I remember seeing these Orion V CNGs on the Q38 when i was 3 in 2009
@@javie2064 same here.
DAMN THAT ENGINE WAS THE SHIT
In my opinion NFI Should Re launch the Orion 5 diesels and Orion 5 CNGs since they own OBI
I agree
I remember when I was younger living in Inwood, I would see the Orion v on the M100, and I know I wasn't losing my mind when I remembered that some orion had those chrome rims
even though I never rode the Orion 5 from 94-96 I will still never forget them. R.I.P Orion 5
These were awesome
Yup
That Orion 05.501 when it starts the engine, it sounds the same as the Novabus RTS from 1996-1999.
In my opinion about Flxible, If NYCT would've got approved for Flxible and were survived in business after 1995, then they probably would have the same awkward feature as Chicago CTA, such as Front Door.
The Orion 5s actually retired the year before the 2011-13 New Flyer C40LFs arrived, and the c40lfs had the same bus numbers, except for 185-399. But, I personally like the 1994-96 Orion Vs, it was a huge improvement than the 1993 Orion Vs
Jackie Gleason in The Honeymooners
I remember when I rode the bus for the first time. It was them Long Island Buses and the sound of those buses have stuck to me ever since then. Hell, if you could give me a sound of them driving off to their destination, I would tell you it's one of them out of the blue.
3:31 Orion V Diesel (666)
Goodnight That was a awesome Orion V Diesel and CNG Bus Review Bro. And Also Bro. Johnson .Did you know that some of 600's Orion V Diesel had coach seats. As they were Ex Express Bus!!!
these are my favorite buses
Awesome video, bro. I remember Pierce Transit in Tacoma, Washington had the 40' 1994 CNG Orions, and Whatcom Transit in Bellingham, Washington had the 35' and 40' diesels. Ironically though, they had the same serial numbers: 800.
Thanks man and I've seen photos of those but I've never been out there
that Cummins sounds great. The Neoplan from LA have the l10g engine
The bus seen at 0:38 was one time covering for the S40 as a Snow Loan
I remember that
@@kalelc1996 What's he talking about? JG sent a 1995 Orion V CNG to Castleton?!?
@@dodge1515 i honestly don't remember what year but i remember hearing something about that
I miss the Orion v cng and diesel I will miss them all
I'm also sad about the fact that flexible got shut down :(
Yea me too, I wish they could make & comeback
Watch the 1979-80' flixible review
Man i remember the last days of when the CNGs were retiring but i mostly seen them from SC Depot, but the units they had had one of the loudest ringers the ops played no games when it came to driving them, the B103 is close to me and I always seen that route haul with them, good times.
those were the 1998-99 units. SC never had 1995 CNGs,
@@dodge1515 Actually SC did have the older model Orion V's, the video says 1994-1996.
@@transportationnetwork1324 Yeah, a few 1995 diesels.
Reminds me of the old New York days
too bad orion went out of business. I miss these buses
yea but if you think about it, their last 2 buses were crap anyway
+Kal-El Johnson true. third gens are a piece of shit. especially the engine
& the NGs are no better
+Kal-El Johnson yes sir
what happened to the command rts and why did they not preserve 317. oh by the way great video
Can you do a review on the cng rts
That one at 0:24 sounds like a c40
I remeber them forever has my favorite bus I ever wrote one this bus but I agree they should preserve 317 but oh well
631-680 was delivered to Yukon depot
did the new flyers c40LF replaced the orions? I see the fleet numbers ranging from 200-600
Yes, half of the CNG powered Orion Vs were killed off by the C40LFs. The other half were mostly killed off by the Orion VII NG CNGs, Orion VII 3G CNGs, New Flyer XN40s, and New Flyer XN60s @ NICE/ MTA L I Bus.
Alcoa rims why weren't they kept
yeah
I think I know why they change the Orion v fleet numbers, maybe they changed to 1305,1306, because, maybe the c40lf took there current fleet numbers.
i remember the orion v cng cummins L10G
I remember seeing them in Brooklyn
something the 98-00 c40lf
What number is the bus thats in the dark, you cant see the number at 0:26?
540
540 on the B61?
+Kody Jackson q44
Thats werid, i dont see it.
Kody Jackson that's because it dark lol
9:01 what buses took 1305 and 1306’s original numbers?
C40LFs
@@kalelc1996 I figured
in the series 50 the transmission was a ZF?
transitfankid no Allison B400R
oh B400r. the orion 7s with the gold led destination signs have the ZF6HP
TransitFanKid actually the NYCTA Orion V CNGs originally had Cummins L10Gs and ZFs
Do you have the long island buses?
Lol at 6:02 though
wait what happened to command bus RTS cng 4904?
Long story short, it wont work nobody knows how to fix it and its too costly on a old expired tank/frame
Yea but it just sits there
Scraped now
Were the Orion 5 CNG’s repainted into the white back scheme like the diesel Orion 5s
Not that I remember
@@kalelc1996 okay
BTW were any other buses delivered with the black back scheme?
@@dannylok2812 after the old gens, no
@@kalelc1996 okay
Queens Village Depot they have Orion V
Briefly but the were never delivered there
It was temporary from 2002-2004/5
@@56CharlesTadareChannel. around that time
@@kalelc1996 yes
8:27 why didn’t they preserve 317?
It's very risky to preserve a CNG powered bus because the CNG tanks after they expire it's very hazardous and considering the situation they're currently having with the CNG powered RTS 4904 I guess they decided not to take that risk again
@@kalelc1996 what does hazardous mean?
@@dannylok2812 dangerous
@@kalelc1996 oh I see. Well they should’ve removed the CNG tank instead
@@dannylok2812 yes they could have but that's not an easy flight and at the same time you would ruin the value of it completely
