Hello! Sorry I just found your 'mention' after three months - apologies! Great to hear your view on A Song for Ella Grey!
Thank you for the recommendation! It was fun to have a different take on a re-telling
So interesting, I read a differs Holmes inspired book this week, it also had some minor weirdness with Romani people, but I think mostly passable and very briefly corrected the misconceptions/terminology at least but didn't really draw aftention to it.
I love a good Holmes inspired book! Or the real thing as well 😊It is interesting to see how different authors handle trying to stay true to the time and style but also not falling into the same racist stereotypes.
Interesting thoughts about Mrs. Everything. Honestly, it's not my favorite of her books (but better than some of her more recent books). She actually wrote that book as a tribute to her own mother. If you are up to giving Weiner another try, I would recommend one of her earlier books. I think she's going through a bit of an identity crisis with some of her more recent books. I think my favorite of hers is In Her Shoes, but it has been quite a while since my last read of it, so I'm not sure how it holds up.
Perfect! I will have to pick up Her Shoes. I enjoyed her writing enough I would love to give her another try. Thank you for the recommendation!
