I moved from the suburbs of LA to the Talisay, Cebu in 2010. Philippines is HOME for me now. The people are the sweetest, friendliest, most hospitable people I have ever met. I found my Prov.18:22 favor from the Lord here.
Some neighboring Asian counties like South Korea, Thailand the parents send send their children to the Philippines to study & learn English. English is the second language and use in school as medium of teaching . Pinoys are more open & warm to foreigners as the country for centuries is being invaded by different countries. An example was when we were still living in Manila my father brought home a couple from Texas & were living in tents close to Manila Bay or the Cultural Center. He found out that they were waiting for their $ to be remitted. They ran out of money. So he brought them to our home to stay and being fed for a few days till they got their money. That’s the hospitality and care they experienced.
Uh...I would like to correct you on the origin of their friendliness/hospitality to foreign people. If you happen to research about the time when Magellan's crew reached Philippines, that friendliness was already there.
I think I didn’t make myself clear when I said for centuries PH was invaded by different. It meant Pinoys are used to seeing different nations coming so much so Pinoys are already friendly and hospitable. It may have started with the first 2 neighboring countries that came & settled in the Phil, Indonesia & Malaysia. I believe they were already family oriented people . Therefore being friendly & hospitable. These are what we inherited from them. It’s already innate in our culture.
Some Filipinos though they can understand and speak English usually feel intimidated when trying to communicate with an English speaker, not wanting to be embarrassed by their perceived "inadequate" English.
True🤣🤣 Even Filipinos make fun of themselves when talking in English, they would automatically say that they had "nosebleed" when talking to an English speakers.
@@HappinessBoms1 a filipino mindset is we usually eat vegetables at home so why would i eat vegetable outside? I would want meat meat meat... especially those that are hard to cook at home.... that's why only a few veg dishes are sold or serve outside
That's true, our country the Philippines is open to all nationalities regardless of color, race, religion, culture, etc., as long as they will respect the law and the people. They can stay in the Philippines as long as they want to.
🙂🤟🥳Aside from Adobo, Try Sinigang na Hipon or Maya maya, Tinolang Manok, Bulalo, Sisig, Nilagang Baka, Bicol Express, Kalderetang Kambing, Adobong Pusit, Menudo, Binagoongang baboy, Pinakbet, Bulanlang, etc...Many of these dishes have different versions depending on the provinces they were cooked. Philippines is combination of traditional and western culture and diverse..in major city western culture is very visible especially in manila, if you're American you can easily adopted, .from food, clothes tv program and etc .except on rural area mostly people are practice traditional style of living
I think it’s much better if you ask in a positive way, like instead of asking, what are your culture shocks maybe say it as “do you have any culture shocks?” or instead of saying when are you leaving? Maybe say do you plan on staying?
That's true pilipinos ang family oriented people and God fearing people, we put God as the center of our lives; I'm smiling while watching the entire video watching from Philippines by the way 😊🇵🇭👍

Mostly we can speak English, and we can comprehend English, especially in written English. Still, some do not practice their English conversation because we talk in our local dialect, and you guys foreigners speak very slang, and we can't understand it because of listening problems hehe.
Not to let down my country but I know other Asian countries have more beautiful sites to offer but what makes it easier for foreigners to live in our country because I think among the Asian countries we are the one thats mostly Western in our way of thinking and living and because most Filipinos can understand and speak the language.
The Philippines actually have a lot of natural attractions. Almost every island has something to offer to the tourists. The Philippines just have a bad reputation internationally due to the negative reporting from the media. People who visit the Philippines are then surprised to know that their image of the Philippines is not what the media portrays the Philippines to be.
I'm Filipino born and was raised in the streets of the USA. When I go to the Philippines, the locals can't understand my english or what I am saying. I'm like wtf? I end up using my hands to talk including my middle finger when I get mad. Lol
English speaking Visitors in the Philippines must not assume that all Filipinos can speak English fluently. You should Speak slowly and maybe add a hand signal and smile to make the person you are asking less intimidated. Many times I noticed, they can not get what you said if you do it fast, try doing it very slowly most times it will work.
When you visit America, they will always ask or tell you to "Speak english or go back to your country" THEN when they travel around the world they expect the locals to Speak english..How ironic.
