Not sure if you still have this but I can basically sum it up for you (with fairly decent accuracy): Southbridge. That large, black chip that's above the APU and is likely CXD90042GG or CXD90046GG. It can be another but I think that board uses one of those two. Anyway, that console had a massive power surge. Be it lightning or from the USB port, it blew that USB mosfet up and traveled up through the M59 PMIC next to Southbridge and to Southbridge or the exact reverse. This only seems to happen with those Slims, btw. When it happens it takes the same exact path (why I actually think it's from USB or LAN port) and works it's way up. Check the caps under the Southbridge (other side of board) and caps around the PMIC I mentioned above. You may be able to save it if you change those out and the USB mosfet but, sadly, these situations tend to take out so much that it rarely fixes it. You end up. basically rebuilding the board, lol. Consider it parts if you haven't already and don't feel like spending $80 in chips to test. I've seen literally dozens of this exact case and maybe 4 have been simple Southbridge and mosfet fixes. EDIT: Also, remove the 3v battery before checking boards as ot can give false readings. Just a tip and good luck.

If there's bugs it might be the power supply itself, but there's always the possibility of it being something on the motherboard. You could try to buy a replacement power supply and see if it fixes it. However, even replacement power supplies are pretty expensive right now. Might just be more cost effective to sell it and buy something used on the Facebook Marketplace
Bugs can destroy too many things as they literally short components when they get fried inside. However, absolutely no power points to the power supply, APU (main chip) or Southbridge chip. If you had a bug infestation it could be any combo of the 3, sadly. You can send it in for repair to any business (I have a repair shop) but I do not take bug infested units as it will void by lease. However, many do and of if it can be fixed it would cost more than buying a used but working unit on Ebay.
Mine's doing the same thing with the blue light going on and off I'm pretty sure it's just really dirty I want to get it professionally clean I've only had it for 3 years My PS4 slim
Seperate the psu from the ps4 and then plug ac into psu and check 5v standby (pins 1 and 2 most likely). If 5v present, short 5v and acdc_stby (most likely 3rd pin), and check for 12v on the main power pins. If that's ok then psu is good, and most likely its faulty southbridge chip.
Do you get video/audio output when you turn it on with your controller? If you do then the PS4 still works. On the slim there is a little sub-board that connects to the main PS4 motherboard using a small ribbon cable. The ribbon cable might have come loose and not making contact properly (the LEDs on the board might still be lit but the contacts for the buttons aren't connected). Or it could be the button is physically not working. You can get a replacement board from ebay pretty cheap, it's one screw holding it in place, and the ribbon cable. Very easy to fix If there's no audio/video then the HDMI port could be bad or the HDMI encoder IC is bad, as well as the sub-board

Kyle, hopefully you want to improve your way of analysis. The way you're showing like plugging in 12V with no 5V standby from your bench power supply, makes no sense to me ;). Once you've got 5V, you can check the power on from standby if there's a 3.3V and how many mA is taking this board. Your aim should to to initially start of 30, go above 100 and drop down to around 30 again. That's the proper jump when you plug in the power. I'd not blame the PSU in the first place, but the POST, which is power on self test. If there's no power on the standby, someone replied here in the right way, I'd blame the south bridge ;). If you have an oscilloscope, there's a quartz on the side of it, you can google, but I think it's around 30kHz. With no standby voltage, you need to fix it first ;). So, I'd recommend to start learning proper procedures if you'd like to do them quite often and don't guess things :). Hope you don't mind my comment :D, I did that in a good faith.
Try connecting the controller to the ps4 via USB cable and make sure it is charging then turn it on, it should connect to the console, if it isn't charging there is an issue either in the cable, the ps4 USB port, or the controller port.
Well, high temperatures should at least be accompanied by fan noises, the efficiency of the fan can be recovered by deep cleaning the console and maybe replacing the heat paste, that worked for me and reduced the noise noticeably .
The power button is bad. If it's a slim or pro it's on its own little daughter board, super easy to swap out. If it's an original it'll be soldered to the motherboard, which I've done a video on

Press the eject button, if it beeps but the PS4 doesn't turn on with the power button, inserting a disc, or using the controller, then it's some kind of power fault. I'm not sure. If there's not lights/noise when you press the power/eject buttons it could be the power supply is bad, since it's not getting the 5v power from the supply that powers the chip that controls the power/eject buttons.
Yep. No 5 volt input.
It has power?
My controller stopped connecting to my ps4 slim, I tried every method and nothing worked. I was wondering if its something more serious?
Try connecting the controller to the ps4 via USB cable and make sure it is charging then turn it on, it should connect to the console, if it isn't charging there is an issue either in the cable, the ps4 USB port, or the controller port.
Is the fan always spinning on the ps4 slim? I bought a 2nd hand console and it's only on 10mins and it's really hot, but there's no noise of the fan.
Well, high temperatures should at least be accompanied by fan noises, the efficiency of the fan can be recovered by deep cleaning the console and maybe replacing the heat paste, that worked for me and reduced the noise noticeably .
My ps4 only turns on from the controller and not the console
The power button is bad. If it's a slim or pro it's on its own little daughter board, super easy to swap out. If it's an original it'll be soldered to the motherboard, which I've done a video on
I have a slim PS4 that we was playing and I heard a pop the the power went off and I check it all over but didn't see anything wrong would it be a good idea to just buy a new mother board and see if that fixes it ??? looking for opinions tyvm
If something went pop then either a capacitor blew or something sparked/arced and caused the popping sound. I'd look at the power supply first
@@KylesTinkeringthe same thing happened to me. Should i change the psu? Please help
What was the cause, did you have it checked?. Let me know plz
My PlayStation 4 was at its best, and when I want to open it to play, he doesn't want to open until the flash doesn't work, and I think there's a power button malfunction.
What's the solution?
I think there's a bit of a translation error here. Do you mean the light flashes and then turns off?
@@KylesTinkering No I mean he's not blinking and I don't know why
@@khalidhamad5782 Press the eject button, if it beeps but doesn't turn on with the power button, inserting a disc, or using the controller, then it's some kind of power fault. Could be the power supply or some kind of power regulator on the motherboard. Very difficult to troubleshoot and fix... If it powers up with the controller or disc insert then it's probably the power button. If there are no beeps, doesn't power up, it could be the power supply
He's not flashing,And there are no alarms and has a disk inside it do you know what is the problem please

I don't have a warranty screw spot
My PlayStation is not turning on at all
Can you help me sir my ps4 when I turn on its beep and light then off
You've got a power issue and need to spend some time troubleshooting it. Sorry
What should I do sir?
Can I fix it on my own? Or I need to go to shop?
@@mrpuff3848 It's probably some kind of power management circuit on the actual motherboard, could be a bad mosfet or maybe a shorted chip. If you have experience repairing systems and troubleshooting faults like this then you could fix it. Otherwise, it may just be more cost effective to sell it as parts/not working and buy a new one
Power supply fam
My ps4 slim wont turn on, i changed batt on plugs changed cables i changed power supply nothing works, there was no dust or bugs, no damage to anything i side.. whats wrong with it? Help please
Power faults on systems are tough. It's usually not as simple as replacing a fuse, because the fuse blew for a reason... Could be the power supply, which would be simple to replace, or something on the motherboard. Press the eject button, if it beeps but the PS4 doesn't turn on with the power button, inserting a disc, or using the controller, then it's some kind of power fault. It could be something easy like the power supply or some kind of component on the motherboard (mosfet, transistor, capacitor, etc). Very difficult to troubleshoot and fix... If you haven't done any kind of repairs I'd recommend contacting Sony to pay them to fix it, or sell for parts on eBay and use the money towards a new system.
Remove the CMOS battery and put it back in then try it.
I played the game for hours yesterday. Went to turn it on and nothing. No light no sound nothing. So depressing
how did you fix it
@@hokage9164 I switch the power cord like three times and eventually it started working. I can't say it was a power cord issue because the old one is working again. But that's what I did switched the cord like three times
Similar problem disc in drive power button not working but eject you hear beep and it do not turn on and controller just acts like a flashlight help me
22 series no antenna on psu
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME WHY DO I HAVE TO TEAR THE WHOLE FUCKING THING JUST TO PLAY IT
can i send my ps4 to you to fix? i’ll legit pay you
My ps4 slim no power .what hapen bos?
I'm not sure. If there's not lights/noise when you press the power/eject buttons it could be the power supply is bad, since it's not getting the 5v power from the supply that powers the chip that controls the power/eject buttons. If you get beeps then it's getting 5v but not powering on. Could still be the power supply, or a bad component on the motherboard. No power can be a very difficult thing to troubleshoot and fix lol
This comment section: hey i poured water to my ps4 why wont it work?
Fr tho
So damn true😂😂😂😂
I just bought a ps4 2 months ago and it powered off on me during a game and would not turn back in. Im sure I'll have to send it to sony because I'm not an expert

How do i know if its the power supply or the motherboard I would love to trouble shoot this problem myself.
