I am a long time gamer. Skyrim is my most played of all time. I was turned on to Heilung, Wardruna, Danheim, and other similar artists thanks to music mods in the Skyrim modding community. For several years now, regardless of the timeless beauty of Skyrim's literally perfect soundtrack, I always find myself compelled to install a mod with a mix of these artists. I may be inspired to make my first mod, even if just for personal use, including Eihwar. For decades Dead Can Dance, Deftones, and Tool have been my absolute favorites. NOTHING could change that, or so I claimed. UNTIL I heard artists of this genre for the first time. I was forever changed in many ways. These bands literally feel like home for me. A home I before never knew existed. Thank you. Thank you. Adopted, I only recently found out about my ties to Scandinavia. My aunt has researched our lineage back to some Viking Clans who settled in what is now called England. I swear this music is part of my DNA, ancient and deeply familiar. For someone who never understood the feeling of home for most of her life, the profound gift of this music is beyond words.

I also feel that way. I found Heilung a couple weeks ago and I felt so connected that I want to find out about my Viking ancestry of which I am now certain I have.
As a history lover, I adore this genre of music! I love to call it "musical archaeology", since it tries to emulate as best as it can how our ancestors perceived music. Another great track for my Varangian Guard playlist! 🪓

These songs with the Groovy dance club rhythms are what makes Eihwar crush the competition with all the other Pagan Folk bands, and really stand out as unique... I hope they continue to pursue that energy, a lot of the other pagan folk bands get too slow and lack this battle march momentum.
