Idk if someone already said this but I heard another thing about this music video. What I heard was about the main guy they show lost his ability to dance. The scene where someone is rebuilding a foot, it is meant for the main character so he could dance a little longer. Also the scene shown where there is red painting on his feet are suppose to show his injury. Because he lost the ability to dance, hes been depressed about it because he had a passion for dancing. I also kind of came up with a theory about the girl shown also dancing, I think she has the same problem as the guy. The scene where she pulls out her hair can indicate that she has cancer and is on the brink of death. And the scene where they show lots of pills can be her medication. So the title "Last Dance" can mean that they can only dance once more, as the guy can no longer dance due to his injury, and the girl can no longer dance due to her condition. But both of these were only theories so it could be completely wrong

Last Dance is also because this was the last video on the Dance saga. Those Eve videos with people dancing? They come in a bunch along with this one. For example, Outsider, Literary Nonsense and Dramaturgy.
in my eyes, dancer san was an addict and a suicidal person
we see his feet painted red and a wheel chair.
what i like to think is that dancer san was a dancer of talent and passion. but we see his foot being destroyed and then "recombined" meaning hes experienced some sort of physical trauma to his foot and is unable to dance with it anymore. i also like to think of the hooded guy with beads as the doctor.
after this there are two possibilities
mika san is a therapist and hes taking anti-depressants
or
mika-san herself is a junkie and "helps" dancer through ofc listening to him and drugs where he can hallucinate and forget the pain of him not being able to do what he loves anymore
IMO later is more likely what happened.
or on a similar note
mika san is a dance lover and she isnt mentally stable thus shes in the hospital and is an addict as well and dancer and mika seem to know each other well before they got in the hospital. so its possible that they both knew each others secrets. but, it almost feels like, dancer cant dance anymore but mika san can but shes too destructive or she just might be the one who out of jealousy put dancer in such a place to get fame and less competition in the industry since he cant dance anymore yk

I feel like this song makes a lot more sense when you listen to Eve's song Leo. Like,,, the whole suicidal comment with those who chose tomorrow is something that I feel ties into the lyrics in Leo ( specifically the one were its discussing how no one will see his faltering steps). Either way Dancer and Mika i feel are more like foils. Mika is the one who abandoned the addiction, and Dancer is the one who keeps relapsing

Honestly I believe Dancer died at the end of the video as well . It's kinda of the harsh and sad truth that surfaces when undergoing something such as drug addiction but I also like to believe that this song could be a way to shine light to the path of others who are trying to recover to express to them to keep going and to not let their addiction kill them as it did with our protagonist. Also I'm proud of Eve for being able to touch on such topics . I undo what this song means to Eve personally but you can definitely feel the strong emotions behind it. I always love when music or even Jappanses music/vocoaloid songs delve into darker or even deeper topics. To me this medium helps me express myself as do drawlings. I think that's what makes this medium even more powerful using what they have and their style and art to convey these thoughts and feelings.

I wonder if the white-cloaked character represents the doctors, seen pulling dancer up and restoring him from tatters. With the face constantly changing, I think it’s safe to assume that the white-robed guy is ALL doctors, representing them all into one person.

Hopefully shooshiMooshi sees this comment (lol) but I'm a recent subscriber. Part of the reason why I subbed is because even though I've already listened to these songs by E ve and Mi Yuu, watching your reactions helped me assign meaning to them as well. I never look into music very deeply because I have a lot of trouble making interpretations and noticing enough details to make a coherent theme, but watching you has helped me get another look at what these things mean. Like for example this song, Last Dance. I didn't think it meant anything at all really. I didn't know what to think. And now because of you I have a different perspective :)

*Heres my theory:*
The person in black is disabled (due to drugs), and wishes to dance again with the girl. You can see this because the girl, while dancing had a wheelchair behind her. (it also could've been for her) Sadly both are in a hospital, which I am assuming of Tokyo (tower and buildings). The person in black sadly goes through a mental crisis, and starts doing drugs again, aswell does the girl start taking drugs, which I believe did NOT start taking drugs before (she also probably had cancer, which activated hair loss). But death is near. When Moshi said "Is that death?" the man in white is supposed to resemble death. Death allows the man in black to dance once more, and this is the part where we explain his 'job' and 'life'. He wanted to dance once more with the girl. One more very last time, very desperately.
*Extra Lines I forgot (important):*
"Everything I want granted has been taken away, leaving me distorted." The man in the black has his rights like:
- being able to walk
- being a free citizen
- and being able to live once more
taken away. His rights, that have been taken away from him made him a bit wacky and crazy, which makes him distorted.
"At this place are overgrown skyscrapers which have come and taken buds that are certainly yours." The overgrown skyscrapers might resemble Tokyo and the bad people inside of it *cough, cough* (yakuza). The buds resemble his power/talent to dance. The buds also resemble their legs the man and girl.
"With different values, that guy who I hate, put on a ridiculous sneer." He hates death. (the guy who has a high value/role in society)
"Deceived by elegant words; They waited, panicked and struggled. Racking their brains and grasping onto greed; They feel into the abyss of ego." For this one you'll probably need an example: Imagine your a homeless person, and theres always someone of a better value/rank of you. They used their greed upon others, which you resemble as the homesless person. 'The abyss of ego' is the life where they go when they're too high on the list of ranked. The abyss of Nothingness.
"The 'consumable goods' you mentionedーI'm still pondering about it." The girl (her name is Mika, but im too lazy to fix this whole thing) asked the guy (Canon name is Dancer) if he'd like to try drugs (which can be replaced into medications). (It could be for his legs so he could dance once more, but im still puzzled.) He was unsure if he should (he wasn't orginally taking drugs).
"Someday, won't you dance for me like this again?" He wanted the girl if he could dance with her again.
"The 'yes'-man patients who cleared their sorrows; Things that belonging to anyone, nor nobody." The patients (helps improve the hospital theme going on) who always said yes to anything, died, which nobody ever cared about (also improves the rich not caring for others, setting a horrible example for others 'idea').
"If our lives come to an end, when we know the true motives of others then... Lets talk until our tongues go dry." The true reason of life, and the reasons why the rich don't care for.
"Put up a bluff and lost oneself; Told a lie and became an illusion; If we became idiots and danced in mid air, then we would have already been destroyed." This is talking about how we lie to ourselves, and that becomes reality if it were taken advantage of.
"A pure and transparent young boy; His emotions have been dyed by evil and its doing it, Recalling, recalling, and thinking won't even help with finding the way." This part is when he realizes he's been lying to himself, taking drugs and not realizing it before its too late (the hole in his stomach, in the tv helps show this).
"At the corner of the world, im pondering about the true meaning of what you said. If you would melt even frozen lies for me then, the talented who understand solitude and the melancholic patients who choose tommorow." He's thinking about what the doctors said to him (my/other people's hospital theory talk) for what medication and what drugs he'd alreay had or is having (products that they're rying to get the patient into. This was from another comment on the Last Dance Video.) He also thinks about the different people that try do this/already have done this aswell.
"If it's goodbye to me who cannot return, then it's pointless to suck your finger and cry." This is basically saying that if you're sorrowful of him being gone/deceased then it's no reason for you to cry. He doesn't want that; He wants you to be happy that he's gone. (cruel right?)
"I'll wait for the last train. You don't have a way to return though. All the things that shouldn't even be here; I will not understand everything right now." The path of death leads to a way to return back into heaven, but yours doesn't (saying that your going to hell.). He still doesn't understand why but he'll try to sometime later on.
"When I looked from afar, you looked happy; But it hurts, and hurts, because I know everything." He's looking into the past, remembering everything before he dies, and realizes that you don't know all of it, so he starts feeling pain and agony due to what bad things he has done in his life, and regrets every single bit of it.
"And so we became anecdotes of our own. Now, with an uncertain smile; The stories that no one knew about, I'll tell you them right now. He and Mika, became their own stories. And now in a new era of a drug-free life for him, he decides to tell his story, once more.

i haven't finished the video yet im still not at the 2nd watch with the subs yet, but this is what i think is going on, the dancer was a very successful and talented dancer but due to some kind of physical trauma he lost his ability to dance the why he did, and all the passion he had for dance became less of a gift and more of a curse, he started to give into drugs and suicidal thoughts bec he started to put him self down? like criticised himself or something? and due to that he was sent to a mental hospital, where he was getting treatment, and i feel like the title and the words "last dance" imply that he was coming to accept the fact that he can't dance and that this would be his last day where he puts him self down and turns to drugs as if he was ready to accept reality or something? i know this is stupid but this is what came to my mind...also im sorry for my poor English and my grammar and spelling mistakes!
How I saw it was that he was definitely suicidal and had a addiction problem and maybe the women was an old friend that died of addiction and is helping him or maybe she got clean and was helping him. And I think he did get more help or maybe even clean at the end.

Maybe it's just that the dancer has an injury that prevents him from dancing or to say if he dances anymore it will cause permanent damage to his legs and the girl is suffering from some disease and they both are depressed because they want to dance but they cant because one doesn't have enough time and one will be physically harmed forever so maybe in the end they say fuck it I cant live my life without dance and will have a last dance without thinking of the consequences like maybe when they were up in the sky at the edge he was thinking to himself if I walk this thin line it would be disastrous but then hes like ehh why not and then does it anyway. Idk I am pretty sure it's not correct but it was fun thinking like this.

Several references to past videos can be found within the video!
The paperwork prior to that of the protagonist displays both the protagonist of Outsider and the protagonist of Dramaturgy. The screen also contains scenes from these two videos as well as Nonsense Literature. The song uses lyrics from Outsider and Nonsense Literature in the second verse. Lastly, the scene of the pile of masks seems to be a callback to Dramaturgy.
I guess it makes more sense now considering the manga. All the characters from these videos are in the same universe.
(Edit: The scene where the MC paints onto his tounge could be a reference to Outsider. What I assume to be Outsider MC's heart (in context with the manga) is also shown to lick something off of their finger. Maybe everyone in E ve's universe is on acid lol.)

In my opinion, this song is about artists.
Let me explain, I will use the mv and the lyrics.
At the start, the main protagonist is someone lost or discouraged. He feels no being love and wants to become "a celebrity" to stand out
"At this place are overgrown skyscrapers which have come and taken buds that are certainly yours"
Then he saw the girl dancing, in this scene we can see a wheelchair which mean that by dancing the girl recovered and became celebrated.
Next, the protagonist started to imitate the girl and he feels better. In the video he can now dance/walk, so dance help him to feel better.
But when he stopped dancing he fall and understood that he is not talented like the girl, now he feel jealousy and envy toward the girl.
"They fell into the abyss of ego"
And so, the protagonist trained to dance so hard in order to become a famous dancer like the talented girl.
However he forgot why in the first place he wanted to dance (feel alive)

"A pure and transparent youg boy, his emotions have been dyed by evil and is doing it

The little creatures that you see in some of Eve videos are called "ZINGAI" and that's how Eve refers to His non-human creatures / characters in His universe, Hitotsume for example, he Is a Zingai, He also called the Cat-shaped creature that appears in the MV of Shinkai a Zingai
Some of them have names, for example the egg it's 'Tamago' (lol), and the one that it's painting Dancer's nails is 'Ibex rabbit'
That's all that we know for now, that and the fact that Eve has a Book called "Zingai" and I think youu can still buy It (if i remember good, It was a concep art book?), maybe in Kara no Kioku we might get to learn new things about this

Mika (the grey-and-blue-haired dancer) and the Dancer (the black-haired protagonist) are the same person. Well, that’s partially true. Throughout the video, Mika is seen both with and without a mask. I believe that the masked Mika is a real individual. The maskless Mika is the Dancer’s hallucination of himself.
Let’s go through the video shot by shot:
@ - Our MC’s toenails are being painted blood red. Just keep this in mind.
@ - Mika is introduced wearing a mask.
@ - The Dancer imitates Mika’s final pose for that dance. He’s not hallucinating yet, but he’s imitating her and clearly latches on to the idea of dancing.
@ - After he gets drugged up, our protagonist starts “tripping,” likely leading to hallucinations. He starts to believe himself to be Mika.
@ - First shot of Maskless Mika (MM). Notice that her eyes, chin, nose, and even ears look the same as our Dancer’s. I compared their faces to other Mah characters’, and they’re all too distinct for this to be a coincidence imo.
@ - MM starts pirouetting (I think, I don’t dance, please don’t kill me). Just pay attention to who does this move and when. Also notice where it’s done in this shot.
@ - Real Mika starts doing a different dance, and in the following shot (@), Dancer’s face is obscured, mirroring how he can’t see the real Mika’s face because he believes it to be his own
1:11 - A mask falls off, symbolic of our protagonist slowly coming down from his high.
@ - Mika starts dancing again, but this time we only get a shot of her foot. The pirouette leads me to believe this is our Dancer hallucinating himself to be MM, evidence backed up by the possible red toenails being covered by the shoe like at @.
@ - Our pirouetting protagonist gets juxtaposed against the dancing MM. Also, he pirouettes in the same place as @. This is basically confirmation, but let’s keep going anyway.
@ - Pay attention to the way our protagonist’s hair fades away/falls out during his withdrawal. This will be important later.
@ - As the real Mika begins getting ready to dance, our protagonist also prepares to dance.
@ - The Dancer waves his hands to make way for a shot of MM dancing… you guessed it, a pirouette.
@ - Juxtaposition with the pirouette again. Notice how it goes from an overhead view of the fake Mika to a floor-level view of the Dancer.
@ - The Dancer does (I assume) LSD, and immediately after, his vision is obscured just like at @, showing that he can’t see the real Mika because of the drugs’ effects.
@ - The real Mika strikes a pose. Once again, the real Mika does NOT pirouette.
@ - Our withdrawn protagonist seems to be looking at the regular version of himself.
@ - This is where our MC accepts that he’s hallucinating. He comes down from his high and goes through withdrawals, again shown with him as MM literally pulling his hair out like at @. After all the excess hair is pulled out, what’s left is shorter, around our protagonist’s length, mostly gray, with a teal at the tips to mirror the actual Dancer’s black with white tips.
@ - The Mika here, even though she doesn’t do a pirouette, is still the fake Mika, evidenced by the lack of body-length ponytail. Because the Dancer no longer believes himself to be Mika, he can’t properly dance, and instead trips over himself trying. Even the lyric, “Someday won’t you dance for me like this again?” supports this.
@ - The protagonist combs through the fallen-out fake hair, fully coming to grips with the fact that he isn’t this great dancer he believed himself to be while under the effects of the drugs.
@ - Short-haired Mika is standing at the left looking at the city on a crystal blue platform on the left side of a floating structure.
@ - We get the same shot on the right side of the screen with the Dancer with a mirrored version of the same exact platform. These platforms seem to be disconnected from the building we’ve spent most of the video in so far, so I interpret this shot as being largely symbolic.
@ - MM turns around to look at the Dancer. Notice she doesn’t turn to face the right like if they were on different platforms.
@ - The Dancer smiles at MM, a title card, and then we get some shots of both Mikas and our Dancer. One by one:
@ - Real Mika, she’s not pirouetting
@ - Dancer does the Literary Nonsense hand motion, which I think represents being mentally unstable in some aspect or another. It also mirrors the constant pirouetting done by our drugged out protagonist.
@ - Dancer does a pirouette.
@ - Overhead shot of MM doing a pirouette.
@ - The real Mika does a dance.
Okay, I think those are all the important parts. If I missed something, got something wrong, you’ve got another interpretation, or you know the proper name for what I’ve been calling a pirouette this whole time, please let me know.
