Specs for the tent and pads has been added to the description. We will be out backpacking with MSR and Thermarest in early September to test this gear out! Stay tuned for much more, detailed coverage from the mountains of Colorado :)
Why decrease the amount of mesh? That helps with air curculation and reduces condensation. Will price be reduced since mesh is more expensive and that mesh footprint has been reduced?
Pros & Cons. More mesh may be nicer in hot weather but it will feel colder on colder nights especially when it's breezy. Also, I've camped in Death Valley NP with a tent that had a more solid inner and really appreciated having it. It was windy and the fine desert sand gets into EVERYTHING. Less mesh gives you more protection from that fine sand getting blown into your tent and getting into your sleeping gear, etc.
Is it possible now to mount the outer skin without the inner tent and without the footprint, just using the poles?
I do welcome the improvements as the tent was no longer competitive, but my main question is whether they have moved to polyester for the fly fabric. The fabric is "more technical". lol. I also wonder whether the rain gutter works any better. I think there were many users that do not like the current rain gutter.
Awesome upgrade from MSR. 3lbs for a 2 person tent is great, especially a free standing style tent. For everyone saying it's too heavy, get a tarp and your trekking pole and have fun with your single wall bug infested nights.
Yes! Thank you for a voice of reason in all these wonky comments! I agree, this is a heck of tent for the weight. I am actually going on a backpacking trip this weekend with MSR (and Gregory backpacks, Royal Robbins, Platypus, Thermarest and a whiskey company) to test this very tent out. So, I will be happy to report back on how it works out. Thanks for the nice note. Take care!
Any word on upgrades to the Remote and Access series tents? Im always above treeline and was looking at the Remote but noticed its discontinued. Sad to see. Was hoping maybe you have heard something at this expo.
I can ask them about those. I did not hear anything regarding updating those. I have one of each of those tents and love them.
@@Engearment thank you so much. Your video is what got me interested in the Remote. As well as a bunch if other gear. Great channel.
hey. Is it finally possible to connect the outer tent with the footprint at the corners?
Hello, and thanks for those well explanations 😀… I have a question… I’m from BELGIUM in Europe… I would like to know if I can order this inflatable mattress now… I don’t find it yet … I know this is a 2025 new model … there are two sizes…? what is the exact reference - name of this mattress? Thanks again for your help very much …
Hi could you tell me please would the msr gear shed fit the hubba hubba lt 2 and are the same colours still going to be available in the new tents thanks
Is the fly-first pitch possible on the new Hubba? That’s was a dealbreaker for me. Sold mine for that reason.
Definitely liking the high edge on the thermarest mattress, I usually roll off mine
Designs incrementally approaching the Sea to Summit equivalents. Competition is GOOD.
🙌
I’d love to see a nx with the same pole set up as the elixir, carbon poles, nx fabrics, surely a sub kilo tent ? I’ve switched from a nx to the elixir 1, but I’d be tempted to go back ! Think MSR is missing a trick !
Cool tent. I was considering the NX2, to use for one person, but now I want to see if the space for the LT1 also increased, I may buy Hubba Hubba LT1 if it has bigger size than the NX1.
32” x 88” for the the one person
WIth all those new features, did I hear you say the fly fabric is Poly mix or still ripstop nylon? It will make a huge factor whether I purchase another MSR tent again. Thank :) . Love the upgrades, but sil-poly is what I'm looking for next year in a new tent :)
Great question! Let me see if I can get that info for you and the audience. It was such a back to back last few days meeting with all the brands at OMA that I did not take as good of notes as I hoped. It sure was a fun time though!
@@Engearment that’s awesome! Glad you had fun. Thanks for the info, and in advance for letting us know 😊
Nemo Osmo Dagger 2P gets some competition finally. 👍
@@bradl2636that’s what I’m hoping, but I’ll never buy another Nemo tent for me personally. That’s why I’m hopping this fly is Sil-poly. Nemo are good tents, but the ventilation isn’t that great to me
@@jamicrawford6729 My only complaint is the price. Otherwise the Dagger ticks all the boxes for me it works as an all season tent in my part of the world.
I like the looks of that tent. The weight isn’t a big deal for me. The pad looks great as well.
I may have missed it but when is the release date?
Hey! Early 2025 release date. Feb probably. I will update as soon as we get more dialed in info. I am camping with MSR and Thermarest next month (likely testing this gear) and will have a follow up video on that!
Will the hubba LT be US only? Looking to buy in Europe
Defiantly a contender for my next tent...great job! The color will be the deciding factor.
If we could only have a stealth-camping option.... Green-ish, CB-ish...
Good feedback, I can get this to them.
I can not wait to test this out on the trail with them next month. I will keep everyone posted on how that goes!
Why did you decrease the mesh and make the fabric go up highet on it?
I would imagine for protection from rain (and possibly snow) from bouncing into the tent. We get crazy microburst storms here in Colorado, and I appreciate it when ten bases go higher up. Just my 2 cents.
@Engearment OK so this is a 4 season tent, I assumed (I know, I know) it was a 3 season tent.
@@adventureswithken1983 Great question! I would consider this a three-season tent, but I have used three-season tents in snow. It's not always a good idea, especially with lots of snow and colder temperatures, but it's doable. I really like the MSR Remote for true 4 season camping. Here is our review - th-cam.com/video/DGWnJaJcj9w/w-d-xo.html
My BIL bought a $450 Hubba Hubba 2. I bought the NatureHike knockoff for $130. Virtually identical. His stitching is tearing just from the dog brushing up again the zipper with his side. Mine has no issues. The weight difference is negligible if you're fit. He's ready to trash his. I'm not. Just something to consider.
That is a good insight. Also worth noting is that many MSR products are made in the USA, in Washington state. So, there is the element of supporting the local (if you are in the US, of course) economy. Something to consider as well. Thank you for the helpful feedback, too!
Why is the mesh height increased, this seems worse. If they want to offer a separate solid inner that makes sense.
Is this tent seam sealed at least? One of the Hubbas biggest issues was it was never sealed therefore not really “waterproof”
@@warrenwieske thats not true if you say "never". Hubba nx was seasealed around 2016/2017 or maybe later too. They changed that later as the tried to switch to carbon poles. My for example is factory seamsealed.
@@holgerhestermann9926 thank you for the clarification. I stand corrected. Glad to hear they fixed a major problem that really should not have been an issue at all with such a reputable brand. 🙏🏼
I have a few sleeping bags with arm holes and centre zip and it's an absolute killer feature set! More companies should make sleeping bags with arm holes or even sleeves.
Glad to hear you have been liking the feature!
Finally, MSR/Cascade implemented features, which the competition has since years😋. Connection points at the tent: STS Alto/Telos, pull loops: almost every other brand, bigger side baffles: big agnes/ exped. But better late than never😀. Now please improve the pumpbags for the pads and bring back the individual tent footprints instead the one size fits all ones which cannot be connected to the pole ends anymore.
Any mention of weight on the new Hubbas?
Yep! Just got all the specs from MSR a minute ago. I have all the weights in the description now!
So they made it cheaper by putting more fabric and less mesh
Thanks for this - Ive been keen to see what new tents are coming out, I may have missed it, but did he provide the weight of the tent? Also has their been a change in the pole construction? MSR makes great tents, but lots of stories of the carbon poles splintering which has kept me away. Also keen to see what NEMO and Big Agnes are doing to update their lines...
Good call! I do not recall the weight of any of the three tents in the line up. I can get with Matt and put that in the notes. I will also ask about the poles and if there are updates. I will see them again in the morning and keep you posted.
FWIW - I have three MSR tents with carbon poles that have been put through the wringer and have had years of use and abuse. Still going strong!
@@Engearment Thanks so much - and very fair; although there were multiple accounts of them splintering. Looking forward to finding out more about the Hubba LT series!
I’m up in Canada and heard a lot about the polls breaking as well… I went with the Nemo dagger instead because of that very issue. Hopefully it is fixed. MSR is a great company and it’s great to see them again. I also love the fact there’s new colours and not just red!
Matt here. Sorry I missed weights in the video. I added the floor dimensions as well. Here you go.
1 person= 2Lbs 6ozs 32”x88”
2 person = 3lbs 52” x 88”
3 person 4lbs 6oz 75” x90”
@@scetispoles have changed to DAC poles
10:18 The tent door design still let's too much water drip into the tent. The old design was much better. You are not listening to the customers. Seriously, who can't reach out to the front edge to reach the zipper? I've never met that person in real life.
They know exactly who their customers are. Weekend warriors in fair weather.
What’s the name of the sleeping pad
Boost Sleeping Bag
NeoLoft
Please get a health check; you should not be out of breath with such a presentation.
Thanks for a great introduction to the new kit.
Clicked for the tent, ended up wanting everything in the video. This is no good 🙂
They really nailed it with this release. I feel you on wanting all of it! LOL. I am going backpacking with them in September and will be using most of this gear. I will create detailed videos on the gear as well.
What? An MSR tent in an inconspicuous color? I'll buy that.
Right? It is nice and mild in color. I do appreciate the bright orange in winter camping. But for the other 75% of the time, this is a nice color.
Nobody has ever worked harder to show a tent
Right! Matt (the one showing the gear) and I were both in a good sweat after this demo. Matt is SO GOOD at this, and it shows. Thanks for the note!
Did a woke PNW company employee just say Indian Style? FOR SHAME!
