FNS stocks going up, really shows that even though NRG in both VCT 2023 & 2024 have had 3 Optic players each, it's an entirely different team. No hate to Ethan, but a genuinely established IGL means so much more, especially one of FNS's quality. Also, I really hope this shows to both NRG management & other orgs in the future that tossing a bunch of big name, big star VCT title winners together doesn't automatically guarantee success. At the very least, where is stuff like Vic raze instead of the atrocity of Demon1's, where are a variety of any set plays, where is the playbook? Sure there's a high ceiling with plenty of firepower but there's no cohesion & very little strategy to build off of, which i blame more on coaching. regardless if either NRG get grouped in Champs or don't even qualify to begin with - I think the NRG team we had last year will be seen way more favorably , barring that embarrassing Champs performance. They were only a few swing rounds away at both LOCK/IN and Tokyo from finals appearances (granted they don't win those finals most likely, but still). This current NRG team has already missed two-thirds of the VCT international season (let alone reach a top 6/4 place in those), and might not even make the last one. Only way I see this NRG team being viewed better than last years is a Top 2/3 minimum finish at Champs + probably winning the entire thing, which barring a miracle given their current form will not happen. definitely think there will be some rotation regardless of the rest of the season goes. Coaching staff first is the best action, then move onto individual members based on their performance and genuine impact for the team. Chet (& others if need be) and 2-3 players, one unfortunately likely being Ethan.
You say throwing together big name VCT stars doesn't work but meanwhile Leviatan looks like one of the best teams in Americas and maybe even the world. Most of their players are comming in English for the first time, Kingg's IGLing abilities are mediocre at best and worrying at worst and theres already been hints of internal drama after their poor Kick-Off performance and yet everything worked out for them during the league, mostly because of individual firepower from Aspas, Kingg and even the others. I think NRG just overcooked, they had these grandiose ideas of becoming a super team and playing the best valorant ever seen but their strats are just baffling and honestly they just seemed overconfident throughout this split. If they just play basic, boring old strats they would make it to playoffs on firepower alone, maybe even to the international events and it would at the very least give Ethan some time to learn the ropes of IGLing and give the rest of the team some time to adapt to eachother.

14:32 fun fact bout that match: All NRG had to do was to get a map win in order to qualify to playoff (due to the map diff being 7-6 for both Sentinels that won 2-0 and the eventual Shanghai contender G2 that would lose 0-2 against Loud) Imagine NRG won that ONE map against 100T, could've been a different story tho
They would just waste a spot by going there. G2 will at least put up a fight. You can't do shit without a solid IGL and to add salt on injury their tram chemistry or combination is a mess.

I genuinely don’t understand why for many maps (e.g. bind), they put Victor on smokes while forcing demon1 on raze. Demon1 played so much Astra and brim last year, and Victor has always been one of the best razes on the scene
as a raze main, its frustrating to i see demon1 use guardian instead of judge on some instances. his satchels are bad. plus, it just doesn’t make sense because he has low sens
I mean demon1 needs to learn raze better as a pro duelist main but that should be like next season stuff not this. He needs time to learn the agent on that level.

I think at this point, it's the coach that needs to change. Sometimes I watch games where NRG is down like 4, 5, 6 rounds in a row -- any other team would have called a timeout by the 3rd or 4th round loss in a row -- yet Chet doesn't. and then NRG go on to lose the map and they have 2 timeouts left. all 5 players on this team are strong players, we've seen them all before. it's the coach's job to bring them together and show off their best, and to work with the IGL to bring it to life during the game.

NRG(or the Optic core) is so used to be fed calls by FNS, and now that FNS retires they just looked lost and without call. There is a reason why ethan is a veteran player but isn't an IGL on EG.
This video sums up their issues so well. Even watching their comms videos, its always so underwhelming listening to them. FNS did a great job at motivating his players and I s0m also did a great job at keeping the energy high at all times. Their role issues is so huge because most maps require a double controller setup like bind or lotus but they don't have that capability(maybe on bind since demon1 can play brim) but for a map like lotus where viper and omen are huge it doesn't help. Ethan being a initiator main alongside crashies, marved a controller, and demon1 mainly brim and jett, with victor as the only flex really limits this team in terms of team comps. FNS and s0m would be such a nice fit because s0m used to be a jett player for old nrg while also having a very great agent pool and FNS taking up that viper/sentinel role while being a very reliable IGL. The IGLing is obviously an issue because even with the "weaker" nrg squad from last year they still managed to qualify for every international tournament and this year they can barely even make it to playoffs let alone a tournament which really shows how much FNS played a part in that team's success. It really sucks as a long time fan of the optic core because I really enjoy watching these players play but seeing this downfall is truly heartbreaking. I really hope FNS and s0m come back next year and they can go back to dominating the pro scene.
I dont think fns gonna comeback to pro scene, since his career as a streamer grow up especially after he glaze prx (lol). He is now become the "tarik" of vct pacifict. There is no reason he gonna left all of his career as a streamer n comeback as pro val again
I blame chet and ethan. Ethan isn't the IGL he thinks he is. He credits himself way to much for EGs victory when boostio was doing the real heavy lifitng. And honestly, Chets coaching has looked lackluster for well over a year now.

Honestly a great summary video of everything going wrong with this roster. I just hope by some miracle they get their shit together in split 2, otherwise roster changes definitely need to be made, which sucks because individually all 5 of these players are some of the best in the world when they're on their game.
I like alot of points you noted in this video but I feel as if its primarily focused on a more so, statistical focus on player performances per agents and not really the gameplay factor? Like platoons video highlighting Demon1s performance on EG vs NRG had a great breakdown on his first contact playstyle, almost lurking in a way when NRG was forcing him on Raze, same with Victor being a tremendous flex player but really shining on Raze. You should consider watching Platoons breakdown "The TRUTH Behind EG Demon1 vs NRG Demon1". He addresses a lot of issues the team was having from more of a gameplay analytical standpoint. These are just my opinions. Overall great video, please keep uploading :)
their mistakes are not even hard to fix after vodreviewing, if he was offerd the role of igl is bc he is actually good at it, this has to be more of a coach or staff problem. I dont doubt this team could do better in the future if they decide to stay together
im not sure if its really a clash in vocal leadership. I remember hearing some of the comms (I don't remember who it was against) but the overall energy was very lackluster from the team. I get that they were on a bit of a rough run at that point but I'm pretty sure they were winning that game and acting like they were getting wrecked. It's kind sad because I know that Marved was the hype man on that optic roster and FNS whilst he brought that stability with his igling also brought that needed engery in games
They control only b main. Nobody on site, nobody in market. Marved could've easily teleported behind that dick in mid in case he's afraid that somebody watches from top mid and flank market. But instead he either has no balls or what even worse that if he offered to his team to do so which is the only right play in their scenario, ethan or whoever is actually igl on the team stopped him, thinking that 5 men in 1 position which can be smoked is a good idea
You know lev isn’t telling mazino to hold uhaul on his own, he has backup in case he doesn’t get his, gekko blind goes over truck, and Aspas shoots victors ult. And viper is too useful with the Mollys to have flank, so he floods backsite with the team

EG c0m flanked as viper at this exact situation at VCT semi final against PRX and won them the round, so I won't say there is a guarantee that viper is not flanking. He might be holding hooka but find it too late to rotate so the viper flanks
I Don't support NRG(kinda root for them to do bad just to annoy a friend) but their performance is just sad. When the roster was announced, I was wondering about the IGL and role issues which look very concerning as of now. They need a proper IGL instead of Ethan(No idea Who'd be suited right now) and Idk what's happened with Chet tbh.
i dont know how but i feel like this team has some issues showing up from the tweets to the statements made i have no doubt these guys are owning in scrims maybe they need a good igl to discipline them or a good a vibes guy to keep them comming if there were only 2 free agents who can do that for them
I feel that Ethan isn’t completely comfortable on IGL because boostio was doing it before their attack feels like ranked but moving marvel to igl might work because sen made it partly work while playing raze maps move victor to duelist while demon1 can move to the smokes role that he played a bit on EG so victor can make it a bit easier for them
This is the same that was wrong with KC last year, so many problems its impossible to start anywhere. The problems are extremely severe, like just not having any default on attack that actually takes map control, having bad executes, little to no setup for your star/entry player, having bad calls/overlapping calls, players being put on roles that dont make sense (duelist players learn to play raze and yoru at this point. Aspas and derke shows its possible to do at a worldclass level).
They need to put demon1 on perma senti role or switch with him and Victor. Meteor in GENG used to be the duelist but since Texture got bought in, they’ve put him on senti/duelist in some comps/maps and now look at them. Just pure embarrassing tbh.
Late to comment but I wanna point out that Demon1 being slapped on to duelist and basically forced to at least get a kill and stay alive for NRG is just not his thing. D1's mechanical strength is based on his calm aim, essentially making him amazing for taking 1v1 or finding timings since even if someone is aware, he'll most likely win the gunfight. However, on NRG, he's forced to basically play like Zekken, Aspas or Tenz when he was on Jett, entry, get a kill and stay alive. It's a lot to do for someone who's just not made for that role. I think they could have had a solution in doing double duelist comps beside getting a diff IGL since by all means, their team if working together has a lot of firepower with many explosive players
i knew this team would be mid tbh no igl was never ending well, and sinatraa wouldve been better than vic, should've been trialled in vics role instead of demon1s

It's not a single player ruining this team. It's moreso the lack of a single player that can play the role of IGL properly ruining this team. Their biggest issue is mid rounding and having the correct reactions to sudden situations. Ever since this roster came together, i had my doubts. Whilst FNS is a downgrade as an individual player, he would be an upgrade for the team as a whole. If the Saadhak and Less rumours are to be true, Less will be an upgrade but Saadhak will be the one to truly bring this team to the top.
Now imagine nrg with som and fns instead of demon 1 and Ethan i can see it the core optic marved,crashies,victor,Fns, Som i can see som do flex man is a good duelist and controller
Most of this disconnection between players just shows how hard it is to play with a new igl. Although Ethan isnt the best igl, crashies, marved, and victor are used to playing with an insane igl in fns. I think ethan expectations werent proven.
NGL fns was the heart of the team , at times he was like performance/mental coach for the team , you can see in the nrg/optic behind the scenes vids. S0m was so good of a flex/smoke player that Chet expected to slot marved into the same, which didn't work when he's on cypher. Crashies struggling with gekko is a surprise but not outta the ordinary as gekko isn't a text book initiator like skye or sova. Ethan is great but not an IGL unfortunately, even a young dedicated igl like johnQT would've taken this team to masters and won (keeping aside if the big egos on the team would listen to him) Due to the core having such a good resume, it's not out of the ordinary to speculate that they have egos or atleast their own ideas of how the round should be played, which can only be fixed by having a seasoned igl like FNS or saadhak (whom the players respect) or by having an IGL who's fluid but also very confident in his calls like boostio Also I just think they should just bring back fns and s0m , bench Ethan and demon1, it would fix the role issues(s0m's Jett is as good as demon1's for the most part and he is good at diving plus his character pool is vast), fns is a no brainer after watching him sit their and explain game theory on watch parties, he is meant to IGL
I totally agree, I think people forget s0m used to be the main jett player for old nrg and especially with most maps requiring a duel controller setup with viper as a base, having s0m is huge. Also fns being not only a seasoned igl but also a viper/sentinel player would help them out so much since victor can comfortably play raze without having to worry about his teammates underperforming due to not being on their comfort role.
I wouldnt drop demon1 tho. Even when nrg were getting battered and outcalled he still showed signs of his champions performance, if the team put him on his comfort roles (NOT RAZE, FUCK CHET) and actually had good calling and support util he would still be one of the best players in the world. His ceiling is much higher than most duelist players out there (except aspas, hes the goat)

i think their egos are what got them... the hype behind their Champs win and having world class players and no discipline led to no team cohesion. if NRG keeps this team they could do some real dmg next year but its clear that they have so much work to do
good video, but i don't understand how the marved clip showed how lost he was. i think he did a good job in that clip of causing chaos and stalling for the rest of nrg to plant elsewhere. i do however think that his sentinel looks weak when compared to his controller, just that that particular clip, while pretty funny, wasn't relevant.
No offense to Ethan, but his mid game shotcalling is just confusing. With FNS, they had an identity of mid game dominance. Seemingly all players no matter the advantage or disadvantage in numbers are in the perfect place.
maybe it's time to change the OpTic core (Chet, Victor, crashies, Marved) let Demon1 (Jett, some smokes & Chamber) and Ethan (initiator role) stay (or not) in NRG, all they need is take some talented players from Tier 2 and maybe an import. Guys from C9 have potential, they always win on regular season but they can't even grab a chance to play on international stage. I'm talking about Xeppaa (Raze, initiator or flex) and OXY (main duelist) fRoD is also an american formerly from LOUD, imo his talent as a coach is a waste in an org like MiBR mCe formerly from C9 who made good run of his roster N4RRATE and johnqt had a banger series, their debut as a Tier 1 player already gave them the chance to play internationally and even won 1st seeds of their region. NA/Americas have the most talents in Valorant, NRG should look for more and better options rather than sticking into champions edit: just found out NRG is trying to make change and they're eyeing on Sadhaak and Less they're literally looking for champs only Boostio and Zellsis gave their team the energy and vibe, I think players like Xeppaa can do it on NRG too (just an opinion, maybe I'm just a typical Xeppaa fan lmao) NRG created this "super team" but all I see are one-tricks. Victor can deliver but as an audience, observing him play different roles is not good.

I think nrg are really slow on attack... Maybe they should change their playstile on something like PRX or FUT using comps that are working only for them playing fast and out aim others... And maybe try changing igl (in team) like T1 with xcurate

Maybe Chet is doing the same thing he does where he tries to play it slow and win by information rather than aim, like they have with Optic or NRG last year - but the problem is that there's no FNS to gather the info and call something that "turns the tides" to their favor. Ethan is decent, but there's a reason why FNS has played for so long despite not having the best aim. FNS, Som and even Ardiis also have such huge personalities and replacing them with Ethan, Demon1 and Marved just makes the team full of passive guys. They need a loud guy LOL

FNS and s0m would be such a nice fit because s0m used to be a jett player for old nrg while also having a very great agent pool and FNS taking up that viper/sentinel role while being a very reliable IGL. The IGLing is obviously an issue because even with the "weaker" nrg squad from last year they still managed to qualify for every international tournament and this year they can barely even make it to playoffs let alone a tournament which really shows how much FNS played a part in that team's success. It really sucks as a long time fan of the optic core because I really enjoy watching these players play but seeing this downfall is truly heartbreaking. I really hope FNS and s0m come back next year and they can go back to dominating the pro scene.

I blame chet and ethan. Ethan isn't the IGL he thinks he is. He credits himself way to much for EGs victory when boostio was doing the real heavy lifitng. And honestly, Chets coaching has looked lackluster for well over a year now.

Honestly a great summary video of everything going wrong with this roster. I just hope by some miracle they get their shit together in split 2, otherwise roster changes definitely need to be made, which sucks because individually all 5 of these players are some of the best in the world when they're on their game.
I like alot of points you noted in this video but I feel as if its primarily focused on a more so, statistical focus on player performances per agents and not really the gameplay factor? Like platoons video highlighting Demon1s performance on EG vs NRG had a great breakdown on his first contact playstyle, almost lurking in a way when NRG was forcing him on Raze, same with Victor being a tremendous flex player but really shining on Raze. You should consider watching Platoons breakdown "The TRUTH Behind EG Demon1 vs NRG Demon1". He addresses a lot of issues the team was having from more of a gameplay analytical standpoint. These are just my opinions. Overall great video, please keep uploading :)

their mistakes are not even hard to fix after vodreviewing, if he was offerd the role of igl is bc he is actually good at it, this has to be more of a coach or staff problem. I dont doubt this team could do better in the future if they decide to stay together
im not sure if its really a clash in vocal leadership. I remember hearing some of the comms (I don't remember who it was against) but the overall energy was very lackluster from the team. I get that they were on a bit of a rough run at that point but I'm pretty sure they were winning that game and acting like they were getting wrecked. It's kind sad because I know that Marved was the hype man on that optic roster and FNS whilst he brought that stability with his igling also brought that needed engery in games

They control only b main. Nobody on site, nobody in market. Marved could've easily teleported behind that dick in mid in case he's afraid that somebody watches from top mid and flank market. You know lev isn’t telling mazino to hold uhaul on his own, he has backup in case he doesn’t get his, gekko blind goes over truck, and Aspas shoots victors ult. And viper is too useful with the Mollys to have flank, so he floods backsite with the team

EG c0m flanked as viper at this exact situation at VCT semi final against PRX and won them the round, so I won't say there is a guarantee that viper is not flanking. He might be holding hooka but find it too late to rotate so the viper flanks

When the roster was announced, I was wondering about the IGL and role issues which look very concerning as of now. They need a proper IGL instead of Ethan(No idea Who'd be suited right now) and Idk what's happened with Chet tbh.

This is the same that was wrong with KC last year, so many problems its impossible to start anywhere. The problems are extremely severe, like just not having any default on attack that actually takes map control, having bad executes, little to no setup for your star/entry player, having bad calls/overlapping calls, players being put on roles that dont make sense (duelist players learn to play raze and yoru at this point. Aspas and derke shows its possible to do at a worldclass level).
NRG should pick up Boostio and Demon1, a true igl and also knows how to activate Demon1 who requires set setups

Late to comment but I wanna point out that Demon1 being slapped on to duelist and basically forced to at least get a kill and stay alive for NRG is just not his thing. D1's mechanical strength is based on his calm aim, essentially making him amazing for taking 1v1 or finding timings since even if someone is aware, he'll most likely win the gunfight. However, on NRG, he's forced to basically play like Zekken, Aspas or Tenz when he was on Jett, entry, get a kill and stay alive. It's a lot to do for someone who's just not made for that role. I think they could have had a solution in doing double duelist comps beside getting a diff IGL since by all means, their team if working together has a lot of firepower with many explosive players

It's not a single player ruining this team. It's moreso the lack of a single player that can play the role of IGL properly ruining this team. Their biggest issue is mid rounding and having the correct reactions to sudden situations. Ever since this roster came together, i had my doubts. Whilst FNS is a downgrade as an individual player, he would be an upgrade for the team as a whole. If the Saadhak and Less rumours are to be true, Less will be an upgrade but Saadhak will be the one to truly bring this team to the top.

Most of this disconnection between players just shows how hard it is to play with a new igl. Although Ethan isnt the best igl, crashies, marved, and victor are used to playing with an insane igl in fns. I think ethan expectations werent proven.

NGL fns was the heart of the team , at times he was like performance/mental coach for the team , you can see in the nrg/optic behind the scenes vids.
S0m was so good of a flex/smoke player that Chet expected to slot marved into the same, which didn't work when he's on cypher.
Crashies struggling with gekko is a surprise but not outta the ordinary as gekko isn't a text book initiator like skye or sova.
Ethan is great but not an IGL unfortunately, even a young dedicated igl like johnQT would've taken this team to masters and won (keeping aside if the big egos on the team would listen to him)
Due to the core having such a good resume, it's not out of the ordinary to speculate that they have egos or atleast their own ideas of how the round should be played, which can only be fixed by having a seasoned igl like FNS or saadhak (whom the players respect) or by having an IGL who's fluid but also very confident in his calls like boostio
Also I just think they should just bring back fns and s0m , bench Ethan and demon1, it would fix the role issues(s0m's Jett is as good as demon1's for the most part and he is good at diving plus his character pool is vast), fns is a no brainer after watching him sit their and explain game theory on watch parties, he is meant to IGL

I totally agree, I think people forget s0m used to be the main jett player for old nrg and especially with most maps requiring a duel controller setup with viper as a base, having s0m is huge. Also fns being not only a seasoned igl but also a viper/sentinel player would help them out so much since victor can comfortably play raze without having to worry about his teammates underperforming due to not being on their comfort role.
I wouldnt drop demon1 tho. Even when nrg were getting battered and outcalled he still showed signs of his champions performance, if the team put him on his comfort roles (NOT RAZE, FUCK CHET) and actually had good calling and support util he would still be one of the best players in the world. His ceiling is much higher than most duelist players out there (except aspas, hes the goat)

I think nrg are really slow on attack... Maybe they should change their playstile on something like PRX or FUT using comps that are working only for them playing fast and out aim others... And maybe try changing igl (in team) like T1 with xcurate

Maybe Chet is doing the same thing he does where he tries to play it slow and win by information rather than aim, like they have with Optic or NRG last year - but the problem is that there's no FNS to gather the info and call something that "turns the tides" to their favor. Ethan is decent, but there's a reason why FNS has played for so long despite not having the best aim. FNS, Som and even Ardiis also have such huge personalities and replacing them with Ethan, Demon1 and Marved just makes the team full of passive guys. They need a loud guy LOL
