    2:52 I get what he means here. No matter what in most open world games you will eventually hit an invisible wall or expanse that can not be crossed. The stretchs of land in fallout 4, the flat land beyond the badlands in cyberpunk. The seas and mountains in the witcher 3. All of these mark an end point to where you're allowed to go, and I think what he means by the first real open world, is that there is no end point. You can keep going around the entire planet in a straight line, and end up where you began. That's not something you can do in many games, and it just wouldn't be possible without procedural generation.

    • @froginaboxVEVO
      @froginaboxVEVO  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well _hopefully_ you'll be able to go around the planet in a straight line. Nothing is confirmed yet, but the insistence on calling the map a planet makes me thing it will be spherical.

    Thank you so much for this video! I am so hyped about the game and it was really nice to see you talk about what the game could be and your take on it. I really hope that when the next trailer comes out you will cover it as well, because I love the dynamic and voiceover of your video!

      And MW3 2023 still doesn't have the E3 fish AI. For this reason above all others, it is a bad game. smh Activision.

    It actually reminds me a lot of the sequel to Hyper Light Drifter, but i think they also made a game inbetween which was a massive progression in terms of game design from the previous game, so if it's using a similar engine to No Man's Sky, development should be a lot easier than the previous game.

    • @froginaboxVEVO
      @froginaboxVEVO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I remember being hyped for Hyper Light Breaker but completely forgot about it lol.
      I think that HG has demonstrated an improved approach to game design. NMS feels disjointed in some areas but more recent updates have all seemed to more fluidly connect with existing gameplay. If LNF manages this from the start, it'll be a more cohesive and complete experience.

      I like that take! (though I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not) What makes you think that?
      And to answer your question, it's a planet somewhere in the vicinity of betelgeuse.

      I wonder how they're going to do POIs. Obviously we have the big stone spheres, but those are probably story locations based on the logo concept art.

    I think that big octopus wrecked their ship. They are all swimming away from the wreckage. Maybe sailing can be dangerous, but it's the only way to move heavy cargo? I'm wondering why someone would chose to sail when they could fly

    • @confinedcabinet919
      @confinedcabinet919 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      well i’m assuming that if it is heavy cargo, it would be incredibly difficult to fly with a ton of heavy stuff, right?

    I'm hoping for more challenge. In 100 hours on hardest difficulty permadeath save in No Man Sky I basically have "finished" game with maxed out gear and no real challenge or threats that makes it kind of boring.

      Action will be their biggest weakness. They need Fromsoft to send a few consultants.

    • @froginaboxVEVO
      @froginaboxVEVO  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I don't thing they're going to aim for Fromsoft-level combat, but they could definitely learn a thing or two. Even something as simple as a dodge roll could make combat way more fluid and challenging, instead of the clumsy 'slowly walk around and shoot spongey enemies' NMS has. In general, gameplay just needs to feel more active if it's going to improve on the feel compared to NMS.

    This video is beautiful to watch and true open world, I think he means no invisible boundary, like Zero Dawn Forbidden West - insanely huge but at one point your warned it will reset ornif your flying will turn you around, as with this game being a planet there will be no barrier :)
    I can definitely see similarities, the way the grass moves when running through , the water, even the way they hop on the dragons is the same movement you hop in your ship in NMS, (they might add slight differences like harder to take off in high winds/on top of mountains, speed resistant depending on altitude or dragon size or have different dragons take off differently like taking a run 1st etc).
    Very much looking forward to it, I know a heap of in game effects were put into the last NMS update like the water effects etc. But if you've never played NMS this game would be beautiful.

    I'm going to be real with you, I do not like this video. I think it is low-effort, failed to contribute anything of value, and I feel like I did it just because I pressured myself into just getting "content" out while it was relevant. I do TH-cam as a hobby in what little free time I have. I want to make the most of that time, and produce videos I'm genuinely proud of. I don't want to fall into making the very content I find unbecoming on this site.
    I'm going to make sure the next video is up to my standards, even if it takes a little while.

      just remember that quality>quantity. most people dont have the attention span to watch a 40 minute video + you feel its low effort. making a 20 minute high quality video > 40 minute low quality video. it was still a good video and a great job from you but thats my opinion

      Yeah, you're 100% right. I'm really excited to see how sailing and water physics work together in LNF, since in NMS water is just a flat layer with the new tech as visuals only.

    when the game realizes i want to make a town somewhere and make a inn/restaurant/bar/shop in the town called "the Stuttering Froge (or Badger, or whatever race i chose to play as, or something else kinda witty, i stutter so if there will be voice chat the place's name should be a fair warning lol)

    We will see how Wayward Realms turns out. From the devs of Daggerfall !. But this sounds like alot of fun as well !.
    LNF better have millions of weapons !. It will probably kill GW2 for sure !.

    Ok, who wants to bet does bunnies will end up being some bloodthirsty maniacs in the lore? I am just speculating this based on what I know about Gek in NMS. But ok, on a more serious note, pulling off one big planet is a huge milestone. Just think of day and night cycles, those need to match across the entire planet, I have no idea how they pulled that off. So I have no doubt in my mind Sean really means it when he says this project is more ambitious than NMS. Just this one feature alone is actually really hard to pull off in network game.
    Other thing I am curious about is, like you mentioned fast travel, now it would definitely kill the experience, but then what happens when players want to share their builds and whatnot? I don't expect LNF to have stargate portals or anything like that, but there will probably be some way to fast travel across regions. Imagine you play with a friend and he invites you to check out their base and you're like, sure thing bro, be there in like four weeks if I catch the ferry on time. In one hand that'd be awesome, but on the other... it would kill the community.
    Also, one thing I didn't see anybody mention when going through this trailer is multiple players building houses, so we might actually get settlements that grow over time, this is something people have been trying to do in NMS as well with base merging and whatnot. So this might actually be something really cool.

    • @confinedcabinet919
      @confinedcabinet919 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i agree with you on the whole no fast travel kind of thing, but i’m assuming there’s some high speed mounts such as dragons and whatnot, and ships might be an option

    Page says *Single-player/online* *Co-op?* sounds like a procedurally created world (kind of a Minecraft/Valheim)
    The video does say a Procedural Earth.
    hope it has Procedural dungeons.
    LOL and this video is the first I've heard of the game thanx.
    Edit: It definitely looks like an upgraded NMS engine.
