      Broke so many glasses. volleyball, dancing, soccer. These frames seem great! Bet I could still break them though. English riding, glasses fall off and horse steps on them, nothing is going to stop that. I switched to contacts for activities that may break my glasses. Like Kung Fu and paintball.

      My Eschenbach Titanflex frames broke after 13 years. I was gently cleaning the lenses and before I knew it, I'm holding half a frame in each hand. The fancy flexy metal bits were fine: it broke at a connection point near the bridge. I guess even titans have weak spots.

    I've been wearing memory metal glasses for about 25 years. They do pretty much what they are designed to do and that tis survive some accidental situations. It's not a good idea to go around bending them just to impress your friends or just for the hell of it. They will break eventually. I've had two pair break in the last two and a half decades. Nonetheless, I won't wear anything else now.

    I had Flexon frames for my computer glasses that I wore on a cord around my neck as they were bifocal for reading too. I had them for more than 10 years before I did break them. The nose bridge broke because I picked up something heavy and had it pressed against my body. Now I plan to have new flexon frames as soon as my eyes have adjusted to surgery and can get a new prescription. So happy you did a video on Flexon. I love your videos.

    Flexon frames are very nice, they’re one of the brands I keep coming back to. That said, I will note that the only pair of frames I have broken in the last 20 years were Flexons; I walked out of the optical, got in my car, took the newly-arrived-and-fitted frames off, bent them about 30 degrees and the bridge snapped. I put my year-old Chesterfields back in and went back into the office. They apologized profusely and replaced them, two weeks later I picked them up again-and seven years later I’m wearing them again, with the same old prescription, because the new glasses I have are great for driving… and lousy for focusing on the TV 12 feet away.

  • @impact1ome
    @impact1ome 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I shelled out nearly £200 for these thinking that they would last! Just under a year the bridge snapped... Contacted Flexon as they have two year warranty, which conveniently wasn't covered by it.

    Funny story.
    I work at a Pearle Vision in MN, and one day I was working with a patient and showing them our selection of glasses. I come up to the flexon’s, and I start to run my little spiel about how they “are unbelievably durable, and you can bend them any which way and they snap back into place.” Mid sentence I bent the frame and it snaps at the bridge. Most embarrassing moment of my life. Best part is the parents dad, at the time, bursted out laughing and my coworker, without turning around, said “no way you just snapped that frame”.

    I love flexon. I have been wearing them for years. Sadly the last time I got glasses, my shop only had two styles to choose from. They switched to Ovvo. This new frame is lightweight but do NOT fit snug like my flexons. They constantly fall off my nose. I need glasses and will look for a new optometrist and a shop that will let me get flexon again. Why flexon? I sat on glasses, I slept in glasses, rocked a rocking chair on glasses and needed something that would survive rough treatment. I also wanted glasses with a snug fit that I was confident would NOT fall off my face or constantly need to be adjusted. Memory metal is great stuff!! Thanks for the video and the link!

  • @MartinNeep

    What about making adjustments to the frame? How is that possible if the material can’t be reshaped?

    • @DoctorEyeHealth

      Great question! Surprisingly they can be adjusted, but it is best done by opticians using tools in the optical.

    • @xArchimonde96x
      @xArchimonde96x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Titanium itself doesn't but this is Most likely a Combination of roughly half Nickel and half Titanium, in theory this releases a very very very small ammount of nickel-ions because the Nickel is bound in a molekular Level. Thing is its very little but Not zero, ive Had customers with Nickel allergy who could wear Them and people who couldnt.

  • @JohnBarrow1961
    @JohnBarrow1961 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    My favorite technique over the years has been to sit on them. I've gotten pretty good at carefully bending them back so I can use them, but it is frustrating. These frames look interesting, but I'm always hesitant to buy glasses online. I have a progressive prescription and the glasses have to be made perfectly to avoid issues. My eyesight is bad enough without that. I can't stand places like Lenscrafters because they always have a crappy, limited selection of frames, but they are local and any issues can be promptly addressed. Their salespeople also know nothing about getting people into the best frames for their individual needs.
    I would love to hear of any alternative places to try. I'm getting my scrip checked next week and will probably be buying a new pair. I'm active and would love a pair better suited to that lifestyle. Thanks for all the videos.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely understand how you feel!!! Some eye clinics do have trained and experienced opticians but many places have high turnover in employees and sometimes it’s hard to find a place that doesn’t sell the same stuff. Flexon can be found online but mostly sold through in store Optical or glasses stores. I don’t think there would be any hurt feelings if you ask eye clinics who on their staff has the most experience or if they have any certifications as opticians. Perhaps they can help you better.

    • @DoctorEyeHealth
      @DoctorEyeHealth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are specific eye vitamins based on retinal studies on specific eye diseases. Such as macular degeneration and diabetes. Omega 3 also has some benefits to the retina. I personally advocate for heart healthy diet as number 1 but I do personally take eye vitamins and recommend them for some of my patients, but I think it’s best to always ask a local eye care professional so they can give personal guidance

      The flexon black line is more premium because of the designs but they have a classic line which is pretty affordable.

    Best place to get memory frames with scratch resistant lenses?
    Please and thank you!
    My dogs were the main culprits!
    They wear contacts now? Laugh!

      Haha. Memory frames can be found at eye clinics, try this search engine www.flexon.com/find-flexon.html. Or online through eyeconic

    They have a flexibility but be aware..they can brake.

    Some stupid mask, they made me wear in a store, caught my glasses and bent the hinge. I foolishly thought I could straighten it out. The frames might have been bendable titanium but the hinges are breakable.

    I have a six hundred dollar pair of Flexon 145 titanium glasses and i set down and snapped the arm off at the pivot. I think they are overrated.

    My flexon titanium unbreakable frames broke while hand cleaning after only one year. The only frames I've ever broken and while cleaning them? Seriously? Won't buy again. I don't recommend Flexon.

    This might be good for the people who doesn't have much money's they just need to change lense
    Lense is cheap

      Lenses are cheap? The last time I got new lenses they were almost $500 for the pair at Sam's Club. Don't skimp on frames or lenses. Get the absolute best you can afford. For me that's memory metal and top of the line Transitions and all the coatings.

      There is help for those kinds of feelings. I hope you seek that help and take on a new outlook on life. A talk with a general practitioner is a good first step.
