Opening date: May 7, 1994
Cost: $11,500,000 - $12,000,000
Type: Steel -- Inverted
Manufacturer: Bolliger & Mabillard
Designer: Werner Stengel
Model: Inverted Coaster
Lift/launch system: Chain lift hill
Height: 137 ft (42 m)
Drop: 119 ft (36 m)
Length: 3,790 ft (1,160 m)
Speed: 57 mph (92 km/h)
Inversions: 6
Duration: 2:16
Max vertical angle: 45°
Capacity: 1,800 riders per hour
Height restriction: 54 in (137 cm)
Trains: 3 trains with 8 cars. Riders are arranged 4 across in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train.
The ride begins with a left-hand turn out of the station to the lift hill that ascends 137 feet (42 m). Riders are pulled up by a 9,000 pound chain lift. At the top, the train dips slightly into the pre-drop before turning 90 degrees to the left as it drops 119 feet (36 m) down the first hill. From the bottom the train immediately enters a 100 feet (30 m) vertical loop. The train then enters a zero-g roll followed by the cobra roll which inverts riders twice. The cobra roll was a first for inverted roller coasters. After the cobra roll, the train climbs through an upward spiral and enters the mid-course brake run. Next the train dives down to the right transitioning into a brief straight section of track. Riders then enter the first of two corkscrews which rotates the train 360 degrees to the left. The track straightens briefly again before turning to the right and entering a short dip before taking riders into the second corkscrew. The ride finishes with a 1.5 revolution flat helix where riders encounter strong positive G-forces before making one last left turn into the final brake run. One cycle of the ride lasts about 2 minutes and 16 seconds.

Ya gotta love how no one can resist kicking their feet as the ride is going up that hill.
I LOVE the b&m roar!!!
TPayne 1O1 Same
Same
Great footage. I'm from Holland and I've been to America just for all the rollercoasters. I loved Cedar Point.
The B&Ms from the 1990s are so loud, but I love it~
Me to man
You did an excellent job showing the beauty of this classic! Raptor will be 20 this year!
Then I guess now it's 21!!!!
Raptor is my 1st favorite inverted coaster ever

Dude, I love your offride footage. Believe it or not I actually had a hard time finding good offride footage in hd of cedar points coasters, especially raptor. Do you still have more footage from CP?
I love loud rides
Then u will love kumba
yugioh guy And Great Bear.
Raptor: Taking "OH SH*T OLLIE WHERE'S YOUR PHONE?" to the next level.

I can't wait to go on this ride next time I go to Cedar Point! I am going to take my camera and make a POV of it! I will edit this comment and put the link to the video!
It will be a fail and you be kicked out due to filming
your offride footages are great i dont get how you catch the ride from above but i love this video
Kenda Drane Sky Ride
It looks like some of this footage was taken while standing in the ride's restricted area. Wow!
I wanted to like the video, but I couldn't bring myself to take it off fullscreen in order to do so. I eventually got over it. XD
How long were you at Cedar Point to get all of this footage?
The supports don't create the roar like everyone seems to believe. Its actually the box-shaped part the track is attached to. Its hollow and is a patented design B&M specifically made for that sound. And you can't hear it in videos for Gatekeeper, but when you're riding it or next to it you'll here it loud and clear
+deathgamer94 The hollow box-shaped track spine creates the roar, but not only. Wheel materials also help. Old B&M's use nylon, which create the loud roar, amplified by the hollow box-shaped spine. Now, B&M's use mostly polyurethane, which is more quiet (that's why GateKeeper is not as loud as Raptor).
On my "local" B&M (OzIris at Parc Astérix, France), wheels are polyurethane, and the ride is quiet, but during cold wheather, they put some nylon wheels (because nylon has less frictions and heat loss than polyurethane), and the famous B&M roar occurs.
+Deanrell I wouldn't say all new B&M's don't have the B&M roar, as diamondback has a roar.
+yugioh guy Of course, not ALL new B&M's don't roar, but newer B&M's use polyurethane wheels more often than nylon.
I hope valravn has a roar
***** Valravn's track will be hollow!
7:15 gosh that wip!!
Cool 😎😎😎
Is it me, or does this ride (off ride) sound like creepy ass hurricane winds when in motion?!...Freaky. Watch this video again, only this time close your eyes and just listen...You're bound to hear it loud and clear.
Sunsetter678 Yeah Raptor is known for its really loud B&M roar when it's going around the track.
I agree because joker's jinx at SFA sounds just like this ride and I use to live right next to the park. And when we first moved in we could here the joker and my mom would always think it was a storm coming until the neighbors told us about it.
to me not to much
That is a loud roar right there. What did B&M do to this inverted coaster?
***** I actually think it sounds cool! :)
*****
Sand ruins it!!!!
If Gatekeeper didn't have the sand, it would definitely be an attention giver at the gate.
***** It does.
***** Same. I love that sound. Every time that I go I stop and just listen to it
I have seriously weird question: If a woman was on that ride and her period starts, would her blood drip out of the ride and shower down or will it just stay on her napkin. I'm just curious.
What the fuck
Why the fuck would you ask that?
Hey just on the news today they mentioned a guy got hit by this ride and died when he was climbing the fence into the restricted part and got hit by it.
The best inversion on these sort of ride has to be the batwing it's savage and fast e.g montu
I need some advice on this ride, I've been to cedar point twice this year & I always tell myself I'll ride it but when I look at it, it seems terrifying. Is it scary at all ?
don't worry. It's a fun ride, and relatively tame. Trust me, you'll enjoy it
By the way, what day did you go? The park looks so empty!
Hey crutchfield, whats your all time favorite roller coaster?
Does ridding huge giga/strata coasters make smaller coasters, like this one, less thrilling/fun?
No not at all!
***** awesome username
Zombie Hunter310 Thank you!
***** yup :)
actually the smaller ones are more intense. mavrick is one of the smallest rides in the park, but its certainly not a beginner ride. while Magnum and Millennium Force aren't as intense. Infact magnum was my first bigger ride.
I wish raptor from cedar point was in dorney park
I was watching this alone on my TV...
Then my dog started howling.
I like riding this
I need to ride a invert. To Busch gardens tampa
Raptor could easily win top ride
*i love that roar, but this is really loud*
like if you think roller coasters are satisfying sometimes.
Yeah that drop, looks like a big nope for me 😞
