Hi! Absolutely, you can make the text reflect the light. Try enabling Material Options for the text layer, then adjust properties like Specular Intensity and Reflection Intensity. You’ll need a 3D layer and an active light source in your scene. Play around with the light angle and the text's surface settings to get the shine effect. Cheers!
I am not too convinced with 3D lights in After Effects. I am honestly thinking about exporting Quicktimes to Blender because the lighting is much better there. But it should be good for 90% of the projects, still.
Hi! That makes sense, Blender's lighting can be super powerful for complex projects. AE’s 3D lights are definitely more limited but can get the job done for most tasks. Cheers! 😊
@@envatotuts I would defenetly agree! But for me it is not even so much about having "more power for a professional complex project". For me the problems already start with navigating the 3D space and animating things. In Blender it is all so clear and obvious but in After Effects a scene with 20 objects is already messy and I even get problems selecting objects. It's just soo super crazy to me how anyone would want to prefer to do 3D in After Effects compared a real 3D software package. The only area where I see After Effects shine is like in a hybrod project where 2D and 3D are getting mixed. Also of course I do not work with volume objects, there. So rotations basically look weird beyond 15 degrees. But then again I guess After Effects is easier to learn for beginners. I am only just figuring out the pros and cons after 15 years of usage, because until now, I only used After Effects for 2D.
Hi! If the light cone isn’t showing, try adjusting the “Cone Angle” and “Cone Feather” in the Light Layer settings. Also, ensure the light type is set to “Spot” for the cone effect to appear. Let us know if that helps! Cheers!
hi there, thanx for the great tutorial! i have a problem though, i don't understand, i do everything like sould be done and when i click ok on the light settings, i have everything, except the light halo, do you know where i could come from, i really con't get it...if you could help, that could be great ! thank you very much!

Hi! Thanks a lot, we’re thrilled you found it helpful! 😊 Cheers!
You're beyond amazing, you just got yourself a student, in the right words, a discipline this morning❤❤❤❤❤
This is the only reason why i downloaded after effects.
Thanks
Great video! By the way if the lighting isn’t effecting the piece how would you toggle that on?
Really help full 😍😍😍😍
Hey i was wondering if its possible to also make the text reflect some of the incoming light to make it shine?

Hello! This is a great video. Can you please help with the exporting of an AE file with spot light layers? My mp4s are coming out solid black.
so good thank you so much
Awesome
Thank you so much
Thanks for the insight 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you

Welcome
Is there a fix for this as when I add the light layer no cone appears.
