This is the funniest Contrarians show I've ever watched next to the GNR one. Jamie, your Huey Lewis and The News comparison to Hootie & The Blowfish was spot on. Had me nearly falling out of my chair. Both boring dad bands ten years apart. The John Mellencamp one was pretty funny. And the Duran Duran covers were pretty funny too. Their debut album cover made think they were auto show models for futuristic cars. Or look, I could be in a James Bond film. The irony being they did that James Bond song A View to a Kill. Oh, my only guess for the Poison is album cover is glamour shots gone wrong. Look at us, we're one big hot mess like our music. Anyway, good show and funny as hell 😂😂Going to watch for a second time!
B-52s were saying “Look at what we found at the Salvation Army thrift shop.” Talking Heads, on the back cover of Little Creatures were saying, “Oh yeah? Look at what we found at the thrift shop!”
The debut Ramones album is the most iconic "band on the cover". Pearl Jam's Ten album is iconic. Not only are they high-fiving each other (which is different) but to see the complete picture you have to buy the CD & open the folded cover into a full poster to see it.
I know this is stretching the theme, but the back cover and sleeve of Queensryche's "Rage for Order". It has them as Cyber, Goth- Aristocrats, ruling over a world of Rococo, Leather and Velvet. I have always loved this look and album.
Lone Justice 1st album, we’re here to give you some new cow punk. ELO On the Third Day, pointing at there bellybuttons, just having fun. BOC on Mirrors back cover with strobe lights. So many more!
Union Jacks- The Babys looking like tough guys dressed in leather jackets looking to kick ass The Doors- S/ T. Jim looking down on his bandmates thinking you guys are nothing without me Rocket to Russia- Ramones just plain local guys playing no frills rock
I've read that Poison saw how everyone was doing the make-up thing so they decided to do it to the extreme. They knew exactly what they were doing. I actually love the album, but the cover is just funny to me. That Saints cover is one of the toughest album covers ever. Also, if you're going with the Village People, what about "Renaissance" where they went new romantic?!?
Satyricon - Rebel Extravaganza.... Not only reflects the harsh , misanthropic attitudes of the songs but most interestingly the industrial or urban setting on the cover while most Norwegian bands of that time and Ilk were pushing forests and other such Scandinavian scenery as part of their pysche .... Boy does THIS comment sound pretentious 😝
Don't compare Huey lewis with Hootie & the Blowfish ! That really hurts my feelings, Huey Lewis is great fun music, while Hootie is extremely boring and dull. But great episode.
@@jaapstolze2020 So then, you like Huey Lewis and The News. Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.

thank you 🙏
Love that Trouble album. Seen them play around Chicago so many times. RIP Barry Stern and Eric Wagner
Big Audio Dynamite - One of my favorite band names ever! Love the band, too.
You didn't disappoint, Martin... I was waiting for Manowar

Grant just cracked me up.
Red Rockers - Schizophrenic Circus. “ Oh, God, please, kill us.”
Black Sabbath Sabotage says we do a lot of drugs.
or somethin'

Grand funk railroad, Born to Die

Radio Birdman! Great band to this day. LONC Method To Our Madness. Ramones Too Tough To Die.

I did say I only meant their image...not the music.
@@Jamie.Laszlo You are right, my judgement was too quick ! Maybe because I love Huey Lewis so much 😃
