I encountered this catterpilar before he turns into that brownish with spots color last October 26,2020. Well during that time the Philippines, exactly here in Luzon was experiencing a bad weather condition, typhoons are coming, so my family and I decided to took care of him. Days passed and I witnessed that changes of becoming a pupa then turning into a beautiful moth.
He's different from what we usually see here, so we're just thinking maybe he'll become a big butterfly, then he's not. Hehehe.
When that day finally came we were able to let him free, we were surprised that instead of leaving he decided to come back that night. Lost his little legs and having a difficult time of flying eventually he did not make it.
It's disappointing and sad, but i am happy to share limited days of taking care of him. 😊

I'm so glad this was recommended to me. I love how you have captured their life cycle in their natural habitat. I'm taking care of 14 of them atm, I want both my vinca plants and these moth babies to survive lol. They are sooooo adorable with their fake eyes Haha. Looks like green Aliens tbh. Ten of them have turned to Pupa under soil and leaves. Hoping to release 14 healthy beautiful Oleander Hawk moths soon, ofc somewhere far from my yard. Haha 😅
Thanks again for making this great video of these beautiful Oleander Hawk Moths! 🌱🐛🐛🐛💚

I FINALLY KNOW WHERE THEY WENT!!! I used to find these caterpillars a lot in my front lawn and they're pretty cool as most of the other caterpillars i find have those hairs that make your skin red. Usually I keep my favorite ones in a separate tree so i can see them grow, etc. but when they get big enough, they usually disappear, like they vanished into this air. I looked everywhere for the pupas but never found any, now i know i should've looked ta the ground lmao

I'm really in love with caterpillars when I was just a kid, and I only took care of them, because some caterpillars have venoms that can make your skin get reddish and swelling. For me, they are the safest caterpillars to take care, because most of the caterpillars around have stings.

When I was a kindergarten I use to look for these caterpillars then make them my pet intill they become a moth at first I thought "those butterflies looks ugly, eh but I'll still make them my pet" then when they become a moth I just let'em go

If you feed it this bush called _Nero's crown_ , it will be fat and green all throughout its stage until it goes down the bush and turns black. No brown transition, just lime green to black. Also the pupa wont be translucent.
Those things ate our bushes, yet I never saw its adult counterpart that wasn't raised by me.
Precious babies better have something to cling on and some soil or else *it will have seizures!*

Back in Early 2020, I found a caterpillar and I named him Pilar, he was healthy until it was time to release him. Unfortunately, I never saw him again because of the annoying ants that are eating caterpillars. Earlier this year I found 3 caterpillars, a mom, a dad and a baby. The baby unfortunately died while the mother was hungry and the dad started to turn a dark color. I knew this was a bad sign so
I had to throw them out 😭😭😭
