Did You Know In THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE…

- The water scenes were filmed in a water park in Atlanta, and the water was just barely 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Lynn Cohen was exempt from filming her scenes in it as the director was concerned for her health and safety. During the scene where she’s carried on Sam’s back, he lost his footing, banged his knee on the rock, and they both fell into the water. He felt terrible for the accident, but Lynn thought it was hilarious. Also, during the scene where Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick eat raw fish, they’re really eating raw fish. Jennifer and Sam aren’t fond of fish, but Jennifer had the hardest time eating it.

I love that the implication is Josh Hutcherson is super cool with raw fish
That's actually ALL he eats, didn't you know?!
@@OpalBLeigh sashimi
@@OpalBLeigh WHY DID YOU WINKKK✋😭
Yeah they had to call for assistance to make him STOP eating the raw fish bc they needed to move on to a new scene it was crazy😩
He's eaten much worse in other films
I was like; “what! They’re actually making them eat raw fish?” And then I realized I was eating sushi
Yeah raw fish isn't uncommon, which is why that's kind of weird.
@@Mediados I think the reason it's weird is because while you CAN eat some fish, if you check it, completely raw, it's not suggested in general because of diseases or other side effects, just like other raw food.
No one is saying you have to eat charcoal, but it's also generally not advisable to eat everything raw, unlike what well-paid steroid-enhanced musclemen will tell you.
Also, it's just generally funny to bring up that while one of the actors was completely fine, Jennifer is over in the corner having a fit that she's being paid well to have a 30 second scene where she eats realistic food.
@@greenpiersystem Yeah Jennifer Lawrence has the reputation of being surprisingly sensitive for the field of work she chose. If you become a professional actor you have to know what you're getting into.
Besides, you can trust the crew that they won't risk food poisoning you. These kinds of things are usually checked three times over before you actually have to do them.
@@Mediados Eh, well, after Rust, I would put a little more skepticism on that.
But yeah, Jennifer Lawrence is not just sensitive. I just didn't want to run her over. I like the Hunger Games movies, but it's this combined with times like when she came up to get an award and was practically falling over herself from how drunk she was that make me go "yup... that's a Karen in a nutshell. She's just pretty and in Hollywood."
@@greenpiersystem the day y’all stop using buzzwords that you don’t understand will be the day i know peace
Basically the casting of Mags was beyond perfect
Sure but I still feel not enough was done with her.
@@ursidae97 I also think she did NOT have to off herself she could’ve tried to “run” next to them bc they were not moving very fast bc of their injuries and they made it
@@maddychans she can't walk independently
@@N0TK8 ik but she walked into the fog she could’ve at least tried to make it they didn’t have to go far. I’m just saying it’s stupid to walk INTO the fog rather than even attempting to survive

I think that's really cute that Sam was horrified and Lynn was just really amused

HAHAAH,
AGAIN!
Sam slips, slams his knee on a rock and falls into the water, but he’s still concerned with apologizing to the little old lady he’s working with 😭
Who finds it hilarious. That actually sounds super painful hitting your knee like that. Ow.
As someone had a pretty severe knee injury with the adrenaline and just the fact of the location (which is pretty hard to break or shatter) he probably only received a few bruises and a bit of soreness. Personally I only felt bouts of pain once in a while and was able to walk pretty fine despite the doctor’s highly recommended me not to and put me into a full leg brace for 6 months
@@splendidhorror1517 That’s true, I have a knee injury from work just by turning my knee the wrong way one day and every now and then the pain still comes up but hitting your knee on a rock definitely sounds very painful
@@splendidhorror1517ive hit my knee on a rock hard before, i didn't have an injury but it actually hurt pretty bad

"Jennifer and Sam weren't a fond of fish-"
Ah yes, Josh totally loves raw fish
I will say, that her falling in the water for 5 seconds is nothing compared to her being on contract, and doing hours of water scene takes.
Director respected the older women, my favorite character from the 2nd movie…
I think she volunteered for Finnick cause she knew he would win, and she wanted him to go be with Annie his wife. Touched my heart when granny volunteered for him. I’m more choked up now while im rewatching the show.
I always got the impression that Mags mentored Finnick during his Games and he became like a grandson to her.
@@mish375they say this in the book/movie. When Haymitch is telling Katniss and Pita’s everyone’s skills and weaknesses he explains that Finnick’s weakness is “Mags. She was his mentor and basically raised him”
Edit: that’s quotes from the movie, not sure if the wording is different in the book or not
@@greenbeantm1096 I hadn't watched the movie in a while or read the books in a while so I'd completely forgotten that Haymitch said that. Looking up a clip I saw that you are correct: it was mentioned that she mentored Finnick.
@@mish375johanna says in the book that mags mentored finnick and was half his family
@@greenbeantm1096 It’s also known that Haymitch (who doesn’t really like or trust anyone) also thinks pretty highly of Mags and has a great deal of respect for her. In the movie, right after he tells Katniss that Mags is Finnick’s biggest weakness, he goes on to tell her “well… I just hope that when she goes, she goes quickly, because she’s actually a very wonderful lady”

The water park is really cool I have been their and I also have been to the place where they had filmed some of the scenes. Its really cool!
Wonder how much of this is true ? 🤣
None of it.
The fish part. That’s it.
The water park is true
@@-ANONYMOUS- no it’s not, there is another video with an interview of the director and he said they filmed in hawaii and i believe it was a different country. not a water park in atlanta.
@@alext5497 the fish part is true
10 years ago…damn time flies
I mean, some people just don’t like sashimi and that’s okay 😅
I would also be totally fine with Finnick dropping me anywhere haha
J Law is so brave for gnawing on that raw fish for our enjoyment true dedication.
Man I’d rather have raw fish than cooked fish unless it’s battered and fried. I blame my upbringing cuz growing up in Hawai’i I was raised on raw fish and will eat it for days 😋
Salmon and tuna are so much better raw than cooked.
@@coffeeaddict9605Mackerel too. Well I’ve had it smoked which is semi-raw I guess. I had to dig it out of the fish carcass and it’s as good as smoked salmon.
It depends on the type of fish for me. Salmon either raw or cooked (smoked salmon I love) is great. I think a lot of people are scared of raw fish because they assume it automatically has worms, which isn't always the case. And if the meat did, it would be obvious and you wouldn't want to eat it.
@@mish375been eating it for 30 years and haven’t had any parasites so far. The places I get it from examine it closely
😢😢 Jennifer, Idk know that we share one thing in common but you are so brave
I still remember watching this movie in theaters and everybody being devastated when Mags disappeared in the fog.
Just thinking about that scene wrecks me
@@pretelquetzal i cried! It’s worse in the book but experiencing that with all the other HG fans made it more emotional.
I loved Mags. She was such an adorable old lady😢
@@allison257 YES. I listened to the audiobooks before I got hard copies and my God, that scene hit me the hardest out of ALL the scenes, and there were like five traumatic ones. Her just realizing she was slowing down the group and the best thing she could do for them was to actively GO to her doom, man.
You hope you’d be that brave if it came to that… but that was like the biggest MVP moment in the whole series for me. It was heartbreaking and absolutely horrifying. I still viscerally remember sitting on my bed and listening in horror as it played out.

It was filmed on the beach and hawai check ur facts
Actually they were also in Atlanta, GA as a co-worker of mine that is also a scuba instructor was in Atlanta at a training seminar for Home Depot and saw the cast and filming crew at the water park. Yes there was filming in Hawaii as well, but also Atlanta
No it wasn’t, the jungle part was not the cornucopia
This was filmed in Hawaii
@@mr.dinklesofficialpage8877 not the whole thing
I assume they mean the rock stuff in the middle was a water park, and then the beach and jungle around it would be somewhere else
another fun fact! the place where they stay before the quell starts, is actually the marriott hotel! it’s a beautiful building and i’ve stayed there multiple times for concerts :)
Lynn ❤️ she will be missed. Wonderful actress.
Me who eats sushi: raw fish?!?!
How are we europeans supposed to know what 50 Fahrenheit is!! 😭
someone said it's 10 degrees Celsius!
They actually filmed this in Hawaii….
They filmed both in O'ahu and Atlanta 💜

Did you know that the "facts" on this short are completely bs?
I mean the cornucopia parts being filmed in a water park is true, but it wasn't in Atlanta, it was somewhere in Hawai'i
can we talk about randy calming back JACKED AF
Daw… at least Lynn had a good chuckle out of it even if Sam felt really bad about it.. 😅😅😅
I just watched catching fire and when i saw them eating the fish i was like "what is that 😭"
So filming the hunger games is, filming the hunger games with hunger games vibes.
aww that was nice of the directer
It was filmed in Hawaii I distinctly remember reading an article with photos
@ReB is the “troll” part necessary? I was calm in my comment
I LUV THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY AND LOVE THE BOOKS EVEN MORE
I didn’t even notice what they were eating
I felt so sad cause Mags have so much potential to be in much more scenes. BTW did anyone notice that no one tried to attack her?
There’s no reason they couldn’t have used a stunt double for Mags, and even changed the double’s face to appear as Mags’ face during compositing in post-production. They did it for Phillip Hoffman’s face to appear on a double as Plutarch.
There has to be some other reason Mags wasn’t included in that scene, Bc it was entirely possible to do. Trust me, I work in film and animation/special effects.
Cost probably. Seeing as Mags isn't a fighter and probably wouldn't be doing much in that scene, it stands to reason that they could shave off some money if they didn't hire a stunt double etc. And just had no shots of her in that section
They never did use a stunt double for Phillp Seymour Hoffman. According to the director, the ending had to be rewritten, it was just footage that was meant to appear in the original ending and he didn't want to waste more money to do CGI.
I like your videos
Yeah and the boys laughed at her for complaining too lol
Easily the best hunger games movie. If u disagree, fight me
wow thats some hot water
Ikr lol
That is 50 f not 50c.
50f is 10 celcius
Raw fish is fine, if you clean it well you can eat it like that or make ceviche, one of the most delicious dishes in my country 🇵🇪
I think Cut took down that video of them guys kissing😅 i tried to find it
So they had to eat sushi omfg I hope they were ok 😢
Did you know the water scene was filmed on water
Exactly!
Lmfao the fact they filmed this at white water in atlanta cracks me up
Wasn’t a fan of fish. It was RAW fish in the sun for hours. It smelt awful they were gagging at it
Yeah I feel sorry for Jennifer cause having to eat something you really hate can be extremely stressful mentally and physically. But I've seen people be really rude like her difficulty made her a diva and she was so privledged that this was a concern. I feel like that's just purposely reading into a situation to insult someone and I hate that celebs have to face that kind of unwarranted lack of empathy. I mean some of them are weirdos and some of them ARE divas but in this case Jennifer was just struggling with something and that doesn't make her a diva...
my favorite hunger games movie
Why did I fall just like fennik one time
Finnick from district 4 don’t like fish 😂
The director took hunger games seriously
I WAS FR TRYING SO HARD NOT TO SCREAM LAUGH AT 11:40 AT NIGHT
Eating raw fish would destroy me emotionally
The fact that the actor for Finnick *DOESN'T LIKE FISH*
Yes I knew all of this!!! HUGE HUNGER GAMES FAN RIGHT HERE!!!
The funny thing is district 4 is actually where Atlanta and Mississippi once were
They should make movie about mags and hamich
Im watching the video while eating lol i almost choked on my food because i was laughing too much 😂

I don't blame Jennifer for having a hard time eating the raw fish, even though I love sushi.
it was filmed in hawaii…
They literally filmed it in Hawaii... there's interviews talking about their time in Hawaii and how Jennifer had fun peeing in the ocean
lmaoo not peeing in Atlanta
Hence the phrasing "they filmed the water scenes [e.g. the rock formation they all swim around] in a water park", implying the beaches and the jungle were somewhere else
It wasn’t a water park. It was Sweetwater Creek State Park. It’s like 5 mins from my house
I read the books a year ago I totally forgot he lost his leg poor soul
Great movie
Commitment for a so-so movie,,,, regrets
Seriously couldn’t have made the temp, say bearable seeing as it’s a tropical scene
I know im late but catching fire was filmed at kua loa ranch in Hawai'i, you can see the famous Mo'o mountain in the background
can you blow my whistle baby whistle baby
The water scenes were filmed in a controlled area in Hawaii
I’d feel like videos like this just use info from the DVD featurettes. It’s already public knowledge.
Is there a Canon reason of why the mentor woman was mute?
Folks need to remember that Freedom Units are only really used in the US, the rest of the world measures temperature in Celsius.
Mah they could’ve substituted that raw fish with a candy or something
Whats 50 degrees Fahrenheit again?
There's really no reason she should have had to eat it if she had a hard time. They make prop food all the time that looks like something else.
Idk why they had to eat raw fish when food commercial are made with fake food
I've seen films being made in atlanta
What’s 50F in a temperature scale that makes sense?
Also filmed in Hawaii
