    I love this idea. I have said for years “I wish someone would essentially make a Conn with modern ergonomics”. Now just get it in matte silver plate with gold wash bell and I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

    Sounds beautiful! What an amazing idea….so many VI and SBA inspired new horns…great to see the Conn get some love! How is it similar to the Conn, besides the neck mechanism? Is the bell bigger too? As always you sound incredible. And for everyone out there, I have been the proud owner of one of John’s Custom Tenors for a couple of years and it is an absolutely amazing horn! Nobody better than John as far as making sure the customer gets the absolute best saxophone product and service available. Congrats man! Keep the innovation coming….

      Thank you so much Gerald!! Your continued support of us has been amazing 🙏🙌🎷❤️. The neck dimensions are similar to Lucas’s favorite New Wonder Tenor. Body tube wise it is more SBA style with ergonomic keywork! Bell size is similar to Selmer. Key guards are conn reminiscent but with modern designs and updates making them adjustable instead of just soldered.

    That’s super cool to bring back the old school design with a little bit of modern. I appreciate mostly just playing in reviews but something like this could be spoken on. Like are tones holes rolled? Neck appears to be spot on compared to old conns. Again super cool!

    Great sounding horn, man! But then again: you’ll make a cucumber sound great probably 🤣 could you tell a bit more about the specific design, since it is inspired more on the old Conns? It it more like a Conn ergonomically? Differences in left/right hand stacks? I am interested & I am sure more of your followers are! Fantastic idea indeed!

    Sounding really good. It seems the low notes were a little harder to produce though. Is that just a perception from this end? A hard reed perhaps?

    Will that copper develop a patina, or it has some sort of laquer over it? )

    • @jlwoodwinds6394
      @jlwoodwinds6394  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Really great question Alexander! It will Patina over time. But the keys being brushed nickel will stay the same as they currently are. The body is fully unlacquered!

      We have the parts made over in Asia and then we hand assemble each one in our New York City Sax Shop. It takes around 35 hours per horn!

      And you would be lucky to get $1,000 should you decide to resell it. It's just a hunk of Taiwanese brass with somone's name stamped on it at the end of the day. Buy a vintage Selmer, King Super 20, or a REAL Conn 10M. You'll have something that's actually worth something and holds it's value.

      @@jrbeckman2194 Hey Jasper, I actually can respect your take.
      What I believe is important to note, separating this horn from other modern and vintage saxophones alike and really why I put my name on this instrument, is because John Leadbetter is doing the finishing work on these. I play and own vintage selmer and conn saxophones, each needed to be mechanically rebuilt because the tolerances from any factory aren’t going to be as good as the finishing work of highly skilled technicians. I even had a horn overhauled, and took it overseas, only to have the 90 year old solder fail under a post and pop off. Bad luck! But also, part of the game of playing old horns.
      I really dig what John is doing… offering a horn with comparable material (better in my opinion) to modern horns, at a competitive price, with 40 hours of finishing work poured into the product.
      Saxophone as investment is dope, but these horns are made to play, right now. And, who knows what they may or may not be worth someday…
      They are cheaper than most modern horns, right?
      It’s been priceless for me to have a new horn in my hands, that vibrates like an old horn!
      I know y’all are supposed to be skeptical, I would be too. I sincerely hope you get to try it before your done forming your opinion.

      I own both. Simply put, the Pino 1 is smoking. I know the man that built it. He is golden and 💯 honest, a fantastic repairman and gifted performer. Good luck with vintage instruments assembled by random people that have long passed on.
