May i just say that this is the best channel for motorcycles these days...the guys are relateable...not talent wise though...its on another plane talent wise...but the insight, knowledge and humour are second to none...and all the best for budget bike battle in North Africa...

I can't help loving this bike... Of all the exotics out there, this bike just gets my attention. It could be that those Ducati engineers that let for Yamaha have really outdone themselves while at Yamaha. Also, this engine is actually a simple one to do repairs on and the valves don't require checking for years! The bike is just built so well...

It would be cheaper if they didn't make 3 different versions of the R1, but they have to do segmentation of the line to allow for people who wouldn't be able to enjoy the R1 at a slightly elevated price... Still, it would've been lower than 21k. Figure 14k, 16k, and 21k. If they could just sell the R1M, they could buy more at bulk pricing for the Öhlins suspension, the carbon, and the titanium valvetrain. Less division in the manufacturing line and more production of one bike.
At 21k for everything that comes with the bike... I don't mind the price, but it's not a bike that you're going to buy when you are 18 to 24. This bike comes later for those who are stable and make decent money. If you work in an oil field in those age groups, you're going to have enough to buy it. Still like it 👍🏼

I have the standard 2015 and its absolutely the best bike ive ever owned. Tested the 1299, S1000RR, GSXR and ZXR of 2016 and the R1 was better for me

This bike gives me wood. First Yamaha I've 'really' wanted since my 350LC.
Badger wouldn’t swap my LC though........which sits in my mates conservatory since I moved abroad 😂

Badass. If i werent getting the Aprilia, id get the 18 R1M. I had the 15 R1M and loved it. The Pani V4 will be worth a look in 2 yrs.

Great job guys. Quick question; does the lean angle of the bike affect the level of ABS intervention and brake pressure on the front brake specifically? I know it does for the back; haven't seen anything regarding the front.

What a great vedio excellent like usual. I do have a question please about when you said if the bike lift on 2nd or 3rd gear coming out of a corner keep it pinned and don't chop the throttle, what happen at that point when you keep pinned, does it continue to lift or What? Please explain. And as usual I appreciate your expert feedback. Regards.

Seriously wondering what mic you use and where it is in the helmet. Audio is so clean.
yeah the abs needs to be adjustable or at least be able to be turned off. and I would like the lift to be adjustable to something as a reference such as setting 1 can come up X amount of inches/mm etc. the brake components are fine. it's the pads that are terrible. I replace mine with Ferodo sintered pads. incredible difference.
I also notice they put symbols in the indicator lights on the dash. that was a pet peeve of mine. a light is on but unless you can remember from your manual you don't know what it is.

Im a kawi guy but for some reason im liking this bike. I wouldnt buy one but looks nice. The new r1 set the bar in 2015 but the competition has caught up.
I bought a brand new R1 S model back in May 2018. Leftover model. The electronics are near identical. Obviously with the M version you get fully automated comp/reb damping control, which is VERY impressive, but otherwise the electronics are very very similar and absolutely incredible. I spent a little over 1,000 between a 3/4 exhaust, ECU flash, Filter and couple other little things. My bike won't outrun a M that has a flashed ecu but it'd keep pace pretty darn close. The dyno charts are not much different either. Just the R1 and R1 M have an extra 1800 rpm and make a few more whp. I would save the money and buy either a regual R1 or even the S model. *By the way: the R1 in ANY form is the most uncomfortable and flat out brutal street bike i've ever owned or test ridden. Get a new seat immediately
How do you think this or the regular R1 would do on the streets? I’ve only been a 600 guy so far. But I’m saving up for either a 1000 or the mt09. I really only like Honda and Yamaha. So the new cbr1000rr would be an option as well.

I know a lot of people using these as street bikes complained about the harsh throttle response at low speeds. Did they fix that or did you not get a chance to putz around at low speeds?

They did a video on 125's, one of those was a 2 stroke aprilia. One of their first video's.
Even as a 2 stroke a 125cc is hard to get exited about. 250 or 350 maybe.
No i didnt mean 125cc i just said old 2 stroke, like 500cc rg or something like that, i was only asking as my first roadbike was an rg and im only 20, need ideas for a good A2 bike
I would say a yamaha xt660x/r would make a good A2 bike. Or do you mean a 2 stroke ?
A2 gets you on power to weight more than anything else. No better than the 33hp 2 years rule. As if you want 47hp you need the 172kg to go with it.
Can you get custom underseat exhaust on the R1m...?
this bike is so sci-fi for me, I'd love to own one! such a shame I couldn't really use it anywhere as it's overpowered for the street and for the very small tracks that are around where i live. And the money of course :D
