It's reassuring to know that everyone goes through this. I ended up having a fairly protracted course of studying due to general disillusionment about the healthcare system I was exposed to at the time. It took a bit more maturity and some fresh eyes for me to get back to it and I'm very glad I did. This is a lovely, warm perspective - as is the video background and your energy! Thanks!
Thank you so much for your content. I’m not a med student (yet), but I have been contemplating about so many of the details surrounding medical school, studying, living that type of life, etc. and it’s really great to have such simple and straightforward information from someone who’s willing to share. I also enjoy the variety of topics you cover. It would be so awesome to work with you in the field.
Alyssa-this video could not have come at a better time. I’m an OMS1 at a school in Chicago and lost my mom the day before finals started 2 months ago. I have been contemplating taking a leave of absence/stopping school (especially since the 2 exams a week have started again and aren’t really stopping), but these words were so comforting to hear in the middle of this struggle! Thank you for sharing your story and best of luck with the match.
I am deeply touched to hear that my video provided you with some comfort during such a challenging time. Losing a loved one is never easy, and facing the pressures of OMS1 simultaneously is incredibly tough. Please know that it's okay to take the time you need to heal and consider what's best for you. I'm here for you, and I'm sending you strength and support. 💜
I have just passed my 2nd year of med school in Pakistan. I want to prepare for usmle step 1. In the first 2 years, we study physio, anatomy and biochem. Now the subjects in 3rd year will be Pathology, pharma and forensics. Could you plz make a video on how to prepare along with it for Usmle from absolute scratch having nothing on the board?
Congrats on passing second year! Great idea. Until then, I basically only focused on doing as much UWorld as I could alongside my other coursework prior to Step 1. I tried to focus on doing questions by either the subject/system of whatever exam I had coming up next so that way at least some of the questions I was doing were relevant for my upcoming exam(s).
