- Amazing Grace was written by a former slave trader John Newton..
Once sailing a ship full of slaves from Africa his ship was hit by a fierce storm... Newton feared for his life and got down on his knees and begged the good Lord to spare his life..He promised the Lord that if he would only spare his life he would change his ways a stop trading slaves..
The storm calmed down and Newton wrote the song Amazing Grace, full of sorrow and love and hope that he would be forgiving of his sins.
One of the most powerful songs ever written and this is one of the most beautiful versions ever recorded.

I've been been sober by the grace of God for 24 years now, and when my first sponsor passed away some time ago, this song was played at the funeral. I have MS and aplastic anemia, and my health is somewhat on the edge sometimes, but my faith has never been stronger. 🙂😇
I feel the same. I'm older, so-so health, tired and weary, have lost two of my three sons but my faith is stronger than ever and grows stronger by the day, though I still do have my battles to fight. I have found that when I take one small step toward God, he takes 10 big steps to meet me. Life isn't worth living on your own. Stay strong in your heart, keeping the faith.

Ive just started my tenth grade in 2024 and the start of the year was the first time I truly understood life. It was scary, but God helped me face whatever I kept buried inside. I just stayed for four months in several hospitals, life-threatening diseases (no cancer) and in the darkest moment Jesus Christ appeared to me and I promised him, to be a witness of his glory. At the 3rd of May this year I finally came home. And he saved me and my soul at the age of 72 (!)...

I am a parishioners of Howells church and every Sunday, you will find me at the alter praying and weeping. Why? Because I am so sorry for all that I have done,but also great ful for what he has given me. Forgiveness and mercy. Praise the lord Jesus Christ. 😢

I was lost but I am found. Just turned 72, when I was 16 I thought I would not reach 30. On the way to the age 72 I found that God had never left me, he was always on my shoulders the whole time. God bless you! Just some advice that I hope you'll hold onto; Live by faith your ENTIRE life, and don't let worldly people or things (especially music) influence you. Fill your mind with the things of God, like His Word and good music instead. *ESPECIALLY* when you get into middle and high school. I became influenced by things of the world in middle/high school and now that I want to live for the Lord again, I'm paying the price for filling my mind with junk and messing with drugs. Stay far away from that stuff and don't let yourself be pressured by peers and popular culture. Try to live in the Spirit rather than the Flesh. Set the example for others.

My mother was like your mom. She walked the talk and she was a quiet, shy person. She passed away 2 days after her 80th birthday in 2014. My husband, who was a man after God's own heart, passed away Christmas morning in 2020 of Congestive Heart Failure. When he passed, I couldn't help thinking that my mom would have been the 1st one I would have called.
At my husband's memorial service, Amazing Grace was the last song played, and the verses were included on the back of the program. He knew he'd been saved by God's grace, and he wanted people to leave his service knowing that the gift of Amazing Grace could be anyone's. I was blessed to have had both of them in my life, and I miss them terribly.
God bless you. My husband has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and I also had a mother that was strong in her beliefs. I thank God for her as she gave me the base of my beliefs and I am stronger for it!

"the hour I first believed". The line chokes me up every time I hear it. I was an atheist my entire life until about 3 years ago at the age of 31. I was at such a dark place and had given up hope of ever being at peace. I broke down, dropped to my knees and said "if there is a God in heaven, please save me. I can't go on." And I just FELT something. Like the hug of an angel and a calming feeling I had never felt. I can't explain it, but I know it was the holy spirit. My outlook on life was forever changed in that moment, I no longer suffer from depression or anxiety. I truly believe that the evil one had a hold on me and by calling on God's grace, that evil presence fled. I pray every day to thank the good Lord for his grace and salvation. And I never forget to tell the evil one that I wear the full armor of God and he is no longer welcome in my presence. If you had told me 5 years ago I'd become a believer I would have said you're crazy, but the most amazing part is this: my husband, who was never a believer, also came to know God around the same time. We didn't speak about it for months but had both been praying for one another's salvation. God saved our lives, our marriage, and our souls. When you are in a desperate state and feel there is no hope, just know He is there. Call on Him, pray to Him, and pray against the evil one to flee your presence. Grace can teach your soul to heal.

I've been a Christian for many years and though I've strayed from the path many times, God has always been there when I get back on it waiting patiently for me. From everything going on in the world today my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ 🙏 is what keeps me from overwhelming fear as to what's going to happen next in our country and in our world because I've read His book and I know how it ends ❤. That is where those of us who are Christians receive the peace that passes all understanding just as our Lord promised 🙏

My cousin who sings beautufully brought a church Hymnal out a few days before he passed at home and sung to him from it. One of the best versions I ever heard was from the bagpipers at the New York Fire Department, in memorial for their colleagues and the other victims who died on that fateful day in the early autumn of 2001.
It was so poignant. It brought a tear to my eyes. I had just finished work and got off half an hour early. I got back home and switched on the television when this newsflash came on, showing one of the towers on fire after it had been hit.
A short while later, maybe 45 minutes, the second got hit ... instinctively, everyone knew that it couldn’t possibly be an accident ... the odds against it were astronomical.
A short while later one of the towers fell; strangely enough, I believe it was the one that was hit last. And then of course the other one fell. Almost the whole world saw it unfolding right in their own living rooms. Those of us who did see it will never forget it ... we couldn’t!
And so this song reminds me of the courage of the Fire Department, and of the other emergency services. that day. Whatever your views are on this controversial topic, which is still raw, even after so much time has passed, I salute their courage. We all should. They probably saved a lot of lives that day, even though so many others were so needlessly and tragically lost.

My precious mother.... her name is Grace! I say is because although she has passed from this life as we know it, in 2013. She still lives on in the presence of Christ Jesus her Lord and Savior! Then she still has no less days to sing God's praise than when she first began! Still to this day: The most precious moment other than my being born again in Christ was that moment in hospice that God gave me the gift to speak Psalm 23 over my mother as she took her final breath and was ushered into the presence of Christ !

The most beautiful version I ever heard was from the wonderful shattered young people who sang at my youngest daughter's funeral (Alana..age 17)..they were the highschool choir she was in. They were so brave and despite their grief and shock sang their hearts out. Blessings and gratitude to them..Placer High School, Auburn, CA 2003 from Alana's Mom.
Beautiful, beautiful song. Wanted it at my bff of 33 years funeral March 2020 but she died literally the day MA went into lockdown. Her mom, dad, 10 year old son and a priest. Not her brother, not her older 2 kids, no other family, ni friends. No closure and she deserves so much more. From the day we met at 10 years old she wanted a party when she died. We could cry a little but then have fun. I am still going to do that for her this summer. I've been to the cemetery and she has a nice spot and a beautiful headstone. I am so very, very, truly sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. You and your precious child are in my prayers. So sorry 💔❤️🙏
