An Englishman’s home has always been his castle, but today’s castles are being fortified with the most advanced security systems ever known.
Break in: Make My Day explores the extreme lengths some British homeowners are prepared to go to defend their property from burglars and intruders.
Some are taking the law into their own hands. This observational documentary follows Joe Weston-Webb fight back after a series of criminal attacks; he’s defending his property with a 30ft catapult (built by Joe in 1976 to fire his wife Mary across the River Avon) loaded with chicken shit. Meanwhile, pensioner Len Fountain,constructed a booby trap primed with homemade explosives. His device successfully fired, but not at the intended target - Len shot himself in the leg.
Others are attempting to deter thieves with a complex web of hi-tech devices. Mark Kahl has so far spent £20,000 securing his 3 bedroom semi-detached property in Milton Keynes with 13 CCTV cameras. Despite already having such extensive security the film follows Mark boosting his defences further - including the installation of a ‘smoke screen’ (in his shed) and an inquiry for a panic room.
Break-in And Make My Day goes where no burglar will dare to go - into the homes of Britain’s ultra high-security conscious … and those that lie in wait for uninvited guests.

In the 70s we used to leave our keys in the front door and never worried about getting burgled because all the neighbours watched one another,now neighbours want to keep to themselves ,not a nice world we live in
The trick is not show that you set anything up and the intruders triggered an 'unexpected' fatal accident..

People have a right to defend their property ,don't burgle if you do face the consequences.
Big up Tony Martin he defended his property and shot the traveller boy who was robbing him, and he got jailed, eventually he was released after a public outcry, I'm not condoning that he shot a traveller, as I know lot's, but like you said you have a right to defend your property from thieving scrote's regardless of ethnicity.

The police would far rather arrest a decent householder than an actual criminal as its far easier and still gets them their statistics to pretend they are fighting crime.

security business marketing is aimed at making people feel scared in their own house, and some of them are so terribly insecure they over invest.
usually combined with a Big american truck, collecting snakes or spiders, weird interests, and somehow making money in a non standard self employed way.

There was an old loner in northern Maine (very low crime!) who got a little bit paranoid. He set up his old gun collection in various booby traps, mostly at the entrances. Then he stopped coming into town for supplies and the sheriff was sent out to check on him. He was quite dead, hoisted by his own petard. Very nearly got the sheriff, too.

I know a guy who had a home invasion. He and his wife were tied up, the house ransacked and car stolen.
It was months before his wife could sleep in the house again..they slept in a hotel.
Nearly every local shop has had an armed robbery.
And this is semi rural North Worcestershire.

I remember a few years ago a burglar broke into a OAPs home through a Velux window in her roof into her kitchen. As he broke in he slipped on the sideboard and cut himself on a knife the lady left out on the sideboard. He sued her for having an unsafe kitchen and won in court and won £8000 in damages. If you think there is justice in this country you are sadly mistaken...
I think that it extremely unlikely and would not stand up in court. Unless of course you are talking about another country and not the UK? I would be interested to see more details of this.

I live in France now. Security is pretty simple.....very strong oak external doors and heavy oak shutters closed at night for security and thermal efficiency.
External lighting and an alarm.
I only had to pay for the lighting and alarm as shutters and strong doors are standard in this part of France. €200.
that smoke idea is pretty cool.. some strobe lights and a multi frequency siren and it would be golden.. they'd be that disoriented theyd struggle to make it out the house

I caught a man breaking into my lock up I called an ambulance for him and warned him next time no ambulance. I am a working man I deal with life as a working man I will be severe with anyone who steals from me. No one comes near my property since.
An old friend of mine caught a burgular in his loft. He came in via the attic space from the empty house next door and dropped down into the hallway upstairs. The homeowner was older but at the time, was a strong chap. He restrained the burgular but didnt call the police. He didnt hit him, he disnt kick him, he didnt kill him, however, before letting him go he made him drink half a mug of the old parazone branded bleach 😂😂😂. The crook was a junkie from a few villages away and ended up with lifelong issues following the free drink.

Just had this pop up on my feed. I don’t know how old the documentary was but that guy with the cameras in his house has serious issues. There were so many Red Flags he displayed. I would be most surprised if he is still married to the same lady. he displayed a controlling coercive behaviour. The other two guys were just a couple of eccentric characters (hard to live with) but harmless unless you were a thief. 😂
It last aired in 2009, and not seen it come back on TV since.

Best burglar device I ever saw was my friends rottweiler, it would let you in without you knowing it was there but it wouldn't let you out.

4:48 I wouldn’t trust them, for pirate radio I’ve had to access tower blocks with magnetic locks… doors that open in are easy to barge through and doors that open out used a crow bar to get leverage on the bottom corner and they popped open..

With the type and numbers of young foreign male migrants we have arriving illegally into the UK, some with criminal or terrorist backgrounds we now need to secure our property and our country ourselves due to the fact that our government, police and our forces are unable to do it. Also I would suggest giving your children and wives personal attack alarms and defense sprays, also send them for martial arts lessons. Still amazed that people still think CCTV and alarms systems protect them. Don't install double security doors/ windows, and you will see if the thief's will stop because of CCTV or alarm sound. Fire weapons are illegal in many countries/ regions, but even when they are legal people will be in trouble most times when they use them... and apparently most people don't train enough with them so they won't be able to use them in the best efficient way... even if you escape prison you probably will have nightmare for the rest of your life for killing another human unless you are some psychopath.
