    Stuart - your usual fine job! I particularly like that you took the time to show us what the setup looks like both with and without the grab rail and back rack (with some very nice graphic techniques of making them disappear seamlessly.) Merry Christmas!

    I just pulled my finger out and did the tail tidy job on my XSR900 with the New Rage Cycles FEK. Really makes a massive difference to the look of the bile from the rear, and from the side, never mind the1.5kg weight saving. Only problem was that my alarm system is linked to the lights, so I had to unsplice, and resplice all the.wiring.

    Clear and concise as usual Stuart. I'm not a fan of any of the aftermarket tail tidy systems even for my Street Cup but this is a nice system. I'll send you a photo of my solution when I change mine this week. Cheers mate.

    Nice one Stuart. For my bike (when I eventually get one) I’m thinking of the opposite of a tail tidy, and replacing the stock fender with one that encompasses more of the rear wheel with a small flared end, very retro, which should keep more of the wet road spray off me and my pillion, but no idea where to source one. Any ideas? Cheers Paul

    Hi Stuart, I watched this video loads of times and ordered this very kit and it arrived today. While I'm sure the actual tinkering of nuts and bolts will go just fine I have to admit I'm a bit nervous about the electrical bit as I haven't had any experience at all with that kind of stuff. I guess the main thing will be to just be patient enough until it's all done properly and not rush it. So this weekend I'm getting the bike road worthy again after the winter (sweden) with tyre pressure and battery etc, then I'll dive in to it. Fun times!

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont worry about it, its only really 3 wires you cant really go wrong!

    • @alexanderatkinson2900
      @alexanderatkinson2900 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't believe it but it's finally done, with no electrical fires at all! Looks great except I can't decide if the indicators (same led ones as yours) stick out a little too far when the grab rail isn't fitted, I guess I'll stick the rail on again and have a look or I might have to see about finding other indicators. Anyway I would never have tried any of this without your video so THANK YOU again.

      @stuartfillingham  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice modification, looks crack on :) Might be worth using some black plastic thread cover caps for the open threads (makes cleaning the bike underneath safer and if greased can protect the threads). Also the cap head bolts to the indicators would be nicely finished of with the relevant sized black socket head cover caps (prevents them from being filled with road crap. Beautiful bike mate and if I had one I'd probably copy yours :) Are you putting a race number on the side plates? 120? tcrsm8

    Hi Stuart. What is your opinion of this tail tidy in comparison to the Motone one? Are there any distinct advantages to one over the other. I prefer the coverage that the mud guard on the r&g version offers but I like the lucas style tail light of the Motone unit. I'm torn!

      Ive not had the opportunity to fit the Motone tidy. but it does look very good. personally i dont like the lucas style light, i remember the originals and they still sort of carry a sigma for me.at the end of the day its down to personal choice, im very happy with the R&G tidy and wouldn't particularly want to swap.

    Hi Stuart,
    I really enjoyed watching your video about the R&G tail tidy for the T120 and as a result brought and fitted one last March 2021. However, since fitting the LED rear light that came with the kit, the cruise control stopped working and the engine management light keeps coming on sporadically. At the time of fitting, I didn’t make the connection that the light maybe causing problems. When the bike was serviced by the dealer, I asked if they could investigate? The Triumph fitter diagnosed the problem with the rear light but as it was an aftermarket modification, couldn’t continue to make good. Even though the light was working correctly, I did re-check the 12v wiring connections which were fine. I contacted R&G racing who sent me a like for like LED light replacement, but after fitting it the problem still continued. I recently viewed one of the Triumph forums and discovered that others who had fitted the tail tidy also experienced the same. It appears the Engine Control Unit doesn’t recognise the rear light circuit after the LED modification when the ignition is switched on and assumes the rear light isn’t working. The engine management light may then illuminate which in turn affects bikes fitted with cruise control. I checked other forums but at the moment can’t find a suitable fix other than return the tail tidy kit to R&G. Can you advise if other subscribers to your channel have experienced these issues?
    Kindest regards,
    Paul

      Hi Martin,
      RG racing (who supply the T120 tail tidy) are aware of the problem with the cruise control after the the rear LED light fitting has been replaced. They supplied me with an alternative rear light wiring loom (free of charge) which fixed the problem. The cruise control on my T120 is now fully functional.

      @@fusemate Well that's good news! I'm really pleased that you managed to get a fix Paul - I did actually mail them last night to see if I could get an answer - maybe they've managed to modify the kit by now so that it works out of the box.
      Can I just ask what year your bike is?
      I'm actually just in the process of buying a brand new 2022. I probably won't proceed with a tail tidy right away as it seems a bit of a shame to start ripping a brand new bike to bits immediately - but it would be good to know if anyone has this working on the 'current' model.

      Hi Martin,
      My bike is a 2019 model. I brought it second hand after it was only a few moths old. I’ve replaced the exhaust pipes for shorties, fitted a decat cross pipe, repainted the tank and side panels and fitted the tail tidy. The paint work was done professionally but all the fitting work was done by myself. It wasn’t too difficult to do and I now have a Bonneville which looks so much better than the standard bike. In effect it’s an individual custom bike but done on a budget.

      @@fusemate Sounds good - I spend a lot of time flip flopping between going with something similar aged and buying new - there just wasn't so much money to save by going down the used route to make it worthwhile for me. Though if I had I think I'd be less reticent about tinkiering about with the thing from the get go.
      Don't get the new bike until next week so I'm gonna relax and enjoy it for a while in it's 'vanilla' form, then start to play about with a bit more once we've gotten to know eachother

    Looks great, although I do feel sorry for you poms with those enormous licence plates which somewhat nullify the tail tidy... Down here our plates are about a third of the size (perhaps less) and blend in better. Keep up the good work.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Chris, thats an interesting point! We have twice as many vehicles in the UK as you do in Australia therefore more registration numbers, and ambient lighting for half the year is much lower, hence the size of the plates and larger numbers, The size is pretty much typical across Europe. I'm sure Australia will catch up and have to increase the plate sizes eventually!
