Hello Allysia. My name is Sergio and I have been watching some of your videos and really love how you explain topics on piano. I do have a question that I am sure that this isnt the first time it's been asked. I started teaching my 9 year old a bit of piano since I started playing at the same age. Would I be able to purchase these piano books a level at a time for him or is this a "MUST" on him registering for piano? When you get a chance if you can shoot me a response on my question and sorry for my long chatterbox comment/question. Thank you. 😊.

Just started Level 2 RCM. I’m going to learn all 16 études but do I need to tackle all 31 repertoire pieces? I realize you that you get out what you put in but do students usually learn every single repertoire piece in order to be ready for the next level? (My goal is to get an excellent music education but trying to be time efficient as well)

Hey, I can play piano well, but wanted to start from the beginning. How are you going about learning the levels? Any tips?

I am planning on ABRSM level 1 in about 4 months time. It seems level 1 and 2 a very similar, do people ever skip level 1 straight to level 2? I feel quite confident even if I had to take level 1 tomorrow I could pass(albeit not well).
So is another 4 months of learning 3 simple songs and basic sight-reading overkill?
The only difference I can see is a few more scales and arpeggios.
Could I skip to level 2?

I know that people sometimes skip RCM grades, so I'm sure the same could be done with the ABRSM! If you're feeling really under-challenged, I would say go for it!

I might mention this to my piano teacher. I do think she is going a bit slowly. Thanks!

Hello, what does it means if the teacher told me I'm at sonatina level?

You're probably anywhere between a grade 3-7 level then. Sonatinas start at grade 3 and progressively get more difficult. It's basically the marker of an intermediate-level player. :)

She moved me to Bach's inventions, and gave me a sonata after a few months. The Sonata is k545 of Mozart.
But before I got a teacher, I play other sonatas too. Yeah, it's pretty difficult.
