Swamiji 🙏!! I am excited to know how to discern. Looking forward for the next videos for this.
Just a comment: This is regarding panchamahabhuta in lecture 6 and the introduction of lecture 7,. We know that in India 'khichdi', is made of rice, pulses, oil, masalas.... This is absolutely correct. In our routine conversation we need not say that khichdi' is made of 59% carbon, 20% nitrogen (arbitrary ratios given here).... This is more technical but the earlier one is more easy to understand and yet absolutely correct...
It is arguable that ancient rishis didn't know about 104 elements, but that statement regarding panchbhuta definitely has much sense.

My interpretation of Atma Kosha is thus: Kosha here refers to the layers of "challenges" in increasing levels of difficulty. First challenge being the physical body which the conshiousness identifies itself and which it needs to differentiate. Once this level is conquered, the sukshma sharira in the order of prana , manas and buddhi in that order and difficulty need to be made distinct from atma. Thankful to the guruji , they are slowly making sense.

Swamiji, thank you for the satsang's mercy!
Here are a few words that came out of nirguna, from the silence of reality through the grace of Sri Ramana Maharshi:
    641. Even though in truth one ever remains as Self [Atman],
one’s efforts to seek Self as if one were something else and to attain Self,
is to subside finally by knowing that the Self [‘I’] shining in anyone,
though it now seems to be different from oneself, is not different from oneself.
    642. One’s thinking that Self, which [in reality] is not other than oneself,
is other and toiling very much to attain It through one’s own effort [through sadhanas],
is just like one’s running after one’s own shadow to catch it.
    643. Since existence itself is clearly shining as the
    consciousness ‘I-I’ in the heart,
that reality, the unfalse eye [or knowledge], and not those objects [vishayas]
seen by the physical eye, alone is sakshat [what is seen directly].
    Therefore, seek and know that.
    644. Those who do not keenly attend to and know the existence-consciousness
which shines ever-unsetting in the heart, fall into Maya through the objective attention
caused by the ego, which rises and attacks with dense delusion.
    (Guru Vachaka Kovai)

I think the Rishis were correct. There are five elements, today called solid, liquid, gas, plasma and aether. What is aether then? The aether is the zero point energy in space. Atoms for example are merely shapes of zero point energy.

    • @Anders01

@Ruby Badilla Yes, consciousness is more fundamental than the material universe since all objects both material and immaterial exist as appearances in and of consciousness. I didn't read your whole comment, but I think it's consistent with this view.

Memory is stored in the literal cells of the body even, so certainly beyond the brain. In fact that is one of the reasons for one carrying the nose of the grandfather on one self. This is much deeper subject, but i just wanted to make the afore point

  • @ustinovvadim2114

Returning to the question of the five elements, in my opinion the ancient rishis were not mistaken in anything
and their description of both the absolute reality and the material world is completely reliable.
I am carrying out the description of 5 elements that I encountered by S. Chatterjee.
According to a well-known description, from Atman, or Brahman, the five subtle elements first arise in the following order:
ether (akasha), air (vayu), fire (agni), water (apas), and earth (prithivi).
Then these elements are mixed with each other in five different ways to make up
the five material (gross) mahabhuta elements under the same names.
The material ether is produced through a combination of five subtle elements in the proportion:
    1/2 of the subtle ether element + 1/8 air + 1/8 fire + 1/8 water and + 1/8 earth.
Likewise, each of the other five material elements is formed by a combination of subtle elements in the proportion:
1/2 of the subtle substance of a given element and 1/8 of each of the other four.
This process is called "combination of five" (panchikarana).
The subtle body of a person is formed from subtle elements,
and the physical, like all physical objects of nature, is formed from physical elements
that arise through the mixing of five subtle elements.
Shankara shares this description of the creation of the world,
but he considers the whole process in the light of his theory of vivarta
(an illusion arising from the fact that one object is taken for another),
or adhyasa (a word for denoting illusion or seeing one thing as another),
then there is all this - just unrealistic assumptions.

Ancient Rishis are masters of both material and spiritual knowledge.
Greatest of great Adi Guru is non other than Dakshina Murthi. He imparted part of his knowledge to ancient Rishis. The scientific fact which is accurate today may not be correct after 100 years. But the knowledge from ancient Rishis is eternally truthful. Leave all doubts, follow teachings of learned Guru.

Such good lectures. He did an amazing job and comes off so humble and likeable. Memory is not in the brain, its in the magnetic field surrounding the brain. It's non local like fourier transforms in holography. Think of reality as a wave or a field that permiates the entire universe and only takes on a phusical appearance in our minds but is not physicall parse.

    Sri Ramana Maharshi taught:
    M. To know that there has never been ignorance is the goal of all spiritual teachings.
Knowing your ignorance is a necessary part of knowing. Awareness is jnana,
which is eternal and natural, but ajnana is not natural and not real.
Some eminent people attain unshakable jnana right after hearing the Truth,
for beginners it takes time to achieve this.
People ask, "How did ignorance [avidya] come about at all?"
They should say: "Ignorance has never arisen, for it has no true being.
THAT which IS is only vidya [Knowledge]."
Devotee. Why, then, am I not aware of it?
    M. Because of samskaras [inner tendencies of the mind].
However, find who is not aware and what is not realized.
Then it will become clear that there is no avidya.

Pranaam, some questions arose, based on this talk…
    1. Worldview - even enlighten persons have different world views? Their world view is not complete? Or is it dependent on the situation of the world, the level of language, and the attitudes of masses during those times?… don’t we have to update entire vedantic texts for current worldview then?
    2. Area of Expertise - there is no relation between enlightenment and knowledge about human creativity and politics etc? what are all the things which are out of scope of enlightenment?
    3. Rebirth - Is a human being a single life? What about food we eat, microbes inside us? Each cell has own life? Who gets enlightened then? And what exactly is a soul? Does sukshma sharira also change/grow with each incarnation? How does it survive after death? If you destroy a computer hard disk, the data is gone… but if someone dies, how does memories/karma survive, and how they are reborn?
    4. Ignorance - If ignorance is beginning less, then is it brahman? Otherwise how can then ignorance end at enlightenment stage? Turiya, is deepest deep sleep or total wakefulness? Or something else or both?
    5. Decay of sharira - When does the decay starts? The child’s body is still growing… is there any tipping point?
    6. Suffering - If we don’t identify with our own suffering, can we identify with suffering of others?… spirituality and compassion for others, how to relate them?

      2. The knowledge that is revealed is that you do not know. Examples: you do not know nor can know what you are, you can only be. All you see are images, reflection and could not be you. You are a mystery onto yourself. Shrouded in mystery, you are undefinable, limitless... Actually even that is too defined.

3 rebirth. Your identification does not get reborn. Then your identification to identification does not get reborn. In other words you don't mind having opinion or not having opinion. As you don't mind, you don't build karma, and as you don't mind having karma, karma is not a source of suffering, so to you, karma has disappeared.
You are not attached to hopes.

In fact, for those that really want to understand fully and do a real deep dive actually take to learning sanskrit and hindi because in certain cases, English does not even have the right equivalents to translate some of the concepts from Sanskrit into English.

If you see five sheaths apart from consciousness, that's an error. Five sheaths are 'made of' brahman, yet brahman remains unaffected by the sheaths. Like copper does not get transformed into some other metal if a pot is made out of it or a dish. Error is if copper thinks 'I am a pot'. Knowledge is, the very existence of pot is possible because of copper.

Jeevathma a sookshma sharira which have no death but takes different bodies by reincarnation based on yet unknown universal rules, and jeevathma is bound by space and time fabric whereas paramathma is not. Jeevathma with borrowed "freewill" fulfill self desires by actions and experience their results either good or bad based on universal laws. I think "1. Jeevathma who is attached to the body is called sthula sharira. 2. Jeevathma who is attached to emotions is called sookshma sharira. 3. Jeevathma attached to parmathma is called moksha sharira.

Memories are a part of the sthula sharira alone? Question: Why then can some people remember their past lives in detail?

    • @prasadbingi9157
      @prasadbingi9157 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is the same question I had. The past life research and regression therapies clearly show that our memories are not erased but they become inaccessible. Several meditators also report that they are able to see some of their past lives during deep meditations.

Memories are part of Causal body and are stored in sub concious mind. Causal body is result of karmic action of individuals past lives.

@Kofi Manu, yes, but she was aware of the Self and thus enlightened before, during and after birth.

Why the ancient time so focus with this idea of suffering or ignorance? They are dream like that have blind sport or hidden that cause from misidentification. Seem like they use avoiding for suffering which they fear most to find freedom. it is not in your reality of your essence why concern too much of what you are not? Non self recognition open opportunity to miss use gift of form. Like blind fold. Not always end up in the hole but potentially can be in the hole in a matter of time. however, Being in the hole let you to discover you are blindfolded which can be a driving force toward atma. Atma gives you power to see whether you blindfolded or not. Karma ideas seem to imply that having a body is a burden by natural process. Infact, it has equal opportunity to be blissful. Why they are not extensively explore? After all body is a mechanism for all experiences. It is not exclusively use for suffering but it is available to be explored. Allow nature to be what it is. Atma present everywhere, everything, so where would atma be without karma or desire? Or what atma be like without desire? How about the desire to know itself is a burden or enlighten?

VAGUE POINTER - sat = the one which never changes, or the one which ultimately exists and can not un-exist or die. existance has SAT in manifeted(lower kosha forms), truth- what never changes, real- everything exists, be it param sat or temporary (a form of sat)

Here is my understanding thus far as i shared it with someone I would like to share it with your audience as well:
@Hitogokochi of course I like yourself do not know. Dude, I think about suicide quite a bit honestly so Im no "enlightened being" parse. But lets entertain this for a moment. Do away with all fixed beliefs in other words empty all the programmed ideas you have about matter and yourself. These are mental structures perhaps hardwired by evolution or emergence theory. As Bohm would say the implicit becomes explicit. In zen they say small mind and big mind. So i agree that "consciousness" is a physical process of brain/energy but thats whats on the surface or perhaps seems that way. What Zeki was aluding to perhaps is there is no specific location in my body where I am. True. Also billions of cells in my body have a life of their own too. So what is left? I amness. Sounds dogmaticly spooky but thats what i think you refer to as consciousness. The unwavering sense of the wholeness of the one, the self that aparently is non local. So if you look at it that way, then things just seem convincingly real. We wouldnt watch movies or go to a theater show. There is a term I learned in college when i took an elective theater class and that is, when you go to a theater show you have to "suspend your disbelief" and you do, otherwise why bother going? And it works without you even trying hard. Or when you watch a sad movie, like The Champ, or ET, you cry even though you know its not real. But feelings are there. So i think that car accidents, cancer, death of a close one are the same thing, pain is a feeling too. So self inquiry as in who is feeling all this may lead us to the source.

    • @smausil
      @smausil 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

hey, do not ever thing about suicide... we all love you... and what I felt about you, you need to let go of many things, and instead you are trying to put in texts from zen, vedanta and what not... don't make a dangerous cocktail for yourself... everything is just too simple... just start sitting in silence WITHOUT THOUGHTs and you will get CALMER and CLEARER...
remember 'yogah chitta vritti nirodha'... the real meditation is cessation of thoughts in waking state... let me give little explanation...
      1) there is earth: therefore you have a body which comes out of earth, feed off earth and goes back to earth, and sticks to earth via gravity etc. and you can touch, see, smell it etc
      2) there is water: therefore you have viscous blood and other body elements, which lubricates you so that you can move and do stuff (taste is mroe toward water, yout tongue detects subtle chemical nature of viscour form (food has to melt a bit to give taste)
      3) there is air: therefore you breathe, and its like ELECTRICITY in side you called prana (leaving it here, can explain in details)... so you have nose and air systems within body.
      4) there is sound, so you have ears, there is light so you have eyes and so on...
      now the question....
      1) there is WHAT that you have thoughts?
      2) there is WHAT which sees when eyes are closed, during sleep, keeps body going during sleep and awake etc???
the answer is your CORE - true self... whatever you want to call...
now... whatever PAIN you have, if you LOSE YOUR MEMORY... wont the pain disappear? maybe some uneasiness remain... now external hammers might end up doing more damage, but there is an internal healer... trust me, you had more pain in last incarnation than this one... so let this internal healer heal you..
how does this internal healer works?... it corrects your thoughts and memories and priorities and perspectives for you... how??? just learn to stop your thoughts... the true meditation... the final TODO for all humans... and the thoughts will heal, which will heal the body and everything... thats the best you can do... do it for the sake of millions of cells in your body, if nothing else
      my best wishes
