ugh when TH-cam glitched I was saying THANKS for going on this journey with me 🥹💐 Also: been thinking about livestreaming while i do my lil art projects or science experiments - what do y'all think?
@@taylor3950 I did the exact same thing! I was like I knoooow I can't be the only one who caught that lil diamond 💎 she just dropped. "Decluttering the idea of yourself"...whew I feel like I'm in therapy! Thanks for the free session Evelyn 😅
You’ve been inspiring me and helping me hold myself accountable. I’ve DEEP cleaned my bathroom. I’ve cleaned my kitchen. I’ve organized my desk area. There is my utility closet, clothes closet, and storage unit as my last projects. After grieving the loss of my mother and being depressed for three years it’s been an absolute struggle. You sharing your mental health struggles has been so transformative. Giving myself grace has been an ongoing process.
Hey, I’m 20, so like mid-Gen Z. These are some things I find nostalgic: Barbie Dreamhouses, Wii Sports Resort, Pokémon cards, the Littlest Pet Shop toys, Cooking Mama on DS, and Monster High Dolls
You killed me with the skateboard. "Am i over the weight limit? ALWAYS. Keep!" 🤣🤣🤣 Same girl, same. You should become depressie-besties with TracieMae here on TH-cam. She is HILARIOUS and sings a lot of silliness like you! 💕
Evelyn, put your tamagotchi on your keys!! I bought one and never activated it because I have a living tamagotchi called a kid so I just have it on my keychain. It’s my emotional support nostalgic item. It’s also a convo starter. People love seeing mine lol.
To answer your question about projects: I do 2 things: 1. I have a page in my journal for the current active projects. That helps me visualize how many. I try not to be judgemental about what is on there. Every once in a while I rewrite/draw it if it's feeling stale and that helps me understand if the project is still important/interesting to me. 2. I hold crafting nights at my house. I invite a group of folks over, provide snacks, and we all work on our own projects. Some folks do the same project every time, my ADHD does not allow that so I just go with whatever I'm excited about that day.
I love the idea of crafting nights. I have so many crafts that I start then don't finish. I think I'm going to start this with my friend group. Maybe a little glass of wine, some snackies, good friends, and crafts!
For my craft cabinet I do "Are you actually excited to work on this?" vs "does this item vaguely stress you out" and get rid of all the stressful ones. When it's just stuff I'm excited to work on, I actually will.
I actually muttered the Marie Kondo "Does this spark joy?" line at some point while watching this video 😅. I meant it just to be funny but then I see your comment and you know what? I like that approach. I also have seen more than my fair share of Hoarders episodes to also be careful of the "Maybe I'll get to it some day" fallacy. Maybe I will, but likely I won't.
Gen Z here! Things that make me nostalgic are Gameboys, Nintendo DS Lisa Frank stuff, Baby Phat clothing, Apple Bottom clothing and like lava lamps and house phones haha.
OMG! I didn't know body doubling was the name for the thing I do! I was in the middle of decluttering when I saw you posted this video. I was like: Perfect, I can clean while she's cleaning. I do this with cooking and other things too. Thought it was just me!
“Declutterring is NOT the same as reorganizing” that literally blew my mind 🤯. I actually feel like I can tackle all the areas I’ve been avoiding now 😊 i frickin love you girl!!! You’re absolutely amazing!
“Am I ready to give up on her?” WOW, that whole anecdote about decluttering an idea of yourself really resonated with me. I’m going to use that as a check point the next time I need to purge.
Tamagotchi looks like a potential keychain, tbh. The deep bond with the things we buy with our adult money for our inner child is strong. Sparkly enamel pins was a big things at some point for me. And nobody could get me to get rid of the lego boxes, or gameboy games boxes (yes, all empty). I wanna be buried in a coffin made of these. (... ok, that's actually a cool idea) Love to follow along your journey. Thank you for making these. Great body doubling indeed, and even brain doubling i would say.
Omgawd 😭 You just unlocked sumn with that ‘buying things with our adult money for our inner child is strong’ (paraphrasing)…never thought of it that way…very insightful, especially if you grew up struggling, but made it to the other side as an adult….thank you so much those words!💛
Maybe label each self with a 'use by' date. Then if they stuff is still there when the shelf expires, OUT IT GOES to trash/recycling! P.S. You're the best.
I don't even watch declutter/cleaning videos at all but I'm all the way here for your declutter series! You make these kinds of videos so fun to watch. You'll always be one of my fave creators!
I love love love the idea of adding a calendar event for craft projects and hobbies in order to use less screen time. You’ve inspired me to do the same! I’m gonna even make sure it shows up on my phone so I can hopefully catch myself next time I’m doom scrolling
paper sorting is not for the weak!! ok for the tamagochi you could make that into a magnet. the ribbon can be used as a bookmark + maybe if you decide to get rid of the ikea shelf the pending art projects can go in the newly emptied clear bins on the other shelf🎉❤ I wish you and i both luck with the paper sorting 😢😅❤
I’m a 2005 Gen Z and when I think of my childhood I think of the Barbie movies, littlest pet shops, pillow pets, leapfrog tablet, and I think that’s all my brain is gonna give me for right now lol

Yayy a long video! I love watching your videos. They bring me so much joy. You’re hilarious! I didn’t realize you posted another blog because it’s not on your main “videos” page. I had to go to the Playlists section to find it.
millennial nostalgia is sooo potent! I get genuine joy from owning and displaying all of my lil doodads and trinkets, curating your space and your stuff is just so satisfying. and I love all of the bright fun colours and cartoony touches
I love the idea of actually listing all the things that need to happen - I just kinda look at a section of my space that needs to be “deep cleaned” (sorted, cleaned, and organized) and get overwhelmed. I’m gonna steal the idea of actually listing what needs to happen, and also rewarding myself with flowers or something
I too am a creative girlie who always has things in progress. Instead of focusing on trying to get to those things on a particular day, I create a couple of drop stations in strategic places throughout my space. I know I won’t always have or want a full day dedicated to work on my hobbies. Instead I use a larger basket or bin and place it near a work station or in a drawer. So when I’m ready to finish those projects, I’ll pull them out and work on as much as I can. Hope this works for you ✌🏾🫶🏾
I'm a 2000's kid (born in '94 so hard to call myself a 90's kid sometimes buuuuut anyways) When you were talking about nostalgia, I have recently been thinking a lot about incorporating hobbies that I used to love as a kid into my adult life now. (freshly 30) and I'm having a great time re learning how to have fun and embrace being creative on a regular basis. I'm an avid thrifter and I'm getting back into upcycling and altering clothes, I want to re learn how to draw and paint, embroidery has been a fun thing to pick back up...and reading new books too as a cozy year round hobby :) thank you for posting!
11:11 lemme start by saying I do _not_ have a consistent long term system, but I have recently found that going through and reorganizing, or even just occasionally holding, things that are on "the shelf" helps things to get moved through more quickly and not sit there for months. I also made a list of my ongoing (mostly intangible) projects on my whiteboard since I look at it daily and it's easily changeable. That helps give me direction when I'm stuck for something to do as well.
Never heard someone who pronounces washcloth the way you do and it’s honestly the best thing I’ve ever heard. Gives my a little chuckle each time I love it :)
Oh friend, this was uncanny seeing conversations I've had with myself play out in this video. I both feel seen and heard (and a little spied on) and also, you're doing great and yeah, sometimes the organization that exists isn't what you need. Also yay visible storage. That's been Changing.My.Life in terms of remembering I have/want to do things. (also, if you crack the code on not using whatever surface as an accidental accumulation stuff for "whatever"..... give us all a hand!) I just did a work/craft shelf reorg this past weekend, and you're channeling the energy i had for that.
also: to do list shelf is GENIUS! i understand the struggle - i will prob end up having to declutter it too lol. but that's such a good way to encourage me to do my projects more. (i tend to talk myself out of creative stuff bc it's a lot of fuss to bring everything out and then put it back. but i only have but so much space!)
I love having a WIP (works in progress) shelf. I have project baskets that have all the materials I need to do whatever the project is so I can make use of 30 extra minutes instead of scrolling my phone. Or at least that’s the plan and it works some of the time!
re: your project question. block time, yes…but specifically to do the thing (rather than a regular time). that way you get projects in where they fit in.
Cuz! This is right on time. I am also in a declutter/spring cleaning mode. The sinister "dumping ground" 🤣. I gotta few of dem around the house also. Its something about a flat surface that leads to this urge to place something on it 🤔 As for magnets, I also have a bag of bananagram tiles I want to make into magnets or combine with my OTHER bananagram bag to make a like a super bananagrams game😬 lol I really appreciate your videos, cuz. They either bring a smile, give a much needed deep hearty laugh or they give insight into how I can also be a better.
or the hobby to do list shelf: something i do is each week (preferably each day lol) i put an art project in the cubby by my front door where i grab my keys and wallet as a reminder to finish the thing. example: i try to keep my camera by my door as a reminder to shoot and to get the film developed
I completely relate to the ikea idea project shelf dilemma😅 What I do is stuff all my upcoming projects into a box. That way it’s neatly tucked away but the box is big enough to capture my attention and remind me to periodically work on my projects
I had to pause the video at the nice ribbon from a shopping bag, because I have the same exact one! I kept it for years and finally made a craft out of it recently.
I feel seen! I have an orange ribbon that I saved because "Ima do something with it some day" 😂 I love the declutter videos. Thanks for sharing this journey with us 🧡
Maybe you could use the cubby you freed up as your new projects shelf instead of the ikea ladder shelf? I feel like the shelf by the door is well placed though but maybe better for decor or displaying cameras? (Round rock daiso sells these cute clear acrylic boxes perfect size for cameras and keeps them free from dust) because maybe the ikea ladder shelf is so prominent in the room it feels like your undone projects are mocking you or drawing your attention away from what you’re currently working on!
She really gets it. She really really gets it. Also definitely not be blueprint for foundation of how film yourself and the process. Like what a great interNet art teacher. Also can we get the Tristan walker collab? 2024.

i CACKLED when you decided to put that blockbuster game in the keep. Good on you! I love a good 'I gotta remind myself what I got in my home and keep it' declutter sesh. I'm in that tribe- we got us!
I go through the same thought process when I am decluttering 😅 and yes as an art girly it is hard to know where to put all the little in progress project things 🫣
When I’m working on multiple projects I gotta leave an element out to remind me. I also have to develop film so I’ve left one camera out to remind me. I’m working on making pins so I’ve left a base out. Then I slowly work through them every night for at least 30 mins.
I was having a bad day today, but this video drastically improved my mood by making me belly laugh several times! Thank you for your content and for being you ❤
Creative reuse is THAT GIRL! Love there's one near you. When I declutter, if there are small things that make me feel good enough to hesitate about getting rid of, I let it stay. Anything can be decor, esp if it makes you feel nice. :smiling_face_with_hearts:
7:45 Reminds me of me when I first tried to snowboard as a kid. I had one of those cheap boards with the foot loops... I strapped in and boarded for about 0.5 seconds and the board flies out from under me and I end up rolling down this huge hill.
Hahaaaa. I have 3 packs of The And cards that I ordered and had delivered to Nairobi too! They're so colorful, they're now part of the bookshelf decor. This video reminds me why I love it here ( and your playful spirit) so much...like me, you're clearly a reluctant adult. 🎉💃🏾🎶🇰🇪

yessss I’d love to see that
'decluttering the idea of yourself" is LITERALLY SO PROFOUND. I'm going to think of that the next time I declutter because I relate to that so much.

I don't know why I'm enjoying this so much, lol. The skateboard took me out, but the Prince Zuko socks, LMAO. Ok lemme finish watching, lol.
loved this and the amazing definition of what decluttering can be, at the end of vid. Thank you :)
Creative reuse is THAT GIRL! Love there's one near you. When I declutter, if there are small things that make me feel good enough to hesitate about getting rid of, I let it stay. Anything can be decor, esp if it makes you feel nice. :smiling_face_with_hearts:
You did an awesome job in the paper clutter video Kudos to you
7:45 Reminds me of me when I first tried to snowboard as a kid. I had one of those cheap boards with the foot loops... I strapped in and boarded for about 0.5 seconds and the board flies out from under me and I end up rolling down this huge hill.
Omg thank you for this! I needed something to motivate me to tackle my clutter!!!!!!!
Lmao “Not trying to pay that copay” 😂 real life adulting 😂
Hahaaaa. I have 3 packs of The And cards that I ordered and had delivered to Nairobi too! They're so colorful, they're now part of the bookshelf decor. This video reminds me why I love it here ( and your playful spirit) so much...like me, you're clearly a reluctant adult. 🎉💃🏾🎶🇰🇪
