Hi HED, I got to know the HEDge at the last pub session I played where a vegan lady played it. What a beautifully crafted instrument! It sounds quite different to my Coreline, but it has completely removed my doubts about synthetic heads on bodhrans.

Thanks so much for this explainer video! I've been looking into one of your synthetic head drums, as we travel all over the US (and hopefully more abroad soon) all year and play 95% percent of our shows outdoors. Seeing how the ChangeHed system works with the synthetic head and the ability to completely switch out the head and tuning rim for a natural skin system really helped me understand how it all works.

A clear line needs to be drawn between what is a traditional Irish bodhran and these new drums that are now being called in Ireland European head drums These are not Irish bodhrans and should not be sold as such and messing about with an Irish tradition.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.

@@hedwitschakdrums no idea who this man was or what it has to do with the Irish bodhran I am pointing out that this drum needs to be left in its traditional way and not messed about with and turned into something else an Irish bodhran is a wooden rim made with Irish native timber with or without tone rim and an animal skin nothing else like plastic drum heads and spicy dragon skins etc etc whatever that is. Such drums are European head drums and not to be mixed up with our traditional Irish bodhran and not be sold as such. Tradition is an important thing to an Irish man and messing about with someone's else's traditions is of great offence to some

@@JohnJamesMonaghan but if an Irish maker is using a synthetic head and sells it as bodhran, that’s ok? ☺️

It makes no difference who made the drum it's not a traditional Irish bodhran if it sports a synthetic skin and sounds different
