Dodge teaming up with Cummins back in the 80’s was probably the best automotive decision ever made. My Dad’s first heavy duty truck was a 1992 Ram 3500 extended cab manual transmission. Hard to believe but he bought it brand new for just under $21,000. We put 500,000 miles on it before selling it to a farmer. Unfortunately rust was a bad problem back then. The engine never missed a beat. 5000 mile oil changes with Shell Rotella T and she was happy
Semi related in the partnerships that work sense. I often wonder how long it will be before one of the big automotive manufactures teams up with one of the big name off road heavy industrial/mining hybrid electric drivetrain giants to come out with a bullet proof yet still low cost EV or hybrid that's actually simple and cost effective to own and operate?
I just bought a 92 w250 club cab Cummins with getrag 5 speed, all stock, farmer in Tennessee had it, took care of it and I now daily drive it in Florida. Drove fine from Tennessee to Kentucky then back down to Florida in 2 days. Best motor ever
As far as lifts on being aesthetic that’s just not true. More ground clearance gets you over bigger rocks and thru deeper mud. That said if you over do it you will have problems hitting low branches.
Coll0ssal-Voltag3 he’s pushing 1800 hp and it’s not properly tuned?!?! Wtf...maybe you should go give him a few tips on how to get more power out of it
I do buy and have been buying for over 10 years .Although I do own a Cummins,I also own 3 other Dodge Ram with a 5.9 Magnum V8, a 8.0 Magnum V10 and a 5.7 HEMI V8 . They are all GREAT ENGINES.
UPstater5.9 you are absolutely right. What they don't show you is what it took to get this beast. Alot of high hp diesels dont last very long. It takes a crew that really knows how to get one one of these running right to make one run as well as this one.
Engine itself is 1k+ axels are 550 a pice Then you got the cage and the full steel Frame A truck bed weighs almost nothing man it's just a few feet of sheet metal
it is still around the strip. I just saw it a few weeks ago at my local drag strip in burlington nc. firepunk does some badass stuff. i think it dynod over 2400 last year at the rudys season opener
I watched a truck with this kind of HP take on a McLaren on the highway and he absolutely dusted the McLaren!. It's funny to watch them get so disappointed by their loss lol.
i may have missed something when the camera guy was talking to the driver of the dodge..stated truck is still weight at 6,000lbs? was it weight for the class or trying to state the truck was still at factory weight? even though engine bay, cab, door pannels, and bed were trimmed and gutted out to reduce weight?
i would think the compression ratio will have to be quite low, and might actually be so low that it would need compressed air to be able to get the heat of compression to start.
And high performance diesels actually don't increase compression. They reduce compression on modified diesels to be able to cram more air and fuel into the cylinder.
+jfdb59 did u watch the 2014 diesel power challenge. the guy that had biggest hp on dyno n one of the fastest 1/4 mile had a stroked 6.7... de-stroked 6.7? what's the benefit of that compared to just doing a 5.9?
Eliud Fernandez De-stroked or d-stroked, not quite sure, is a builder. I think they got their start doing power stroke to cummins swaps. Hence the name de-stroked. But now they must build and race cummins too.
Wow so many haters in here. Let me piss you off some more. A diesel holds the current land speed record (for ICEs) at 350MPH. And better yet, it was a modified excavator engine.
end of the weak That “race equipment” is bolted to the frame. There’s no floor. Try hauling a load of mulch or sand etc. Not happening. It looks like a truck just like NASCAR cars look like the ones on the street but that’s about it.
No practical but looks fun as he'll! as for the 6000 pounds I have nearly the same truck but stock it weighs about 7500 pounds. bolt on oversized turbos a high capacity radiator and extra coolant because you will need it when you make that much power. Need up both drive shafts that are attached to the heavy duty front and rear axles and toss some plastic and tin. I think they did good to get the weight down to 6000.
+bruteman45 he did that when he picked us up from school cause 2 slow cars were in both lanes and it was those 2 infront and my dad and a pretty loud mustang(surprised it didnt spin out...jk lol) and so they kept brake checking and so he started riding the persons ass and he finally gets around them and he just floors the truck and i look in the rear view mirror all i see is all that coal in the air👌

Bad ass, props to the first gen at 2:32 for running freaking 10's (gasser), with a real bed no less. Love it!

this is what truck guys should be going for! not ridiculous lift kits and zero engine mods
Mario e Not everyone believes in having speed that serves no purpose...
Then why have lift that serves no purpose?
Lifting a truck is fine as long as you actually off road it. The whole mall crawler thing is stupid.
As someone who has had several off road vehicles including trucks and SUVs, I can tell you trucks are very capable if you build them right.
As far as lifts on being aesthetic that’s just not true. More ground clearance gets you over bigger rocks and thru deeper mud. That said if you over do it you will have problems hitting low branches.
Wow, that thing runs so smooth and stable when going off!
That feller in the Challenger didn't expect that either.....what a sweet vid....that's one torquey truck.
That Cummins CAN hit under 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Just requires a bit more tuning. Nonetheless, that truck is awesome.

THIS TRUCK IS INSANE!!!!!! Awesome video!!!!
Was not expecting that red 1st gen to be so fast
Hard to beat Cummins power for work or play! Very reliable inline motor as were the inline gas engines of the good ole days!
Almost as fast as a 90s street bike! Very impressive
Congrats , you’ve just made it public that you know nothing about street bikes or vehicles
going back to look at this now and seeing a 5k pounds tesla running 9 second at 156mph is insane
