I have to admit when it comes to listening to death metal and heavier metal bands I don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics. I focus in on the music and how it makes me feel and does the lead singers voice compliment the music itself. Then later on , if I like what I hear, I’ll dig into the words. There are many death metal and melodic death metal songs that I have no clue what the actual lyrics are or what the song is about. All I know is the music gets me pumped and I clean my apartment more. lol. Another great job. Stay safe !! ✌️

This is a rabbit hole worth exploring, you guys. “Vultures Fly” would be a great one for you to hear, but honestly, I’ll take any and all Avatar you guys want to watch. “Bloody Angel” is another entry-level song for Avatar. Specific to his video - you did see some of the lyrics on title cards, which is a homage to the silent movie era (the whole video is a play on that era of cinema). “The Eagle Has Landed” was my introduction to Avatar, so I’d also suggest you check that out. Not to mention, they JUST released two new songs Tuesday!

Yay! I kept wanting to recommend “the heavy metal circus” to you, but Avatar isn’t super well known, definitely not mainstream, so I figured if they were put in a poll, they wouldn’t have much of a chance.
My first exposure to Avatar was seeing them open for BabyMetal when they performed in NYC in summer 2019 at Terminal 5. I had never even heard of the band before then.
This band is my favorite in many ways, this Tuesday will be my 20th live show..16th time being in the front row (unless something unimaginable happens Tuesday).. I'm in for every Avatar reaction!!

Try some older Avatar songs like "Queen of Blades" and "Out of our minds"! They are such a great band live, and their songs are very different from each other. The singer, Johannes Eckerstrom has several different singing voices. He sometimes growls, sometime screams, and often sings with a very clean voice. He's a great singer! One of the most versatile metal bands I've ever seen. "Smells like a freakshow" is also a must watch.

Johannas, the lead singer, in some songs shows off his classically trained voice. He is a GREAT singer when he wants to show it off in music. And he can growl too lol.
Also worth mentioning that Avatar helped get me through our third lockdown in the UK earlier this year when they did a series of 4 livestreams with songs from different albums at each. It was fantastic. Gave me a way to celebrate my birthday in January which would have been very grim otherwise!
When I first watched this video when it was as released I lost my mind to seeing the Charleston dance in a metal video. It was absolutely the most metal thing and perfect.
Colossus, the eagle has landed, and bloody angel are a must if your wanting a quick taste of avatar, you get a bit of there up beat stuff, heavy topic stuff and all in varying sounds, they've been around awhile, good stuff
Brad, I know you’ve mentioned how much you like the drums and you guys have done several Tool songs. I highly recommend doing the drum cam version of Tool’s Pneuma. Watch an absolute master at work. You’d never know the man is 60 years old! Also, take note of the jersey flex. Danny is a huge basketball fan and wears a jersey of the local team when they play in an arena. He has been gifted several custom jerseys.
these guys are riff machines, and a lot of their song reading along with the lyrics is not so much a must, but theres meaning behind them you only get if you fully understand them, a few of my faves are black waltz, the eagle has landed, the king welcomes you to avatar country, the king wants you, statue for the king, puppet show and my absolute fave is tower

in the video you can see the little plastic horses, that's the 4 horses of the apocalypse... and the 7 trumpets that emerge at the end "forgive us, we never shall learn" "all the lords I swore to obey, I take it back" also, they are heavily influenced by many of the great metal bands, specifically Pantera... so.. their 6th album, Avatar Country... it's basically a concept album about the king... denoted by 'king' in all the song names... but "The King Welcomes You to Avatar Country" has so many references to other metal bands, and you can see a CFH tat on one of the guy's calves. That's a tribute to Cowboys From Hell. That song also shows off the fact that they aren't afraid to change their sound. I highly recommend it.

You absolutely can't get the same energy from the music video.
