Colorado all dmvs answer the phone. I’ve never dealt with someone that was mean or even seemed like they didn’t want to be at work. Set up appointments, everything worked smoothly. I even did a walk in once and was seen in under 45 minutes.

Rob, if they take away your plate, go ahead and replace it with RABBIT. They actually center the word so you don’t have to worry about it being off-center due to it only being six letters in a space for seven digits. You can even verify it with the DMV beforehand.
Ok, for some clarity, I've tried to get a vanity plate for a hearse in SC, and the DMV is not only incompetent, they are also NOTORIOUS killjoys. I'm kinda surprised I was even allowed to register a retired hearse as a personal car. I ended up with DRAGULA on my tag, after ALOT of back and forth.

If you call the South Carolina DMV after about halfway through their day, around lunch time when they all go on break, the queue backs up, And once it gets So big it just starts hanging up on people.

Not a tag story but several years ago I noticed that M&Ms candy could do custom printing on their M&Ms. I decided I wanted to order S&Ms for a party. I call them up, they refuse to take that order. A few days later, I call up and explain that my twin girls, Samantha and Marilyn are having a birthday party. I ask if 'Samantha and Marilyn' was to many characters to print on the candy. I already knew it was way to many. I then asked if we could just use their first initials. :) I soon got my S&Ms in the mail.

The car is customized and has no external name or model badges so the license is the only ID of the manufacturer, for those that don't recognize the vehicle. NM is a rear plate only state, unlike CA, which I like because a front plate really messes up the appearance of the front of the vehicle.
I love how on the TST podcast, Ed mentioned the stories from the southern guys and here few days later we have Rabbit with another tale. And he made me laugh again!
His father passed a little while back, and grandfather more recently, really sucks losing family around the holidays, my grandfather left us right after Thanksgiving 6 years ago, was a tough Christmas, but at least we all had a nice dinner together a few days before ❤️
I enjoy Rabbit’s stories on the VINwiki channel, but for some reason I don’t find him nearly as entertaining on his own TH-cam channel. I don’t know if it’s the editing or story telling style, but on his channel he comes off like he’s pretty full of himself. On here he comes off likable.
California allows you to put a star in your plate. I had URABA⭐️D for a couple years until I unexpectedly received a new set of sequential plates in the mail. No note, letter or explanation…but I didn’t need one.

A friend of mine is a substitute mail carrier. She said she was thinking about getting a plate that said "THA SUB", I said what if somebody pulls up next to you with a tag that says "THA DOM"?

When I was a kid living in Los Angeles, I had a lowered oval window 1956 VW Bug. The plate I applied for was "2DAMLOW" too dam low. The lady behind the counter at the DMV said, "No way!" Then she gave me an alternate idea. She said. "What about "2DARNLO" too darn low. Got the plate only to have it stolen two times. It did get a lot of attention.
I tried to get the Plate "RTTT" in Utah. It's the trim level of my dodge stealth. I got a letter back from Utah DMV that said the repeating T's reference female genitalia. So I got STEALTH instead 🤣

I'm in Australia & our plates are 6 characters , for personalised it can be 2-6 characters . One of my cars is a red Ford Falcon XR6 , the plate is R3DXR6 . I can't say I thought of it , I bought the car off a mate & it came with it but it's a good place & I've been offered good money for it
