Horn sounds great. Man that zoom H5 & H1n audio signal is uncompressed and the automatic gain compensation is spot on ! I think we hear even better how great the horn sounds now that the oscillating reverberation is dialed in and that short shank refaced to 7^ is just tight. Yet one can tell that the lacquer on this horn was layered a little too deep from the factory. Much preferred back in the day.

Yes they do mine is 217 1973 and it has a high F# it plays incredibly in tune so much so that when I compared it to a ref 54 and a Supreme it had better intonation than the 54 and was very close to the Supreme.

I don’t think better is the right word unless what they give you in sound is better for you. I prefer the Mark VI especially late ones for their punchy bright sound but not everyone will want or even like that.

I just purchased this same horn last week. The low notes come out so easy and sound strong. My upper middle to high register isn't as so. Has the G1 neck on it. Maybe I need to make some tweaks in my throat or embouchure. Action is super fast and accurate and tone is bright! I love it.

They are some of the greatest horns ever made. When I was getting my pro tenor, I had the budget for anything, and I’m still playing on that nwii I got, because it’s so amazing

Wow, just an alto I would buy... I had a SML tenor for many years, these horns play themselves... Very tempting...

The S80 II had the best combo of flexibility overtones and warmth. The supreme. Was the most focused and brightest. The Mark VI seemed the most fluid and live. Just depends on what you are looking for. All 3 were exceptional horns.

Impressive

The way you dress makes a difference in your confidence. The sax finish will as well. Technically in a dark room, I doubt any difference. Some like the feel of no lacquer, while others prefer silver etc. Purchase the one that makes you feel good.
