our house. Thank you!
Jess, since this is your latest video I thought I’d put my comment here although it’s miles off topic. Just saw your video of you singing, “I’m Not Afraid”. I used to be in the industry and I have a question: WHY AREN’T YOU ON BROADWAY?????❣️I mean, you know, pre-COVID. Jess, it was brilliant. I don’t use that word lightly either. Your talent is vast. You have charisma. You finessed the hell out of that song. Nothing fake or pushed. Truly Jess, really really GOOD. Buying-a-ticket-to-see-you GOOD. Quite seriously...GOOD.
I loved your advice about writing the dates on make up and skin care containers . I started doing that about 5 years ago and actually keep a mini sharpie in my makeup kit so i can quickly add the date I opened it. It takes 2 seconds and i know that each product is good to use or know for sure when it's time to toss :)
Jessica/Tyler i feel like your videos, have really helped me cope during this pandemic and I didn’t realize it until now ! God bless ya’ll and I’m looking forward to what this year bring for you all :)
Habit tracker is huge! I keep one on graph paper or a bullet journal. Not only is it motivating to see how often I hit my goals, but its also helpful to see how I did overall for the day or week. I find that I hold myself more accountable if I know I've slip up elsewhere. For example if I didn't eat a healthy lunch I am more motivated to workout.
Great ideas! I know you’ve mentioned that sometimes you don’t sleep great, not sure that this will help but for some people certain vitamins are more energizing so may want to try taking it in the morning.
Hi Jessica I gatta be honest this video is very helpful I am not a very organized person and that has been my goal for the year and I haven’t done well this year so fingers crossed 2021 would be better. On top of everything I have been not only homeschooling but also taking care of a very ill mom at this time. It’s been really rough seeing my mother battling the brain tumor and the pain she is going through. It’s been just a very long year of mentally and physically exhausting but I am grateful we are all alive, blessed to have a roof over our heads, working cars and amazing doctors. Unfortunately medical bills are growing due to not able to afford insurance. My health is on the rocky time as well. Not certain why I am breaking down to you but you are like a friend to me. I think you are sweet and I adore your family. Wish I can meet you in real life. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Sending everyone Happy Holidays. ❤️🍾💖
I do the gift note idea....I still have an idea for my dad on it since I couldn't do it this year due to covid. Something I also like to do that goes along with quarterly lists is sync up as much as I can to a subscription service. I have a quip toothbrush and automatically get a new brush head sent every 3 months and whenever I recieve that I know it's time to throw out my old mascara and open a new one, etc.
Wow, I didn't realize habit stacking was a thing. Because I'm now realizing I do it all the time. Big one for marital happiness was to teach my husband to lock the door as he walks in the house, before taking his shoes off. One that I'm adding into my life this year is to listen to music while eating breakfast/drinking coffee, as a way to gently and kindly reduce my screen time first thing in the morning (I'm allowed to use my phone, but I find I naturally use it less if I have music playing). I've really been enjoying this one!! It's kind of an "add veggies" rather than "remove cookies" habit if you know what I mean. And listening to music is just good for my mood.
I made the Hello Fresh sesame soy bowl a couple of nights ago, and it was delicious. I am so glad I started using meal delivery services when I became a parent! So much less stress and effort, and I can use that energy for other things.
COOKIES from the vlog on Tylers channel: You have got to try Chocolate Ginger Molasses cookies. They are seriously amazing! Also making chocolate crackle cookies (basically any recipe for a sturdier chocolate cookie) and pressing down the middle and then adding dark chocolate ganache to the center after they've cool. Both are requested every year from my friends and family, but the ginger cookies have got to be the fan favorite (and mine!).
Oh, you can add smart bulbs to your outside lifts and set Alexa to turn them on and off at certain times. It’s super nice. We also have our living room lights set to turn on at sunset. It’s a nice reminder of what time it is so we don’t just sit on the couch for hrs unaware!
Lot of great tips Jessica, thanks! I do keep a running to do list, but @ 60 I still don't have a lot of structure. I wake up, get my coffee, drink a glass of water 🤘feed the cats, turn on the news, drink my coffee, look around, and think hmm, I think I'll vacuum today 🙄 Loving your Vlogmas videos, you guys are so fun! My Granddaughter likes to watch Gigi when I baby sit. I just cracked myself up thinking what if I did a vlogmas? Omg "well, I didn't exercise today." "Hi Im back from PT for my torn rotator cuff", "well it's 3:00 I'm going to take a nap" Watch me chasing the cats out of the Christmas tree, see you at dinner, "Guys these Stouffer dinners are just mmmmm! " In bed at 8. Maybe this is why I watch you and Tyler 🤔🤭 Love you guys!
I remember my mom saying something similar about never feeling like an actual adult. Yet she's an amazing school physician and is basically a superwoman coming to the rescue whenever needed. I guess you can stay young in your heart regardless of your age (kinda cheesy but true) 🤗
Just finished station eleven last night! Such a good read and I surprisingly finished it just over a week! Keep the recommendations coming! *patiently waiting for Jessica and Tyler’s second half of the books they read this year*
Jess! I do that with my pajamas!! I put them on top of my pillow though! I also change into my pajamas as soon as I get home from work! Lol! I love my cozy’s!
I was raised by my grandparents and we only did laundry on Sundays so we always had to wear our pj's more than once. So in the morning after making my bed I would put my pj's under my pillow. Still do it to this day as do my kids now. Great ideas Jess!
I think it’s so cute how you realize that you never turn off the lights and that’s because Tyler always does it in like how we are you know like our partners do things for us and for our family that like we would never remember to do
I just have to say that I crack up everytime your dog Pinocchio is shown in your vlog...his face expression and eyes just kill me so much when you talk to him! 😂❤
I'm in my 50s and still don't feel like an adult. My mother is in her 80s and says she still feels like she's 16. I don't know if you ever really feel like an adult.
My daughter is the same age as you are and I have to say you are wise beyond your years! I'm going to try a few of your ideas because they are so smart!
Jess, the answer to when you truly feel like an adult is "never" -- at least for me and most people. I mean, in regards to some things, sure. But at heart? I think even 80+ year olds feel like children inside, a lot of the time. One more reason we should all be extra kind to each other. In some ways we're all unsure/frightened children at times, kwim?
LOVE your mug idea, I need to try that. We have sooooo many and we only use the same handful and the rest are cluttering up a cupboard so we have no room for all our teas and hot chocolates where we use them. Will totally have to try that one.
I forever have to thank you for the reccomendation of the day designer planner. The literal beast planner that I've EVER used! I gotta go find you on good reads now lol
I feel more adult when I get excited about things that only an adult would be excited about like I got a collapsible bin/crate BEST THING IVE EVER BOUGHT HANDS DOWN it collapses when I don't need it but when I need it Its SOOO handy I use it to carry stuff from downstairs to upstairs or vise versa, I use it to put grocery bags in so I can just grab the crate and take it inside, sheets and towels? BAM crate!! Everyone needs one!!!
We took in my husbands cousin that’s 19 and never had a “mother figure” and she calls me with every problem and that has made me feel like the real adult 😂😂. Mine are 2 & 5 their problems are so much easier!
I have this cute notepad that is a habit tracker and I fill it out everyday and if you are someone who uses a planner already I feel like it's really easy to remember if you keep them together on your desk etc.
Just turned 40 and I thought the adult magic would happen on my birthday and.... still don’t feel totally like an adult. But I also don’t care, which might be the most adult thing of all?
I totally do a seasonal mug switch. I have a lot in storage and try not to have more than 4 or 5 out at any time. I tend to buy new ones and am constantly finding ways to use them other than just drinking out of (like I use several to hold different makeup brushes)
OMG! thank you for this video. I've always thought about these topics but never wrote it down. I'm going to rewatch this video and get things check off my non-existing list!
For the grocery list-my husband has Samsung and I have iPhone so we don’t use the same voice assistant. To fix this, we have a shared OneNote checklist that we’re always adding items to so I don’t have to keep recreating a list. I check the things we need and uncheck them as we go through the grocery store. I’ve organized it by aisles in my local grocery store.
I freaking love hello fresh. Having that area of my life simplified, even just for 3 days a week, has taken so much off of my plate (pun). I have only ever had one recipe that I thought was just “okay” otherwise almost everything else has been an absolute “we’ll make this again.” And their customer service is 🙌🏼
Jess says, " Put your pajamas in a place where you can wear them a 2nd night." Me: It's 5:15 PM and I'm still IN my pajamas. LOL!! We have been working around the house ALL day finishing putting up Christmas decorations!🎅🤶🎄⛄
I totally do the pajama thing and writing the date on the bottom of my products! Writing the date on the bottom of my products lets me know how long they last so it's easier to budget for the future too! :)
After the first time you mentioned AnyList, my boyfriend and I downloaded it immediately and it makes it so easy for grocery shopping! Can't believe I wasn't using something like that before.
I use my Amazon account Wish List. I set it up for a folder for each family member. I also have, Auto, Garage, Kitchen, Food, Beauty, Acne (for my three kids), Anti-Aging (for me), outside etc. When I see something on line I add it. Then like for Christmas, I was able to copy it the list to a spread sheet.
I totally get the pajama thing. I'm the same way. Other than in the middle of the summer (in the south) I will research my pj's. I also don't like to put then back with the clean ones. I have a dressing chair right by my closet. That's often where they go until they're actually ready to be washed.
Jess, I’ve been watching you for years and I work in cyber security, specifically working with passwords. This might be my favorite video of yours, thank you for spreading awareness around password security!
I work in cybersecurity as well and also REALLY appreciated it!
hi! if you dont mind me asking... i am interested in this line of work - do you need a college degree or just certifications of some sort?
On a similar coffee habit stacking note, when I bring my empty coffee mug back to the sink, I rinse it out, fill it up with water, and chug the water. So for every cup of coffee, I drink a cup of water.
2 nights in a row??? Girl I wear my pajamas for like a week straight 😂

I wear mine for probably around 4 days...I kind of just change them whenever I fee ike I need to. Usually go through about 2 sets per week.
I change mine like weekly or more.. I only wear them after showering😂🤷🏻♀️
I'm way way past 45 and feel the same. Sometimes we are all just frightened children. We should all be kind to each other and keep that in mind.
Thanks for sharing!! I’ll share that with my mom next time she laughs at me for not being a real adult

Exactly 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Yes, she has. When the shelves are empty, all the covid toilet paper hoarders will wonder why everyone's buying up all the bread 🍞 😄
I looked at mine & went oh no Alexa's listening she's going to add bread haha.
I literally do the PJ thing 😂 I don’t like putting them back in the drawer if ive worn them so I fold them and put them under my pillow or comforter
🙌 Under comforter, here, too!
Yep. Lightly used PJs are made into the bed. Turn down the covers and there they are.
What a great idea! I always drape them on the edge of my hamper.
Doesn't everyone do that?
Labeling the dates on skincare and some makeup has been the best thing I’ve ever done, been doing this for a couple of years. I gang my PJ’s on a hook behind my closet door.

👏🏻👏🏻 THE COFFEE MUG IDEA 🎉🎉 Genius! I have SOOO many coffee mugs and they take up so much space. Definitely going to start storing them and switching them out

Password vault programs are beautiful. Stickypassword, LastPass, Dashlane, and Avast Password are some of my favorites and they sync across computers.
We finally started using Hello Fresh a few weeks ago and I used your promo code. We are loving it!
Omg Tylers sore gum dad joke...how did we not see that one coming !! We were in tears. Another great vlog .
I read "Adult" in the title first and for a split second I thought this channel was about to take a new turn. 😂
Lol me too!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad it wasn't just me. 😅
I made the Hello Fresh sesame soy bowl a couple of nights ago, and it was delicious. I am so glad I started using meal delivery services when I became a parent! So much less stress and effort, and I can use that energy for other things.
I have a space for my PJs too! So happy to know I'm not the only one who feels that way about PJs!! 😁
I’ve just recently found your channel and am really liking it. These tips were really good - thanks!
COOKIES from the vlog on Tylers channel:
You have got to try Chocolate Ginger Molasses cookies.
I’m 57 and I’d watch your vlogmas, Cindy! You made me chuckle - our lives have a lot in common, except I don’t have a granddaughter. Be well 💕
1 thing i recently learned is using law of attraction affirmations as your passwords so everytime you enter them you are focusing of what you want
That is so smart omg!!!! I been doing an arigato on arigato out wih money so when I pay bills or get paid I'm happy about it instead of resentful lol
I wear my pjs two nights in a row too! And I always have put them under my pillow. I just thought everyone did that!😁
I was raised by my grandparents and we only did laundry on Sundays so we always had to wear our pj's more than once.
When you said “maybe you’re trying to only drink wine” and paused, it spoke to me. I think in 2021, I will try to only drink wine.
I’m with you on the pajamas, usually the same ones 2-3 nights but they get folded and sat and the end of my bed once its made
Great suggestions! I started putting dates on my makeup as well. It relieves a lot of stress.
Two day PJ wearer here 🙋🏽♀️ I was always taught to fold them up and tuck them under my pillow after I make the bed.
41, still not an adult. Funny cuz when I was a kid, my parents seemed so grown up and they were only 30...
So excited for your. Monthly/quarterly list. So many great ideas of what we should be doing 😬🤗
I have only ever had one recipe that I thought was just “okay” otherwise almost everything else has been an absolute “we’ll make this again.” And their customer service is 🙌🏼
I get now why people say they forget how old they are. I’m 28, still wondering how I got here and where the real adults are to guide me 😂
Jess says, " Put your pajamas in a place where you can wear them a 2nd night."
Me: It's 5:15 PM and I'm still IN my pajamas. LOL!! We have been working around the house ALL day finishing putting up Christmas decorations!🎅🤶🎄⛄
You’re very wise and give good life tips! I’d say you’re an adult in the room, for sure. Good job, Jessica! ⚡️💖⚡️
I totally do the pajama thing and writing the date on the bottom of my products! Writing the date on the bottom of my products lets me know how long they last so it's easier to budget for the future too! :)
Very good video Jessica. Useful tips. Thanks!
Thank you sooooooo much for including your to-do list! I've really wanted to see it!
That list of Tyler's is a goldmine I'm sure! Definitely looking at that!!! :D thank you for sharing!! Love you guys :D
Plz remind us about the reminders! 😹when you post them! Plzzzz! I neeeeed that! So genius!!!
After the first time you mentioned AnyList, my boyfriend and I downloaded it immediately and it makes it so easy for grocery shopping! Can't believe I wasn't using something like that before.
What excellent imaginative idea and so sensible and grownup in deed ❣️🥰
I use my Amazon account Wish List. I set it up for a folder for each family member. I also have, Auto, Garage, Kitchen, Food, Beauty, Acne (for my three kids), Anti-Aging (for me), outside etc. When I see something on line I add it. Then like for Christmas, I was able to copy it the list to a spread sheet.
I love the idea of using Any List! I just added it to my phone. And stacking habits is such a great idea!
Jessica just created my first ever shopping list on my Alexa 😂
I totally get the pajama thing. I'm the same way. Other than in the middle of the summer (in the south) I will research my pj's. I also don't like to put then back with the clean ones. I have a dressing chair right by my closet. That's often where they go until they're actually ready to be washed.
