I know it’s been 7 years since this was posted but this is like the best car review I have seen in a while, very informative outlook on a used car and even recommending alternatives, you should do more reviews
Those years, and the 09 are also the ones that have the plagued Engine Block Crack Defect. I would avoid those years in a heartbeat if you don't want to deal with a factory defect. 2010 and 2011 are the best years.
No crack block? My 06 has 116000 miles so far. Had to put belt tensioner and water pump and reroute the belt. Other then that doing good. No engine block problems. Knock on wood.
Our 2006 has just over 196,200 miles on it! Great car We've owned a 93 Civic LX, 97 Accord LX (176,000 miles), 00 Odyssey EXL, and currently 06 Civic LX & 16 Civic LX.
There is also a DX-G trim level which I think is a Canada only trim. Basically a DX with AC and cruise control. That's the trim level I have, a 2008 with about 207,000km on it. Owned since 2012, can't say enough about how reliable it's been for me. Going to keep it as long as it'll last.
I love this car. So,much power, didnt had to to much maintenance except battery, starter, shocks, and serpentine belt. They last forever if you mainten it good
I bought a 2007 civic manual transmission for my son that is learning to drive... He is so happy with the car, it looks modern for the age and only 123k miles on the odometer.
Those cars last for ever. Always keep in mind. That it's important to change oil every 3000 miles and make sure Transmission fluid is red pink and if it'd black brown it's time to change it. I always take mine to the hodna dealership. They do professional job
I agree with you. This car loves revs for acceleration and I love my manual transmission, however, I'm am 70 years old and have been driving manual transmissions for most of my life and the one disappointing aspect of the Honda 5 speed manual transmission is that the sychros in 2nd gear fail early. The close ratio transmission installed this vehicle could have been designed to be more robust in 2nd gear. That said, I love this car and an automatic transmission was not an option.
Watch out for cracked engine blocks when you buy. Not extremely common but it is a known issue The Canadian CSX was a rebadged JDM Civic with left-hand drive. They were all manufactured in Japan as well
Cool videos. I finally got to see a tango red pearl with black roof. That's what I want to do. Looks good. Just bought mine 3 months ago. I bought for the reliability #1 to save gas for my commute to work #2 and #3 It dose look good. Close to the Acura TSX. Which I planed on buying but could not find one with low miles in my price range. I have always bought high end cars and they never last over a year or so or I would have a huge maintenance cost. With Honda I haven't had any major problems. And the ride quality is superb as if I was driving a Up scale car. Love my civic. :)
Nice video! Good points throughout. Just keep in mind the cracked block problem. Warranties are starting to end after the 10 long years of Honda extending the engine warranty.
@@SirAuron777 the 2010/2011 have no major mechanical issues, the only problems I've heard of is the infamous clear coat peeling and some problems with the sun visors

Hopefully the 12th gen will return the Civic to what makes it the best overall value of any vehicle.
southwarke not bad! Mine didn't have traction or stability control (I'm not sure if automatics do), but it drove fine with good winter tires. It's starting to show signs of rust in rust spots, the front bumper and hood are struggling the most. That said, itd it's twelve years old and it's not rusting to bits like Mazdas of the same vintage.
I was just looking at buying a 2009 with only 57k miles. Much to my surprise, the history report had many repairs that you wouldn't expect for so few miles and especially since it is a Honda. That was a bad sign for me so I passed on the car.
Must have had problems for some reason. I have a 2008 that I bought in 2019 with 127k miles. Now has around 165k miles. No issues what so ever. One owner before me with all work and maintenance done at dealer from previous owner. Trans fluid changed every 36k, etc.. The thing is 16 years old and like new. I expect another 10 years out of it easy.
It's funny, was just test driving one of those -08 models, was shocked that it was actually ALOT more noisy than my old Toyota Corolla e11 sedan (-97).. but other than that, a lot of car for the money they cost these days if you find low mileage one... Gonna go buy it when the shops fix the problems i found on it.
Then something's wrong with mine. Put new shocks all around on my '09 (non SI) and tires with taller sidewalls (205/60s vs 205/55s) yet anything more than the smallest bumps feels violent/harsh. It's making me hate this car! A shame cause otherwise I kinda like it. Yes I played with tire pressure. Currently 33 front, 30 rear.
@@kennybrooks8374. When it needs tires and assuming you have the 16 inch wheels, go up one size in height, from 55s to 60s (stock is 205/55-16). Go slightly low on psi.
