    It's so warm here in the kitchen, with the old wood stove's oven door open and a kettle rockin' on the fender. Great to see you out working, while my eggs and bacon are fryin' up nice and hot. You go get 'em, Bjarne. I feel a nap coming on.

    Awesome cut bud. Watching the side of the tree against the mountain in the background showed all the tipping and good on you for watching that one sliver that was all loaded up. It could have ended your day or worse. That one cedar looked like an upside down carrot it had so much belling in the butt, LOL. Kinda like some interior yellow pine eh. I have sooooo many great memories of sitting on a big stump having lunch and enjoying the silence of our world up there. Sure not a lot of good merch in there though. Cutting in the stump for stairs is a "Stairway To Heaven", That's if your old enough to know that tune eh, LOL. Seems we only run out of gas is when we have one cut up and the wind starts up eh. I only had it happen twice and that was twice too many times in over 30 + years. Poss one day you can explain to the folks don't know what a "Humboldt" in the undercut and a "Barber Chair" is and what could happen. Just one for me in a black spruce. No Humboldt but the same results happened. The slab went right by my L ear. I can't live on the coast any more due to healt things but now just West of Prince George we have a few large Doug Fir and some (a lot) of Cottonwood that was a treat for me to work on. Just me and a safety to pack the gas and oil along as a day like your having was great. Bucking is always so much more dangerous than falling. I known many that have been really hurt bad while doing it. Your cuts are ALWAYS classic. Great post my friend.

    Just a tidbit, maybe it'll help. Every so often, select to reformat the memory disks after downloading the files and deleting. It helps reduce chance of corrupt video files. Gotta keep us viewing the big cuts.

    Hey Bjarne maybe if you carried a couple rafting dogs the ones the boom men and log towers use.you could bang of those in and clip into that when you’re doing mid air back cuts like that.just a thought. As usual a great job

    early mornings are sometimes the best time of the day because it's not stuipedly hot just yet depending on time of yr it is. and you end up seeing some amazing sun rises so it can be extremely rewarding. And your case its super nice because u can get early start and get alot done by quitting time

    I enjoy your content. I’ve been curious for some time now to understand how logs are collected off the mountain once you’ve bucked them.

    • @allenhuling598
      @allenhuling598 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On this job (and a lot of the jobs Bjarne works) the logs are lifted out by a heavy-lift helicopter, and then on some of the others it's done with a 'high-lead' method....basically an overhead cable system that lifts them up or down the mountain to a 'landing' alongside a road. Hope that helps!

    Could you make a short video, explaining some of the terms you use? "Cat Face, "Barber Chair" etc.

    the mic is great for when communicating with us. but it kills the nice sound of the saw. if there were only a way to switch to the camera mic when cutting.

    I noticed you did that step up on the second half of the undercut again? I’ve asked before-may have missed your response-but what’s the purpose of that? Genuinely curious. Thanks

    Hi Bjarne. How come when you cut out the second half of the face you leave a 3 inch step on the bottom cut? Thanks

    Just watched an old one wear you say you had chain break all totally nonchalant no problem . I had a chain break on my 088 4 foot bar 6" of the ground in a BIG Scots fir
    Me lent right over power head BOLLOKS EXPOSED , engine ran away bushes all shook me goes what happened ? Then noticed NO FUKIN CHAIN .
    It still makes me feel a bit queasy 20 years later . do you folks realize how fast a 404 chain goes on a 088
    ps the 088 or the wife ? errr let me fink .

      It’s tougher on the bigger ones. It’s better to err on the bottom cut being too low, that way you don’t have to clean out a Dutchmen. Here’s an old explainer video I made: th-cam.com/video/gGb2SQ7PtJw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hD6AVgfjgTVarzA1

    Ahhhyup ...another saying about coast weather is .."if ya don't like the weather now, wait 10 minutes ...it'll change" ... Right on the west coast near Ucluelet start the day in fog, then came sunshine, the came drizzle then low clouds then fog etc etc..... I think is was O'connor Bros show on that assignment.

      In scotland they say the same thing. 4 seasons in one day.
